Shu Uemura Egerie Swatches and a Rainy Hello!

February 4th, 2010 by Karen 37 Comments

Well, ladies, the rain’s back in town, and it’s coming down like someone upstairs forgot to shut off the sprinklers. I managed to make it home from San Francisco in one piece, but it was touch ‘n go there for a while. I could barely see the road through the windshield (hello, reduced visibility!) and took a wrong exit off the highway. Next thing I knew, I was at a Shu Uemura counter at the mall. Oops! 🙂

Since I was there, I figured I might as well get some swatches of the new Egerie collection, right?

Right off the bat, the colors weren’t as hard edged as I expected. The makeup in the promo pic made me think ’80s rock, but that’s not what I saw today. Today I saw soft and feminine, with shimmery shades and pastels.

Take a look and lemme know what you think…

From left to right: Lipsticks in PK 320M, Nude Beige

Satin Glow Radiant Stick Highlighter, Satin Glow Radiant Stick Blush

Liquid Eyeshadow Base in Gray (from the Starry Violet Duo), Green (from the Shiny Mint Duo) and Brown (from the Glint Blue Duo)

Eyeshadows in Viole (from the Starry Violet Duo), Blanc (from the Shiny Mint Duo) and Blue (from the Glint Blue Duo)

Black Drawing Pencil, Silver Drawing Pencil

See anything you like?

WTF, Tabs?

So, when I finally got home this afternoon, I unlocked the door but froze when I heard a loud rustling coming from inside.

What was that?

It sounded like it was coming from my desk. Lo and behold, there was Tabs, sitting at the computer…

LOLZ! I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I think he may be starting a nail polish blog. Ah, that crazy tabby! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. How’s it going tonight? What are you doing now? I just finished watching an episode of Burn Notice, and now I’m looking for shoes at Anthropologie.com.

I love Tabs lol, that paw is too cute!

I’ve never used Shu’s products, what do you think of them?

I like them a lot! Start with the eyeshadows… they’re so smooth and pigmented!

I also haven’t tried any products by Shu. I think the lipstick PK 320M looks really gorgeous though. I love pastel lips, it reminds me of the beautiful women of the 60’s! I’m wearing Saint Germain in my display picture, it’s my favorite.

Tabs looks like he’s a very skilled blogger. Me thinks you have a spy.

Right now? I’m battling the beginnings of what feels like a really bad migraine. I took something for it, but it hurts. Then again, it doesn’t help I’m up at 12:25 AM CST.

Today, I had to wake up at the grand ol’ time of 9:30 AM to make it to a TEN FIFTEEN root canal appointment. I was not happy. The even worse part? It turns out my root was infected and so I have to be on these horrible anti-biotics the size of horse pills four times a day for a week to kill the infection. Then, I have to go back Wednesday to do part two of the root canal (at 10:30 am, yay for me…not) and the week after that I go to the dentist to get the whole tooth crowned. Until I get the crown, I have deal with the fact the half my tooth is missing on my left lateral incisor which makes me VERY insecure.

The endodontist said if I had to have Coca-Cola or anything acidic, I’m forever reduced to drinking it through a straw because I apparently have a dry mouth. Dry mouth = bacteria/plaque heaven. Acid from Coca-Cola = massive erosion. I’m also banned from chewing gum (Where art thou, Orbit?), all hard foods (i.e. no cookies at ALL) and sticky or chewy foods (taffy!!!) until I get the crown. I think I’ll be buying the biggest tin of Altoids Peppermint mints I can find because I am a gum fiend!

But y’know what, it felt good to write all this down. My headache went down like 3 notches. I also happen to be staring at my brand spanking new, pretty Illamasqua nail varnishes in Rampage and Muse. I can’t decide which to use first. They look so pretty in their bottles sitting on my desk!

I *think* I’ll do Rampage. I’m feeling the green Rampage. I didn’t paint them last night. I figured I needed to catch up on my z’s.

The Glow Blush stick is pretty and I really want the black nailpolish. I have never tried Shu Uemura makeup before. Looks like I need to wonder off to the counter at Holt Renfrew tomorrow. Will have to make a mental note to go there.

Tell Tabs to pick up OPI’s Panda-monium Pink from their new Hong Kong collection. I just got it last night. I think it would be really pretty on him!

Love the Shu blush color and the drawing pencils. I have never used Shu products (except for their eyelash curler). I might have to check out the Shu eye shadows and blushes. Although, I am on a little Chanel kick right now. Since my son has been sick all week and hubby has been out of town (but came home sick Wednesday night), I treated myself last night to 2 new Chanel singles, as well as the OPI polish mentioned above, and a Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Hope you’re having a good day and that the rain has stopped or slowed down on y’all. It’s raining and crazy cold here. Take care!

Happy Friday, Toni! How is your son feeling? I hope he’s better.

And a big “yay” for your haul. What Chanel singles did you get?

Thanks, Karen. My son is feeling better now, but he still has a nasty cough. My husband came home from a business trip to Miami and he has double ear infections.

I got the Chanel Safari and Lotus singles. I loved the look of Quartz and Lavande. The makeup artist told me that I would look nice in Bois Blue. She invited me to come back when I had more time to come in and play around with the colors. I love how smooth and blendable the Chanel shadows are!

Hope you’re having a great Friday!

The nail polish seems interesting, but can’t do for the price. Shu’s spring collection looks pretty but a bit boring, and not so punk. Lots of “been-there, done-that”. Waiting for Shu summer.
