Dressed to Impress! Benefit Gives Their Creaseless Cream Shadows a Makeover, Introduces New Packaging and a Bunch of New Shades

January 22nd, 2013 by Karen 32 Comments

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows
Holy Smokes! Just My Two Cents, but I hope you don’t mind that I’m wearing my Bikini-Tini. Translation: Here I’m wearing the newly repackaged $19 Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows in Bikini-Tini, My Two Cents and Holy Smokes

If, when you read the title of this post, your eyes bugged out and you felt a sudden surge of panic as you exclaimed, “OMG! Did Benefit get rid of Skinny Jeans!?” chillax, kitty cat (as I often tell Tabs).

No need to shake your fist angrily, and shout like we’re in the audience on The Maury Povich Show. Benefit’s got our back.

Yes, they repackaged their Creaseless Cream Shadows. Yes, they added some new colors. Yes, they discontinued some of the old-school shades (RIP, Sippin’ N Dippin’), but they did keep three all-star shades from the existing line, and one of ’em is Skinny Jeans, THANK GAWD!

BAMF!Because if they’d gotten rid of Skinny Jeans, first, I would’ve freaked! — then, I would’ve had my unicorn teleport me to Sephora to pick up every last pot. Then, I would’ve cryogenically frozen them to keep them fresh for the day when I’m buried next to Tabs in his pyramid…

My point is this: don’t panic (she says, rocking you back and forth gently).

Of the 10 new Creaseless Creams, seven are new shades, and three — Skinny Jeans, R.S.V.P. and Birthday Suit — are old-school MVPs.

So wipe that glittery perspiration from your perfectly plucked eyebrows. Things are gonna be okay. 🙂

I’m waiting to hear back from Benefit about the formula they used for these and whether it’s new or remained the same, but as far as I can tell, these new versions look, feel and behave like the previous Creaseless Creams.

Lightweight and creamy, they’re easy to build up in layers or apply sheer, and they last on my lids all day long. They also remain the same 0.16-ounce size and price: $19.

Um…anyone else getting a Paul & Joe vibe? Not that I’m complaining. I love how these look (part of me hopes the Bene-babes go full-on Paul & Joe cat lady one of these days).

Oh, and Benefit did something kinda neat with these I’ve never seen before with a cream shadow…

Notice the “B” logo and girl silhouette on these pots? See that block of color there? That’s actually the bottom of the pot.

WEIRD! These actually sit like they’re upside-down, which I think’s pretty cool because that’s how I usually store my cream shadows — upside-down.

I’ve been doing it that way for years and years, ever since a MAC artist told me that it kept cream shadows from drying.

I think it helps… When I screw the caps on tightly and store them upside-down, they do seem to stay creamier longer.

With these, I like how you can see the colors through the tops, but I don’t know… Maybe I’m just a butterfingers, but for some reason, these new caps seem a little tougher to close.

I keep having to double check and make sure I’ve screwed them on correctly. Just something to think about if you’re clumsy like me and/or always in a hurry.

I’ll update you in a week or two, but so far, I’m totally loving coppery My Two Cents, bronzy Bronze Have More Fun and light pink Bikini-Tini.

Those are my faves! If you like neutral shadows, too, they have the makings of an ultimate trio.

The new Creaseless Creams debut on Benefit counters, in stores and online this March. Keep your eyes peeled! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Phew, I just got Stiletto! The new packaging is AWESOME. So smart, you can see the colors at one glance! Although, they are not stackable it seems like. AHHH, it doesn’t matter. I hope we get them here!

Oh, wow! Those do look really Paul & Joe. Feels a little odd for the brand (I think I liked the old jars more?), but I’m really curious to hear what the blogosphere in general thinks of the repackaging!

    Super-cute boxes, too 😀

I am not sure that I like this new design and can’t believe that they discontinued Stiletto, the best eye shadow colour ever.I never met a girl who did not like it yet. At least I have all the shades from the “previous” line that I liked.

I am not feeling the new design although I do see the Paul & Joe reference quite strongly. I don’t know, doesn’t seem to gel with the rest of Benefit to me. That said, I’m with you on Skinny Jeans. If they plan to discontinue that, I’m stocking up!

I’m not too sure about the new packaging, but I’m glad that Birthday Suit and Skinny Jeans stayed (I own both)! I’m also eyeing No Pressure and My Two Cents. Glad to hear the great formula stays the same!

Hooray for keeping Brithday Suit! I love to pair it with UD Smog shadow 😀 I really prefer the old packaging by Benefit, but I’m more concerned with whether or not they changed the formula. Love it as it was!

OMG, these are so cute! You’re right – Skinny Jeans does amazing things on your skin! I remember you mentioning it in an unsung heroes post. The boxes these shadows come in are so pretty!

I’m not sure I love the new redesign aesthetically (but I generally don’t love Benefit’s packaging, so I’m really not their target market!). But, I think designing cream shadows so you have to store them upside down is totally brilliant – so props to them, that’s a fantastic idea!

I am in a panic. are these plastic pots or glass ones? If anyone is looking for discontinued shades, head over to allcosmeticswarehouse. I still need sippin n dippin! and Flatter me! art deco design gets a thumbs up, though.

I for one am absolutely loving the new design. I don’t know if I will get these though. The only cream eyeshadows I have tried are the color tattoos and I am not a fan. I find them too dry and draggy. I have a hard time getting the color to apply evenly as well. Will have to take a trip to sephora aand try these out.

Yeah, the packaging is very Paul and Joe, it’s just Benefit decided to lean vanilla rather than strawberry for the color. I really want to try the new colors. I hope the lighter shades aren’t too frosty.

Well, I already have Skinny Jeans and Birthday Suit and the only other one I was really looking at was RSVP, so I guess I’m safe as far as the discontinued shades are concerned. And I really like the look of Always A Bridesmaid and No Pressure. So I guess the relaunch works for me.

I’ve heard great things about the Benefit Creaseless Creams. I would love to try Holy Smokes and Two Cents just for the names hahaha. Blue My Mind looks a little pale for me for a blue, but still pretty. Sounds like I’ll have to try Skinny Jeans since it got such rave reviews from you and others!

Fantastic post, I want them all! I’m quite excited about Bikini-tini, Two Cents & No Pressure, very pretty. I find I’m a bit disappointed by the new packaging though, they don’t seem to quite fit into the rest of the Benefit range however I think the upside-down idea is great. Do you know if these are hitting stores worldwide in March or just the US?

I have a several of these in the old packaging. Bronze Have More Fun – is that similar/same my beloved “Busy Signal”? I may have to pick up another “Strut” in case they don’t have a comparable shade with new packaging/shades.

Any news on the formula? And the shades, are they really the same as the old ones? I am especially interested in Birthday Suit. Would be good to now since I live in Sweden and have to order it from the US.
