Glisten Up, Girls! Rimmel Eyeful Eye Glistener Makes Eyes Glow with Gloss

June 12th, 2010 by Karen 42 Comments

rimmel eyeful eye glistener

Who says lips get to have all the summer fun? When Rimmel Eyeful Eye Glistener eye pencils ($7) smooth onto eyelids, they leave behind a colorful shine like lipgloss for your eyes. 🙂

Use ’em as either shadows/liners for 1) a transparent wash of glossy, creamy color on your lids; or 2) build them up for a punch of pigmented color like in these swatches here…

How about staying power? — will they party from dusk till dawn? Well, not without some extra help. They remain moist and creamy on the lids well after they’ve been applied and feel like they never fully dry. That also may be why they migrate and move around throughout the day. To extend how long they last on my eyes, I apply them on a layer of primer, then pat a powder shadow on top. I tried that with Urban Decay Eden and Rimmel Glam Eyes Mono Shadow and liked how things turned out.

They’re available now for $7 each in Straight Laced (a shimmery purple), Stand Out (a shimmery green with glitter), Girls Only! (an iridescent, peachy golden pink), Flaunt (a shimmery bronze) and Talk to Me (a shimmery blue) at drugstores and RimmelLondon.com.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. [BIG YAWN] What a nice day, huh? Too bad every day can’t be a Saturday. I went to a movie to beat the heat, but it wasn’t a totally relaxing experience. One word: Splice. Don’t see it unless you’re cool with having your mind blown!

How was your day? Did you do anything fun?

These are always so pretty, and I’ve seen the ones they’ve made before, but sadly, even dry stuff creases on me! Glossy just isn’t going to happen! Ahh well

      Hi Mariah,

You never know… skin changes as you get older. You might be able to wear stuff that you weren’t able to before!

      Hi Agnes,

If your lids are very oily then you might need some reinforcements. Definitely wear a good primer underneath… if you don’t want to change the color, you could try setting it with a transparent power to keep it put.

How was the auto show? One of my good friends is into cars and he was always trying to get me to go to those things!

I’m an oily lidded girl too (painfully dry skin and oily lids…how???) and the thought of putting gloss on my eyes just makes me cringe a little.

Also, I think the red might make me look like I have a wicked infection haha!

I love these pencils and just rediscovered them in my stash last week! I have oily lids, but they stay on OK when applied over UD primer. There was some creasing by the evening – after 12 hours, but not nearly as much as I would have expected. I have the green and the purple one. The purple one is lovely and very subtle. The green one has kind of large sparkles and is not the most work appropriate color. Of course I didn’t realize it had sparkles and didn’t have time to redo my eyes…

      Hi Mica,

Oh, I love the purple shade! The green one is fun… if I was younger and worked in a creative environment I’d so rock it in a hawt second during the daytime. 🙂

Did you ever see district 9? I couldn’t even get through it because I was weirded out.

You should do a look with the bronze or gray shade so I can copy the look!

I did! If District 9 bugged (ha!) you, then Splice may launch you into therapy. Seriously, don’t go there!

Hmm, I just might have to bust out my shadows now…

thanks for the warning! I couldn’t even pinpoint why that movie bothered me, I just felt weirded out and didn’t want to finish watching! I am really more into light, fluffy comedies or chick flicks. speaking of which, did you ever see SATC 2? you may have mentioned it in a post, I don’t remember…. anyway I was way disappointed in it 🙁

          • Karen says

            June 13th, 2010 at 10:33 am

I watched it and was really disappointed. I felt like the characters were mistreated by the writers — their actions and the dialogue felt forced, like somebody was just writing the script to get it done.

And just so many of the scenes were JUST SO DUMB!

What did you think of it?

          • Tiffany says

            June 13th, 2010 at 10:40 am

I agree completely! Luckily I saw it with a friend at the drive-in so we could rant about it while we watched it 🙂 I was like, who the heck wrote this script?! Not to mention the constant, over-the-top stereotypes…

Looks like a good product to try! I see alot of people talking about crease issues- which i experience too! But I find that is I apply tho the inner corners of my eyes I get great long wear, no creases and pops of colour coming from my inner eye! Love the post thanks for introducing me to the product I must try it 🙂

I bought a couple a while back (Stand Out and Talk to Me), but they crease like crazy on me, even with primer and powder. I usually just use them on my lower lids. But they are really gorgeous at first application.

I have Straight laced, and I use it as a base/primer instead of full color because even with a primer below it I find it settles into my crease. So I take the color and smooth it very lightly over my whole eye, like I would a primer. Then I put color over it. doing that makes the color pop more.

I love these! I’ve had Talk to Me for a while and use it constantly. I just bought Girls Only today and used it as an emergency lipstick… gorgeous! I think Flaunt and Straight Laced would work well like that too.
