Have You Tried Stila Perfecting Concealer?

August 31st, 2008 by Karen 37 Comments

Sephora kinda let me down yesterday. The only item in stock from the new Too Faced Smoke & Mirrors Fall 2008 collection was the Smoky Eye Palette. Bummer, but I didn’t leave the store unsatisfied or empty handed.

In the Stila section I found Perfecting Concealer in Shade F ($22).

It’s a highly pigmented formula and looked great in the store. I’m looking forward to trying it out. Anything able to conceal my dark circles gets a special place both on my makeup shelf and in my heart.

I hope it has good staying power. I’ll let you know!

Anywho, today should be interesting. El Hub volunteered to drive one of the floats for the local Labor Day parade, and I get to ride shot gun, ha! We haven’t seen the float yet, but I’ll take some pictures to share.

What are your plans for today?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hi! I’m just getting into bed, it’s night time here in Northern Europe. But as to what I did today, well, got yelled at by my grandmother with Alzheimer’s, felt miserable for a while, and then did som serious on-line shopping (MAC Lipglass Nymphette, for example) to make myself feel better. I must say, it worked!

Tomorrow I’m starting at a new job which I’m nervous about. Wish me luck! Have a great day!

    Hi Hanna,

I’m sorry about your grandma. I’m glad you are feeling better, though, and that you’re starting a new job. What will you be doing? Good luck on your first day!

I use Stila’s illuminating concealer under my eyes and it’s worked pretty well so far. Not heavy coverage, but my circles aren’t too dark.

I saw that yesterday, too. I liked the luminosity.

I’m looking forward to your follow up review of this product. I, too, have been “endowed” with crazy dark circles under my eyes and have tried a ton of concealers from Laura Mercier to Bobbi Brown but nothing has worked on me. I did however find Dior’s Hydrating Concealer (the one in a tube) to actually work pretty well. Try it – you might like it. It did conceal most of my dark circles and never appeared to be cakey and “fake” at all. It also has great staying power so no worries of it fading away during the day.

I can’t wait for your review, maybe this will make me start wearing concealer so I don’t freak people out with my hideous dark circles.
Hope your the parade is fun and can’t wait for your pictures! I’ve been looking for some good pita bread recipes, but can’t seem to find any..sigh

I look forward to reading your review about the concealer. A good concealer is hard to find, especially if you have a yellow undertone like I do–for me the challenge has always been to find something with a base that’s not too pink.

…This weekend, I’m hanging out in good ole SF with my family. Hung out with a friend from college. And I’m going to get some well-needed beauty sleep!

I actually have a tube of this, in shade C. I like it pretty well, it’s good for a quick easy makeup day as opposed to LM which you have to use a brush, etc.

Yesterday I went to Target and MAC. Have you tried any of the “new” brands at Target: JK Jemma Kidd, Pixe, and NP set? I spent a while browsing but didn’t get anything. But I did get jampacked l/g and the 187 at mac.

Today I went mountain biking with my hubby. Good times. Now we are watching college football. Not sure what we will do tomorrow, but at least I have the day off. Wheeee!

I’m looking forward to hearing about this! I’m still looking for the perfect concealer… moisturizing enough to not dry out my skin, yet dry enough to not settle into lines!

    Hi Roxy,

I totally agree with you — Dior Long Wearing Moisturizing Concealer is fab! I can’t wear it in the summer, though, because I need something darker than the darkest shade, medium beige.

Here’s the review I did earlier this year:

    Hi Cynthia,

I hear ya. I have neutral undertones so I’m always looking for a shade that’s the right mix of not too yellow and not too pink.

Hope you’re having fun with your fam. Are you from the Bay Area?

    Hi Amanda,

I haven’t tried ’em… yet! We didn’t end up going to Target so I’ll have to wait till my next run.

Oh nice MAC haul! The 187 is super versatile. You can use it for powder, liquid foundation, blush, bronzer, everything!

I’m glad we get tomorrow off, too. I am going to go for a run in the morning, and hopefully I’ll get some time to do some relaxin’.

How do you like your Jampacked so far?

    Hi Glosslizard,

Me too. 🙂 It’s very pigmented and so hopefully it’ll cover up everything.

I also saw a Stila powder that interesting called Hydrating Finishing Powder. I want to try this next, too!

Hello! I just wanted to say that I’ve heard good things about this Stila Perfecting Concealer though I’ve never tried it myself. I’ve just been browsing Stila’s website last night and I was thinking of purchasing it, your review will probably influence me on whether I buy this or not, I’m in need of concealers as well! By the way , I heard the Nars concealer is pretty good, that looks like a lipstick-lol. Anyhows, I look forward to your review :).
    Thanksssss.

Omg I’m so sorry for wasting your space but jsut right after I posted my comment I saw your comment about the Stila Hydrating Finishing Powder and I’m also interested in that as well!
Since my Stila loose powder is going to be finished soon.
I think i’m kind of close-minded.I only use 3 brands of make up which is Bobbi Brown, Stila and Clinique.
Hahahhah, I know diversity is fun 🙂

I’ve never tried it, but i love love love my stila illuminating tinted moisturizer, so I should give them another look. Today I am going to home depot and then to the mall. I mean seriously…if the people at home depot and lowes don’t see me, they worry. LOL

    Hi Karen-

Yes, I was born and raised in San Francisco. I live down south now, but I still visit the city when I can for the good food and shopping. Don’t miss the impossible parking and one-way streets though.

Happy Monday (if there’s such a thing)–

    Hi Karen,

I hope you like the concealer! I’ve been using this concealer and mixing it with my Maybelline liquid concealer. 1) because it’s a little too thick for me and 2) because mixing it makes the perfect shade to cover my blemishes as well. I usually warm it on my hand so it goes on a little better and dab it with my finger.

Happy September! hasn’t the year gone by SOOO fast!? Can’t wait to see pics of the float!

Yeah, that’s one thing I don’t miss about the city, either. What neighborhood did you grow up in? I lived in the Richmond and I *loved* it. I miss it a lot!

    Hi Jenna,

Good idea to warm it up. I noticed that it was thick this, and was thinking about perhaps diluting it with a few drops of eye gel.

Do you use any other Stila face products? I really like their shade selection so I hope that they work for me.

I have this stuff and I love it! It doesn’t make me break out, lasts all day, and has great full coverage. This would definitely fall under my go-to concealer.

Both, depending on what I need. If I just want spot protection I’ll put that stuff on large areas and put loose powder on top. Sometimes I don’t, but usually I do. Either way works great 🙂

I like Stila’s cover-up stick concealer the best. I always have a red nose, I don’t know why, and a few breakouts. Stila covers them up the best. I use to use Stila loose powder and was very upset when they stop making it. It would last me forever. Some websites still sell it. I can’t remember which ine I was, do you guys remember their #’s and what they were? Plus, I am Clinique/Stila user and its kinda neat to see that there is more like me. Thanks
