Dior Cristal Collection Summer 2009: A Few Swatches and Product Pictures

March 20th, 2009 by Karen 55 Comments

‘Sup, pretties! Here’s a peek at three products from Dior’s upcoming Cristal Collection, which arrives at Dior counters in May — Electric Lights eyeshadow palette ($56), Coral Riviera blush ($42) and Addict High Shine lipstick in Artist Pink ($26).

These blues, corals and pinks get me so excited that my mind feels like it’s going a zillion miles a minute. I have no choice but to spew with a list!

  • The Electric Lights eyeshadow palette is giving me hella good MAC Cool Heat flashbacks. The shimmery purplish blue shadow in center? Instant love!
  • Coral Rivera blush, a shimmery gold coral, is already available for purchase on the Nordstrom website. It bears a striking resemblance to one of my favorite Nars blushes, Torrid.
  • Right after I applied Artist Pink lipstick on my lips I did a little jig in my living room, fo’ reals! It has the cutest tiny flecks of pink and gold glitter.

This Dior-inspired conniption may cause me to spontaneously combust in front of my computer! If that happens, please remember that I loved you all as much as I loved concealer.

      Hi BJ,

I went nuts when I saw the blush, too. The pattern is so pretty! It broke my heart to dig into it.

Have you ever tried NARS Torrid? It’s kinda similar.

Ohh ouch my wallet hurts looking at the riviera blush (and the word riviera makes me think of home so i automatically want to buy it) lol

I like the shadows but i know myself.. i tend to use warm hues and only bright liners very sparingly. Id never use it but i would look at it

      Hi Tali,

LOL, I’m the same way about makeup names. Like, if the name of a lipstick or eyeshadow something makes me laugh or reminds me of San Francisco I will probably want to buy it!

The shadows are pretty without being scary 80’s blue. Today, I went to costco with my mom and found a pot of MAC eyeshadow for FIVE BUCKS!!! The shade is called ‘newly minted’ and is a matte green/turquoise. I’m taking risks with my makeup now. 🙂

      Hi Heidi,

Oh yah, I like that one. It’s from last year’s Matte2 release. 🙂 Wow, you really can’t beat $5 MAC eyeshadow!

That’s great that you’re taking more risks with your makeup! I bet it would look really pretty on the lid…

The deep indigo shade is definitely one of those stop-you-in-your-tracks colors. 🙂

Benefit makes a loose shadow called Punk Royalty that is similar — it’s a touch more on the purple side and has tiny flecks.

I’ve been dying to get my paws on this collection too! I can’t decide if I want Coral Riviera or Rose Brazilia – have you see the rose one? I like Torrid so I reckon I’d like Coral Riviera. Any thoughts Karen?

      Hi ParisB,

I haven’t seen Rose Brazilia yet. As for Torrid and Coral Riviera, Torrid is more of a red-coral, while Coral Riviera is more of a peachy coral. The gold in Coral Riviera is more a shimmer, while in Torrid it comes through as small glitter flecks. For a brighter cheek, I’d go with Torrid, but for more of a shimmery glow I’d go with Coral Riviera. Lemme know if you have any more questions… I hope this helps!

      Hi Rasilla,

      It’s a really pretty palette!

I didn’t like to wear blues until recently. I’ve found that mixing them with warm browns (MAC Saddle, Soft Brown, Brown Script) makes them more wearable.

I love the lip color and blush! If only I could wear blues like that :(. I can’t work them at all haha. Occasionally a navy liner or deep navy shadow in my crease(to make my eyes seem bigger/deeper) works but nothing beyond that. I stick to good ole warm colors.

      Hi Kailey,

Hmm, have you tried mixing blues with warmer browns? You might be able to work it if you lay down something like MAC Soft Brown on your lid or crease and then blend in the blues. 🙂

      Hi Tanya,

You’re welcome! If the colors in this one seem too bright you could just always keep it on the lid for a controlled pop o’ color.

Isn’t Dior the best? I took out my Dior concealer this morning (it’s been a minute since I’ve used it) and maaaan it’s good stuff.

What’s the shade in the middle like, Karen? Is it a very matte blue?
