Lancôme Doll Lashes and Ragdoll Kitties

September 1st, 2011 by Karen 38 Comments

Wait — so you’re telling me that blue-eyed baby Ragdoll kitties have absolutely nothing to do with the new Lancôme Doll Lashes collection?

Are you sure? Because the word “Doll” appears right there in each product’s name.

Oh, well. Leave it to a cat lady to just hope/assume that Lancôme was referring to adorably docile Ragdoll cats. 🙂

Although I’m a little bummed that felines didn’t play a role in the six-piece eye collection, I still like the idea behind the release — coordinating eye makeup to create a bright, wide-eyed look.

The collection, available now at Lancôme counters and also online, centers around the new Hypnôse Doll Lashes ($25), a volumizing mascara designed to create a full lash look, but the accompanying eyeshadow quints and liners also look like fun, especially if you like pinks, taupes and purples.

Lancome Doll Lashes

Here are some quick swatches. Have a look, and let me know what ya think.

1. Color Design Doll Lashes Edition Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Pink Envy, $48

2. Color Design All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Violet Sweetheart, $48

3. Color Design Doll Lashes Edition Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Rose Coquette, $48

Swatches from the left: Crayon Kohl Waterproof in 4. Purple Quartz and 5. Noir Riche ($24.50); 6. Hypnôse Doll Lashes Mascara ($25)

I’m not sure about the mascara, because I’m still so completely stuck on the UD Cannonball/Buxom Amplified combo I discovered a few months ago, but I am intrigued by the palettes…

What about you? Anything here catching your eye (other than the Ragdoll kitty at the top)? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. It’s not Lancôme related, but Benefit’s currently featuring a 20% off online sale on top-selling products on benefitcosmetics.com with the code SOPOPULAR. The offer ends tonight at 11:59pm PST, so you might want to visit sooner than later…

i’m the opposite: the palettes are lovely, but it’s the mascara i’m really intrigued about :p.

i’m debating whether or not i should get Doll Lashes or MAC’s Opulash mascara in Optimum Black.

    Decisions, decisions…

The pink and brown shade in Rose Coquette is looking gorgeous. I can tell that they would pair well together. =)

Aww, how cute is that kitty?? You know I’m with dani above – I already like Hypnose so I’m interested to know what makes the Doll Lashes version special. I hope it’s even more volume! Sorry, I just got really excited (and I also have to note that I originally typed “Rag Doll version” so you just know that’s what I’ll mistakenly call it for life). 🙂

      Hi Kim,

How awesome would it be if there was an actually Hypnose Ragdoll Mascara?!? I’d be all over it in a hot second!

Oh, no doubt! As long as it didn’t have a curved wand (like Hypnose Drama). Well, maybe even if it did have the curved wand. 🙂

I do not like the makeup on those models. At all. It looks so dated. Like the makeup on my Barbies from the late ’80s. Yuck.

But, left to my own imagination, I think I could make those colors look really cute.

I think it’s because Labor Day is right around the corner.

Do you think you might get anything from this sale? 20% off isn’t bad at all. 🙂

Beautifulcats. I have 2 sacred Birmans they look a lot like ragdolls and have the same sweet disposition. And now I want the mascara because it reminds me of beautiful cats:-)

Have you/ will you check out the new eye steppes from Jane iredale? I am really curious about the new “warm” and “cool” steppes…the packaging looks awesome, but I wonder what the colors are like.

      Hi Nicolle,

I’m glad you’re finding them helpful. Hmm, I’m not really a Jane Iredale kinda girl, although I’ve heard some nice things about her products. Lemme see if there’s a store nearby that has her stuff…

Anywho, what collections for fall are you liking so far?

I tried on the doll lashes – not a ton of volume, but great lift and separation.

I tried Violet Sweetheart, it’s gorgeous. I think the palettes in general are overpriced, but the colors in that one are great.

Violet Sweetheart seems to be the color combo for me :). Purple Quartz is lovely, too.

Btw, Karen, aren’t you a bit afraid that everyone’s fave kitty model is going to throw a hissy fit is he gets to know other kitty models have been featured on the page? Or he’s the generous type? 😀

Go for it! I love the combo of shades in that palette… it might look super cute paired with some false lashes, too!

LOL, no, Tabs doesn’t know yet about the Ragdolls making an appearance. Please don’t tell! He’s a diva, you know, and hates sharing.

I do like the Violet Sweetheart pallete but more than that I really like the Purple Quartz eyeliner. So pretty! And very much the right balance between being so light that its freaky looking and so dark that it looks almost black. This one is just right. I’m getting it!

I just recently heard about Ragdoll cats and I joke that my cat must be one because she has the same temperament and is floppy!

I’m not digging the eye palettes and agree with the commenter who thought the models look like retro Barbies, but I am curious about the mascara. Are you planning on trying it?

Those palettes are pretty! I just got that Lancome Doll Lashes mascara, can’t comment on it too much since I just started using it. So far, i notice that it does not lengthen my lashes which is fine because my lashes are already naturally long anyway and i didn’t want to make them longer, but it does help hold the curl.
