Why are eyebrows so fickle? One day they’re well-behaved, upstanding young citizens. The next day, they’re rambunctious teenagers (yes, I said rambunctious) who refuse to listen to me no matter what. AAARRRGH!

Whenever I’m dealing with the latter, in brow parlance, I take a break from my regular routine, and look for something new. And lately that’s been the new Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Brow Palettes.

There are two of them — Harmony 1 for blonde to dark hair, and Harmony 2, which is the one I use, for brown to black hair — and they’re $42 each.

They come with three matte brow powders (a lighter shade, a medium shade and a darker one), a clear brow wax, a matte beige cream highlighter and a dual-ended applicator with a spoolie and a stiff angled brush.

You’re supposed to apply the wax first to shape your brows, then fill them in with the powder, and then highlight your arches with the cream highlighter, which is lovely and my favorite thing about these kits.

I’m sure I’ll be reaching for these every once in a while, if for no other reason than to use it, because it’s matte, and I love the way it subtly lifts my arches.

As for the powders, well…they do hide my spare spots so that my brows look more defined and less out of control (especially the tail ends, which have been giving me so much grief lately), but I think that also make my brows look borderline blocky and Instagrammy from some angles… I think I like the look I get from a brow pencil a little better.

Oh, and the brow wax? Waaaay too soft for me. I like my brow hairs locked down, man! I don’t want those hairs to move, not even if I’m standing in a wind tunnel!

All in all…I think these are just OK, so I’m gonna keep looking. Of course I’ll let you know when my brows and I discover something epic. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I like MUFE for many products, but my go-to brand for brows has been Benefit, or more recently Charlotte Tilbury. These look nice but wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase.

Hm, not for me I guess. Harmony 1 looks a little warm in the pan, and I can’t deal with that.

They might actually work for me, my hairs aren’t too bad. It’s more the tails being practically bald.

this seems pricey but i do love how your brows turned out!
    I don’t think they are instagrammy/blocky at all 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
