New in Beauty, Jan. 15: Dolce & Gabbana The Roses Lipstick and MAC Too Fabulous

January 15th, 2010 by Karen 39 Comments

Ladies, can I get a big…
TGIF!
We’re rounding the bend, on the home stretch, with the finish line in sight. Do you think you have enough left in you for a sprint to the end? Come on, girl, you can do it. 🙂

Today I feel like starting our adventure with a list of recent and upcoming makeup and beauty bits like…

  • Forget a dozen roses… I’d rather have Dolce & Gabbana’s The Roses Lipstick collection of five floral lippies (Scarlett, Shine On, Magnifica, Baby Darling and Fascination; $30 each) instead. Find ’em at Dolce and Gabbana makeup counters in February, just in time for Valentine’s (hint, hint, El Hub!).
  • Speaking of flowers, Essie’s Art of Spring collection reminds me of a fresh bouquet.
  • Will MAC Too Fabulous really be TOO fabulous?
  • If you happen to spend $150 at Beauty.com, don’t forget your gift with purchase from designer Marchesa, with generous samples from Perricone MD, Origins, Kinerase and Urban Decay.
  • BAY AREA BEAUTY READERS: Nordstrom’s hosting Dior events today and tomorrow featuring their new spring collection! RSVP via Facebook, or call (415) 243-8500 x1410.
  • Sephora has the new Tarina Tarantino makeup line for preview, WOOT!
  • IF you wanna smell like Kim Kardashian (and I’m not saying you do)
  • I’ve got stratospherically high hopes for Urban Decay’s Preen Shadow Box, Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden and Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows.
  • Beauty 360, CVS’s new beauty shopping destination, has some pretty cool niche and prestige beauty brands.
  • Have you haird of Kelly VanGough hair products? The new Wonderlust Hair Color Illuminating Tonic looks neat.
  • Because of the packaging, I want to eat DKNY’s Candy Apple parfum sprays…
  • TRISH McEVOY ALERT! She has a new Translucent Finishing Powder.
  • Estee Lauder’s Perfectionist Targeted Deep Wrinkle Filler is supposed to erase my deepest wrinkles in a flash = OUTTA MY WAY, LADIES! 🙂
  • Fresh off the branch — Clinique Fresh Picked Eye Shadow.
  • Holy WOW! For $195, Amore Pacific Future Response Age Defense Cream sure better work.
  • Look at all of the makeup E.L.F. squeezed into their Mini Makeup Collection.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Yeah… it’s kind of moving me! I have a feeling I might already have similar colors from UD, but still. 🙂

LOL, I get a kick out of grocery shopping too! The only part I hate is bringing the bags in from the garage.

      Happy Friday!

I probably do too. I should really stop shopping because im “moved” by certain things and take a look at my stash before anything else. 😀

I love grocery stores. The Hubs LOLs when I wave “hi” to my favorite grocery stores when we pass them by. Same w/ Target – he says Target is my holy grail ( I wonder where he picked that term up from ) ….

I am the designated “put the grocery away person” in the house…

Happy happy Friday – at the homestretch now!

LOL, nope, no football-related plans tonight! We are going out for dinner and drinks and then maybe some bar-hopping!

Good luck with Ikea; I refuse to go to the one here on the weekend because it is always PACKED. Like a you can’t control where your body is going because you are being herded around, type of packed.

Dude, Ikea gives me hives, but it’s affordable, and I’m desperate for some stuff to organize all the crap in my office. I can’t find anything and it’s stressing me out.

Their organization stuff is the best! My makeup vanity/desk is all stuff from there.

Pretty basic makeup – the shadows from celebutante by benefit, new mac cream blush (the French name I’m not going to try to remember how to spell) and lipgelle in resort life (?) not sure if I got that name right.

I am excited for the following:

    MAC Too Fabulous
Tarina Tarantino (mainly cause I want those PINK brushes!!)
I’m strangely interested in the Kim Kardashian scent—I’ll have to try it….
    Also, the DKNY Candy Apples…..YUMM!
I’m waiting anxiously to see the UD Alice in Wonderland palette in person….it it works, it’s MINE (along with the matte EDEN Primer Potion…..genius!!)

I am jeleaous that you have a DIOR event this weekend….I can’t wait for Nordstroms to open at our mall in 2011…..I think I may just visit them EVERY day!!

Oh, BTW Karen……are we going to go back to doing a weekly HAUL report? I so enjoy reading about what everyone is buying (especially because I find things to add to my lists)

I just popped over to the UD site. The Preen shadow box is the same as the Show Pony box, unfortunately. The Alice in Wonderland looks to be a set of 16 of their bestselling eyeshadows renamed with Alice names, plus travel size 24/7 eye pencils in Zero and Flipside and a travel size Eyeshadow Primer Potion. The new Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a matte tawny shade. Karen, I’ve never tried the Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Which shade might you recommend for someone with a light cool complexion? Thanks, and have a great weekend, everyone!

Dagnabbit, I knew that sucker looked familiar!!

I gotta say I’m not crazy about UD’s original Primer Potion (find it hard to blend shadows in top of it), but a lot of women love it, so it might work for you as an all-purpose shadow base. Their Sin version, which I LOVE, could work if the pink doesn’t pull too warm on you: UD Sin swatch. Here’s a swatch of the original PP too, just so you can get an idea of the color in case you want it: UD PP swatch.

Maybe consider Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance. It’s practically translucent and works great! Here’s a review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Review.

      Hope this helps!

OK, I have a confession. I’m not the worlds biggest UD fan….. There I’ve said it.
I love sparkle and flash maybe more than the next girl, but sometimes I think I should name myself Twinkle and swing around a pole when I wear UD. ;0)
BUT, all that aside I would love to have the Alice in Wonderland shadow box simply for the cool flippy, pop up thing going on. AND UD mixed with more toned down stuff is highly wearable, so I may just have to have this palette.
The Tarina Tarantino collection? oh you will be mine. (well at least some of it) It is so pretty and spring like!
And lastly, I almost swooned when I saw the Clinique Fresh PIcked eye shadows. The colors are gorgeous and the embossing makes this almost too pretty to use.

LOL, too funny! At first I felt that UD was too over-the-top for me, but once I got to know some of the more mellow colors I liked it. 🙂

TGIF! I ordered UD’s Alice palette this morning and I’m psyched! Can’t wait to get it. I figured it out that I only have 6/16 shadows already, so that’s not making out too bad. Also It looks like UD’s Preen palette has the same shadows as in the Show Pony Shadow Box.

    Have a good weekend Karen!

    Yay for Friday!!

Love the look of those D&G lippies! They are so pretty… I’m trying to figure out how to hint to the SO that I’d like something pretty for our 3rd anni & Valentine’s day… LOL.

I so love the look of the Preen palette – but it looks like it’s the same shades as Show Pony which I already decided to skip on. And aaaah. There is so much hype surrounding the Alice in Wonderland BOS but I already have all the shadows I’d want in it (or close enough) between my Get Baked and Deluxe palettes … except for Mushroom. LOL.

Hope you have a fab weekend!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
