PR friends, contacts and dear readers,
Someone is using my name and likeness in order to obtain free PR products (and who knows what else?).
This appears to have been happening since March of 2018 (!).
I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If you’ve corresponded with someone via the following email address:
karenmakeupandbeautyblog@gmail.com
Or, if you’ve sent, or have been asked to send, PR review products to a mailing address that includes…
San Francisco, CA 94118
That was not me. 🙁
To the person doing this, you should know that this constitutes mail fraud, which is a federal offense. Your email address, San Francisco mailing address, and other pertinent details have been provided to law enforcement.
Also, this is so not cool. Shame on you.
— Karen
Hi Karen:
I love your blog and I’m sorry that this has happened to you. To be on the safe side, I would also check my other social media, debit stuff etc, to make sure those too haven’t been hacked.
Crazy! So sorry Karen!
Karen I believe this a reportable crime !
Yup, it’s a federal offense. Calling the FBI.
Disgusting behavior.
Oh no! So sorry this is happening to you! I hope they catch whoever is doing this.
That’s terrible. I hope they stop this fraudster soon.
Did you find out about it from a PR company/brand?
It astonishes me what some people will do any more. I hope the authorities deal with this and prosecute! How totally awful. I’m glad you found out and can act to stop it. Some people are just awful.
I’m so sorry! This is so wrong. I hope you’re able to press charges!
So sorry, I hope the problem will soon be solved.
Karen, this is awful. Not that anyone deserves this, but you are so kind, sweet and generous with your time to inform us all of the latest and greatest in makeup-land.
Keep us updated on the progress and when they catch this scoundrel!!!
I’m so sorry this happened to you. What a mess for you.
I’ve heard of it happening to bloggers before. Do people really think their internet address and mailing addresses can’t be traced to them? Stupid and shameful.

It always amazes me the lengths some people will go to in order to defraud others. Why can’t they put that energy toward something useful?!
I hope the authorities catch whoever is doing this and prosecute them! So sorry you have to deal with this.
Ugh! This is terrible! I’m so sorry your have to deal with this. ☹️
Ugh…some people are so deplorable there are no words! It’s theft of the worst kind! Love your blog so much and it’s such a shame that someone would do this to you. I can’t stand when people work so hard to figure out a way to not do actual work to get what they want!
Hope this person will be catch. Also hope that you will continue with us despite this total irrespectful person.
I read your blog every day, and have for years. You are a source of great information and joy for your readers, and this person will not take that from you. I am sorry that you are going through this, and now you will have the burden of having to be diligent in seeking this person’s prosecution. May the Grinch visit this felon and steal his or her tree, and “your” products.
How awful! I hope this person is caught and stopped! What a violation—I’m so sorry this happened to you.
Omg, so sorry to hear this is happening to you – I hope they quickly find that fraudster. As Jackie mentioned, just to be safe, I’d check all social media as well as personal accounts, especially in light of all the big hacking happening (Equifax hack last year, and this year: Facebook, Saks/Lord and Taylor, Ticketfly/(Eventbrite), Panera, GooglePlus, UnderArmour, Mariott International, to name a few). Also, you may want to do a security check on your computer as well. 🙁
Karen, my heart goes out to you. I am truly sorry this has happened to you.
So sorry Karen this is terrible! I hope all of your private info is secure and it doesn’t turn into a bigger hassle than it already is.
Wow! So sorry to hear that this is happening to you Karen. I do hope that there is no lasting damage to your identity or reputation due to this heinous act and that the imposter gets their due desserts.

How did you find out this was happening? Did a supplier tip you off? I’m so glad he found out about this!
Echoing the concerns of others. You have worked to hard on your brand to have to deal with this foolishness. Please check all your accounts and maybe have a data check run on you and your husband as well as your precious daughter (people have been know to ‘steal’ pictures of children that have been posted online.
What a way to start the holiday season!
Be vigilant and safe!
Oh my gosh, that’s so awful, I’m sorry! How did you end up finding out about it??
