Good morning and TGIF! Extra TGIF, right? ? So…you know your world has taken an unexpected turn when you choose to wear a wrinkled shirt and low-key bronzed J Lo.-inspired skin to go get your blood drawn at the hospital and it’s like you’re about to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala.
All is well, by the way. I just had my annual checkup to make sure everything’s working correctly, and it is (*knock on wood*).
So yeah, I was wearing this look under my mask when I went to the lab, and I felt happier and more outgoing than I have in ages. I cracked jokes with the lab tech who drew like 10 vials of blood from my arm (it was actually three, but who’s counting?), and I more than enthusiastically told everyone I ran into to “HAVE A GREAT REST OF YOUR DAY!”
There’s definitely something to be said for pushing yourself to do the things you know make you feel better, even when you aren’t really feeling it at first!
By the way, the blush/bronzer and eyeshadow are all from the same palette, a multi-use powder palette called the Pixi Summer Glow Palette. I like it when my eye makeup ties into my blush/bronzer, and this palette is one of those no-brainers that allows you to pair colors without having to ponder colorimetry and trichromatic theory…
And the lipstick is Honest Beauty Happiness, also known as “Karen’s Summer 2020 Jam,” because it’s a chameleon! With the fuchsia top in these pics it looks more like a cool pink, but when I wear it with coral clothes it looks warmer and more like a pinkish coral.
If you don’t have this liquid lippie in your makeup bag, you need it ASAP. So, so good.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. HAVE A GREAT REST OF YOUR DAY! ?

Thanks, Amy! Happy Friday!

I just got the Honest beauty shade Happieness! It is so pretty! I too have a doctor’s appointment coming, for a yearly checkup as well. I think I will wear the lipstick under my mask too!
Karen says
I’m so glad you like it, Jennifer! It really is quite a chameleon color. 🙂
Tatiana says
You look gorgeous in those colors. That top suits you well. I love the ham-it-up photos at the end.
I hope you have a good weekend. I’m gonna crawl into my freezer and stay there until this heatwave lets up. We hiked in one of the county parks yesterday. Lots of uphills until my glutes were burning. And today I did an SF Ballet zoom class and then went to the park and worked with my trainer until I felt like barfing. Sorry if that was TMI.
Karen says
YES! Not TMI at all. If I’m working out and on the verge of being nauseous then I know I’m pushing myself! Good for you. What did she have you do? Switch lunges? THOSE MAKE ME WANNA YAK!
Lauren says
I ALWAYS have lipstick on, heck the whole lip trifecta-liner, lipstick and gloss.
The mask hides it and it can smear but I know it is there. I dress, accessorize and make up (some days more than others) all the time. I feel like I am playing “Barbies” with myself as the doll!
Jennifer Emmett says
The second to last pic made me spit out my tea!
Karen says
I hope it was Earl Grey! (I just had some with a little bit of sugar and milk.)
Christine says
How do you like the Pixi Large Lash Mascara?
I love that lipstick — on you! Since we are similar skin tone, it would look fine on me, too, but I know myself; I would get it and then immediately be tired of it and purge it. I think I purged all the makeup I bought during beginning of lock down, realizing I am just not That Makeup Person. 🙁
Trude says
Absolutely stunning, lady! ❤️
Sherry says
Love the bright pink blouse and the the bright pink lipstick!! Great color on you Karen!!
Kim says
You look fab. Who wouldn’t be happy to visit with your cheerful self?! If the blood drawing in your area is anything like ours, those folks can use some kindness. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard people be so incredibly rude to staff there. It’s busy. You have to wait. It’s not the check-in girl’s fault. 🙁 I hope your results are good – I’m always keeping an eye on my A1C. Genetic disposition to diabetes, sadly!
Karen says
I had a non-fasting test and WOOHOO, I’m not pre-diabetic! And my cholesterol is good! I swear I did a victory lap around the house when I got the results.
