Soft Seaside Hues Infuse the Makeup in the Aveda Sea Blossoms Collection for Spring/Summer 2012

March 28th, 2012 by Karen 41 Comments

Aveda is one of those brands that sort of drifted off my radar screen for a while. Years ago, a former co-worker got me hooked on one of their lipglosses, but when I finished the tube, I never got around to picking up another (me = short makeup attention span).

Well, the brand is back on my heads-up display with their new Sea Blossoms collection for spring/summer 2012.

Characterized by soft seaside colors like pastel pink, coral, violet, blue, green and gray, the limited edition seven-piece release for eyes, lips and cheeks speaks to that part of me that lives for the beach! — and loves makeup in soft beachy colors. 🙂

Available now at Aveda stores, salons and aveda.com, these pieces have definitely done one thing for me: they’ve got me thinking about Aveda again, and it’ long overdue.

How do you feel about Aveda? Are you very familiar with the brand?

A lazy girl lunch

It’s the end of another day, doll. What did you have for lunch? I made a tortellini and spinach soup, and my tummy thinks it turned out well.

It was quick and easy to make, too. Better still, it only took one pot.

Step 1: Bring your broth to a boil (I used Trader Joe’s pre-made Hearty Vegetable).

Step 2: Next, I threw in about a cup of Trader Joe’s Spinach Tortellini (if you’re noticing a theme here, yes, I like Trader Joe’s) and cooked that until they felt just about done.

Step 3: Then, I threw in a handful of raw spinach and turned off the heat.

That’s about it. I like to eat it quickly so the pasta doesn’t get too mushy.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I didn’t know Aveda had makeup. uhhh… maybe I’m the last. tee hee 🙂
Is it just me, or is it annoying how the Petal Essence Face Accents pan doesn’t fill the full width of the Aveda palette? Design flaws like this irk me.

I didnt notice it at first but yep…that’s the kind of little thing that’ll drive me crazy. It’s that it’s …so…close…to the same width (or height if you’re looking at the palette), yet not quite the same that’s irksome.

Of course, if they perform well, I’d be willing to overlook that 🙂

My bigger problem would be the green shadow next to a face product, I totally foresee green streaks on my cheek lol!

Huh, I’ve never tried tortellinni as a soup! I’ll have to give that a go next time I’m feeling adventurous! Not a big cooked spinach fan though…do you know any other variations?

Man, between this and the clarins post you’re making me hungry!! I’m down to the “last resort” food (often consists of Boeing basics and weird stuff I bought on a whim at Marshall’s or tjmaxx lol), because grocery shopping is waiting til payday 🙁

On a non food note… Assuming its recyclable (looks like it) , i LOOOVE the packaging of the lipglosses…so cute!!

        Hi Adrienne,

You could always leave out the spinach and put in whatever veggies you like. Kale, sliced mushrooms, bok choy, cabbage, sliced carrots…whatever suits your fancy!

Ooh, I Ike gel moisturizers! As long as theyre not too lightweight, i have very oily skin that still needs moisture, but hates even some lotions, finding them too heavy. What is it called?

        Hi Adrienne,

Thought I’d jump in here. Back when my skin was really oily I loved, LOVED Face Oasis by H2O Plus:

Thanks for the recommendation! Right now I have DDF moisture dew, which is great, but falls juust short in the moisture department. I’ve been thinking of going back to a Mary Kay gel cream I’d used a few years ago when a friend sold Mary Kay in college, but the H2O one sounds perfect! I’m hoping on some birthday money soon, so I might order it then and leave the DDF for humid summer days!

Ill keep an open eye and maybe I’ll even luck out at TJMaxx or Marshall’s (aka my second homes) , I know they sometimes have h2o body products, that’s actually where I was able to pick uP my second bottle of the DDF for less than half off!

We just got out testers in for Lancôme summer, and Karen there is this big giant bronzer with the prettiest overspray I have ever seen! I don’t want to let anyone touch it, lol!!

What an inspiring collection (since it’s been snowing here all morning)! The colors are lovely and I really like the packaging. I’ve only used some of Aveda’s Rosemary Mint products, but I did like them.

Your soup looks fab, btw. I should have waited until after lunch to check in. Now I’ll be grumbley in the tumbley for the next hour. It’s just egg salad for me today, but I do like to make it a bit special by adding some dijon mustard and capers to the mix. 🙂

Thank you! We could use a little Nor Cal weather! 🙂 Last week, it was in the 70s, so everyone was freaking when the temp dropped back to the 30s. We’re all crossing our fingers that the warmth comes back before June!

No, on finishing Buffy. I switched to Angel after Season 3 (when he left). I think I’ll go back to Buffy but, as stupid as this sounds, right now I can’t bear to see her with someone other than Angel – especially if it’s Spike. I just loathe him. I do realize how ridiculous that is, but I’m embracing my immaturity for now. HAHA!

I’m fairly familiar with Aveda, but we don’t get their makeup in Taiwan anymore (I guess it didn’t sell too well?), and in Belgium only certain hair salons use their products.
