I wore this look to drop Connor off at her dance class (she’s taking outdoor classes two days a week now, and yay for seeing other kids her age!), and then to go to Trader Joe’s, because doing that kind of regular everyday stuff is the adult equivalent of going to your high school senior prom now. (Dance studio drop-off IS AN EVENT. Ya gotta do it up!)
I took the new Urban Decay Stoned Vibes Palette for a spin for the first time in this look. It’s a new palette with 12 powder eyeshadows, the majority of them with this chonky-looking glitter formula that has a bit of squish to it. They look like they could potentially look like you’re wearing big flakes of glitter on your skin, but there was hardly any floof, fallout or flakes when I got Tiger’s Eye on my lids. The formula applies smoother than I expected it to, but you get WHOA, WHOA, WHOOOOOA levels of shimmer.
So…Urban Decay isn’t shy about their 420 references, but in this case I think “Stoned Vibes” actually refers to, ya know…gemstones, although Tiger’s Eye looks nothing like a stone on my eyelids. It’s a lovely pinkish bronze (heavy on the pink!), which is why I paired it with rose cheeks and lips.
OH! — I gotta point out the lower lash line. I’m wearing MAC Teddy, yet again, because apparently this fall is going to be my greatest hits tour of Teddy smoked along the lower lash line. I just kinda forgot how great it is when worn that way?! It’s fantastic.
I think I’m going to do a look with the purples in this palette (it’s $54, BTW) next because they remind me of my birth month gemstone, Alexandrite…which leads me to a question for you!
What’s your birth month gem? Drop it in the comments, along with any Qs you might have about the palette or this look, if you have ’em. As usual, the full breakdown of products is down below.

Wow! This is like pink frost, in the best way. I’m glad you were able to get out and about. I hope that means your air quality has improved a bit.
I’m gross aquamarine. I was always so jealous of April, May, July and September with the “real deal” gemstones. 😉 Between my sister, Hubs and my best friends, I’m the only one who’s not in one of those months.
Karen says
It has, Kim! I actually saw blue skies and clouds today!
And yes to “real deal” gemstones. Emeralds… SWOON!
Kim says
Your old-school birthstone was pearl, so that’s pretty cool. Mine was bloodstone. I think that could be pretty neat. 🙂
Karen says
Yeah, I guess. It’s classic and elegant, yadda yadda yadda. I do love the sparkly stuff though, ya know? I had to look up bloodstone. I think it’s something you’d find in the jewelry box of Stevie Nicks!
Kim says
You’re right, and I guess pearls are kind of “grandma”/conservative. 🙂 I had to look up bloodstone, too. Stevie Nicks or Daenerys Targaryen. HAHA!
Karen says
It’s totally Dani! She of course would be wearing the bloodstone jewelry gifted to her by Khal Drogo as a wedding gift! (Obviously.)

I would’ve loved aquamarine! I’m November, so topaz, and I hate the standard bright yellow topazes, but the ones that have more reds and browns to them are hard to find for a decent price. I was so happy a few years ago when the gem labs finally started making the rainbow-colored Mystic topazes!
Kim says
That’s true, Nikki – yellow is tough. The mystic topazes sound awesome! 🙂

So, so, so pretty! Thank you for the inspiration. I swear if MAC ever does something stupid like discontinuing Teddy I’m gonna be so upset. It was one of my first liners and it’s been in steady rotation for over 15 years now. How are the Laura Mercier blushes? I am so tempted by them. Love the LM Caviar mascara so much.
I woke up this morning and our air monitor was bright green for the first time in days. I looked outside and everything looked wet, so I stepped outside and it was lightly drizzling. I couldn’t believe it. I could actually breathe in the air! Met my trainer in the park even though it was drizzling and she brought her brand new barbell for me to play with. We both loved the gentle rain and are hoping for more. Hope the air was great up your way, too!
Karen says
I would seriously freak out if MAC discontinued Teddy! No seriously, I’m talking hoarding boxes upon boxes of it. It’s that serious.?
Re: the Laura Mercier blushes. They’re really beautiful, especially the mattes. Long lasting, easy to blend, and they come in so many pretty colors! They’re on the sheer side, and in that way remind me of the Chanel Joues Contrastes blushes. But it’s that perfect amount of sheerness, so it looks very natural. You can easily also build it up if you want to go for a really intense cheek.
OK, so I never thought to look up a YouTube rowing video and watch it while I was actually rowing. That’s so genius! If I ever get my hands on one of those rowers, I’m definitely going to do that. But for now I’m going to dream of the day when I can have one *and* a Peleton bike.
Tatiana says
I have to try one of the LM blushes now. They sound right up my alley. I like sheer and natural. Long live MAC Teddy!
And a Peloton bike! Yikes. That’s a lot of green. The old gym owner I told you about got a Peloton bike for himself and his wife (she’s a pilates trainer and gymnast). He let me try it out in his garage a few times to help me decide. Before Covid you could also go in store and try them. For the price and recurring monthly expense I decided it wouldn’t be for me. If I was traveling a lot one month (not an issue anymore) I would feel guilty about paying the monthly membership and not using it. Also you should decide which exercise you would like more and therefore be more likely to use. My hip has been out slightly ever since I slipped on the ice and fell when I was pregnant with Dear Daughter, because of this sitting on bike seats causes me tingling and numbness all down my leg. Doesn’t bother me on recumbent seats, so I went with the rower.
Karen says
I’m glad you went with the rower too because in my experience it’s the best for an overall workout. Getting your back and arms and even your hands (since you have to grip) into it really takes it to the next level (which is why I want one).
Which reminds me, I have a pull up bar in our kitchen doorway that I should probably start using… I want to work on my grip strength!
Jacqueline Billing says
These definitely are your colors, you look beautiful!
Karen says
Thank you! The funny thing is I did not expect this to turn out so pink. I was initially going for gold and bronze, but after I was in it I just decided to go with it. ? You just never know with eyeshadow, right? I hope you’re having a great day!
Ruchita says
Love this look! It’s so pretty. And I love the lip colors you used too.
My birthday is in August and I had to look up the stone! It is peridot.
Going to the grocery store these days is the highlight of my week. 🙂
Karen says
Ooh, peridot is so pretty! Love that bright and vibrant shade of green. It reminds me of plants! You know what my favorite thing is to do when I hit up the grocery store? I go there first thing in the morning just an hour or two after it opens up — that way I don’t have to deal with too many people!
kellly says
Oh my gosh, that’s such a pretty look! I wish I could wear colors like that, but pinks and reds from MAC and UD are made with carmine and I’m allergic. Those colors look so beautiful on you and your application/blending looks professional! I’ve never been very good at putting more than one color on my eyelids and calling it a day!
I know what you mean about Trader Joe’s being a life event lately! Lockdown, 6 months and counting. We get smoke from the west coast fires around here, too. My eyes burned all day yesterday as bad as if I had used carmine red eye shadow on them!
Karen says
Hi Kellly,
Aww, thanks! If I can do a multi-shadow look you can too! It’s just blending and figuring out what placements works best for ya. A bunch of trial and error, ya know?
I’m sorry to hear that the smoke is still lingering up where you live. Today we had the first blue skies and clouds in over a week and good air quality! I’ve stepped outside today just take deep breaths and look up at the sky. I hope things get better there soon!
janine says
My gemstone is ruby .. not into it so much. I’m trying to do a home gym and was on a waitlist for concept 2 rower it’s a lot of fun! Took me 9 weeks but eBay etc had them marked up double! Big demand.
You like the LM Mascara? I think it’s pretty nice! Btw your lashes are looking extra long and lush❤️❤️
Karen says
Yes, the LM mascara is amaze! My new go-to!
Nikki Wogoman says
I have this palette sitting in my Ulta bag, along with the Raw Energy (purple) and Tiger’s Eye pencils and Power High (orangey copper) gloss. I’ll probably have to wait until October to actually order them, because a bunch of other things I’ve ordered have shipped in close succession, but they’re in my bag.
Savannah says
This looks great on you! Mine is Aquamarine (boring) but I absolutely adore garnet, citrine and Emerald. In particular Emerald- which is such a regal and stunning gemstone. I just got my first piece of Emerald jewelry- a ring. I’m ecstatic for it! I have pieces in amethyst, green amethyst (which is a stunning, watery green color), peridot (which practically glows), garnet, ruby and citrine. In short, I love gemstones but not my own (ha!)
