NARS Flaunts His Quirky Side with Spring 2010

February 10th, 2010 by Karen 40 Comments

Lipsticks from left to right: Niagra, Cruising ($24 each)

Have you had a chance to pal around with any of the characters in the NARS 2010 spring collection yet (it’s been out for a while), because those kids are a hoot!

Here they are mugging for the camera… 🙂

Lipstick in Cruising, Lipstick in Niagra, Lipgloss in Easy Lover, Lipgloss in Ophelia

I get the feeling NARS watched a lot of cartoons before rolling out this release. Kinda quirky (which I REALLY like), right? I can’t see myself ever bundling hot pink, electric blue, pastel purple, plum and mint green together in a collection, but then I’m not the genius that is Francois Nars.

Have you picked up anything from this collection? I’ve got a wish list in my wallet with the names of the lipsticks and glosses. 🙂

I don’t wanna work… [I just wanna bang on the drum all day]

I’ve been procrastinating BIG TIME today — shoe shopping, taking “artsy” pictures of Tabs and looking for new music online.

The thought of actually performing work today, which for me meant sending out query letters to magazines for freelance writing jobs and figuring out a new lighting setup for my home photography studio, was just slightly less pleasant than ancient Roman dentistry.

But all of my tomfoolery did result in something; I discovered a new band I’m really excited about. They’re called Nikki & Rich.

Before/if you hit play, put on your dancing shoes, and crank up the volume! 🙂

What did you think (both of the band AND NARS for spring)?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Hi Karen!

NARS has been getting my attention a lot recently, I’m wishing for Albatross blush like you wouldn’t believe! Cruisin and Easy Lover are now on my NARS wish list thanks to you!

Good choices, Vanessa! 🙂 I love the lippies from this release, too.

Le sigh, thank goodness Weds. is almost over!! What are you plans for the evening?

I haven’t gotten anything from the new NARS collection, but I am drawn to the Glitter Pencil in Bains Douches, such a unique color!

Hey Karen! I actually really like the song 🙂 I will have to look up some of their other stuff. and easy lover lipgloss looks super pretty, but I’m not a huge fan of NARS lipglosses (they feel so thin to me. I think it’s just me).

Also your target haul inspired me to do the same. Unfortunately the makeup aisles were lookin’ pretty bare. But I made out with a couple new maybelline glosses and a kings & queens honey body milk (it was on clearance!). also got more of my trusty almay eye makeup remover pads, and sour patch candies (the watermelon ones) because you made me want them, lol. and I got some new workout clothes and pj’s. I ended up dropping over 100 bucks, oops.

Why does that always happen at Tar-ghay? I go in for one thing and next thing you know…

Is the Honey Body Milk a lotion or a shower cream? It sounds delish!

Re: Sour Patch Kids: I have yet to have the watermelon ones. I usually get the variety pack, eat all the red, orange and yellow ones, and then give all the green ones to El Hub, LOL!

Because they have EVERYTHING. Love that place.

It’s a lotion… I sniffed it through the seal (lol) and was very impressed! I have never tried honey-scented anything before.

The watermelon ones are great! I am the same way with the variety pack – except I give away the yellows 🙂

Honey/milk scents can either be really good or really bad (too sweet). Let me know if this one’s any good cause if it is Imma hunt it down!

If I have another cranky episode by weeks’ end I’ll pick up some watermelon ones. 🙂

And I can’t believe you like the green ones! They remind me of fruitcake for some reason…

I’ll let you know what I think of it! I love sweet scents 🙂 they had a bunch of kings & queens stuff on sale at my target, so you might wanna check it out 🙂 I had a really hard time deciding which product to try.

I typically hate the lemon version of everything and pick them out – skittles, starburst, whatever. not a big lemon fan.

Hahaha, Karen it’s hard to focus on the makeup part when you post a hilarious picture of your cat! Ha, by far that’s the best. Well, back to makeup, I love that bright turquoise glitter pencil. I have sort of been into that ‘line the bottom of your eye only’ thing, and that blue would be gorgeous 🙂

I *heart* that Nikki & Rich song, ever since iTunes offered it as a free download. (iTunes USA has been on a roll lately on that front, too!)

As for NARS, that Cruising lipstick is calling my name… and so are those crazy eyeshadows… which means I better save up, especially now that I’ve found a NARS counter closer to where I live! (OMG, the markups from the dollar-to-peso exchange rate would definitely be close to ridic on this one…)

Not yet, actually – we’re usually a month late on all collections, so I’m guessing we should have this by March 🙁 I might drop by and check it out on my next trip to Manila, though! Here’s hoping…

Not to be a buzzkill, but I purchased Cruising and just returned it to Sephora (which BTW, was looking dusty, understocked and not very appealing…wonder if their profits have taken a dive or if they’re transitioning out alot of lines to bring in new ones). Cruising is advertised as being semi-matte, but I thought the color pay-off was poor and more along the lines of a MAC Lustre (shiny and sheer). For $25 (including tax), it wasn’t anywhere near special enough to be a keeper. My reaction was “Meh.”

I definitely agree that Sephora stores have been looking disheveled and kind of gross lately. what is the deal? that is not the way to keep your stranglehold on the industry!

I own both the Ophelia and Easy Lover lipglosses! I was in NYC for my 30th bday last month and stopped in Saks Fifth Avenue (on 5th Ave!) and picked them up. I was super scared of Easy Lover but it actually goes in very sheer. Ophelia is the perfect nude lipgloss. I wasn’t crazy about dropping $50+ for 2 lipglosses, but hey, it was my birthday so why not! (I also hit up both Sephoras in Times Square, hee hee).

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
