Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Lipsticks: High Shine, Medium Coverage, Pure Chanel

September 22nd, 2009 by Karen 30 Comments

chanel rouge allure laque review

It’s sure been an exciting couple o’ days in Coco-ville…

As if the new Jade Collection nail polishes weren’t hot enough, Chanel junkies can also drool over the new Rouge Allure Laque Lipsticks ($32).

The eight new liquid lipstick colors offer medium color coverage and high shine, with shades including Santal (a nude), Ming (a nude rose), Phoenix (a candy pink), Mandarin (a coral), Dynastie (a rosy pink), Coromandel (a red), Dragon (a true red) and Imperial (a deep rose).

What do you think about Dynastie and Imperial? Good colors for fall?

I haven’t felt my prettiest lately due to the packing I’ve been doing, but these two cuties have certainly helped.

Both shades are taste-free but have a light rose scent. Texture wise, they feel smooth, thin and non-sticky on my lips — reminiscent of Dior’s Creme de Gloss.

I haven’t had enough time with them to offer a full review yet (I’m unsure about wear time and hydration), but I’ll followup with more details soon.

All this Chanel-ness invigorates me! It’s like the makeup equivalent of push-ups. 🙂

My sisters in the Church of the Double C’s, can I get an AMEN?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Yadi,

Girl, these are really nice! You’ll love the packaging — it feels very smooth and heavy, kinda like mahjong tiles.

How have you been? Did you guys find a place yet?

      Hi Leah,

YAY! The Beiges quad is the BEST. I could seriously wear at least one color from that quad every day.

      Hi Blovet Beauty,

Is it the darkness of the shades? Perhaps maybe if you did a application or picked a nude shade…

Amen, karen! I am a chanel addict and these are so purty. 🙂
I spotted these in macy’s over the weekened. It was so busy with people and a salesperson who looked like she was determined to sell, I just left. I don’t like pressure.

I will check these out at my bloomies counter after I haul my mac style black goodies this week. 🙂

I got this from my mom when they came out, in Dragon and I swear it’s the prettiest red I have ever seen. When you put just a little it looks like a berry stain but if you apply a coat or 2 it looks like dark vampy red!! It does bleed a little, but otherwise it’s perfect. I’d wear it all the time, but it’s more of a night color.

      Hi Sonja,

I think Dragon is next on my list. As for the bleeding, have you tried using a lip liner? I’m thinking that might help to keep the product in place a little better.

    Hi Karen!
I’ve been thinking about buying a lip liner forever but I just keep avoiding it- I wouldn’t have much use from it. So instead I just dab a bit of liquid foundation on a qtip and line the lips, it stops it from bleeding.

Dragon is such a beautiful color, if only I could be brave enough to wear it from time to time!

I think if I were to pick one of these up it would be Dragon because I just love the creamy red with a light sheen, but at over $30 for a lippy it would probably be a once in a blue moon treat. I am looking forward picking up some Chanel items though, I would love to get the eye shadow quad #16 Murano.

Amen! you know I love the Chanel! I haven’t tried these yet though and will keep tuned in to find out about wear and hydration. I usually find Chanels to be best lipsticks for hydration.

Amen! The Lacques are amazing! I picked up Dragon for those moments when a siren-red lippie is called for! The best part is that it’s so long-wearing and when it does fade, it leaves a gorgeous stain effect! I love them, and your swatches are making me lemming Imperial too! 😉

    Hello Beautiful Girl,
Put me down for the Imperial. Damn that Karl L. Who would have thought that I would be plunking down $32 for some junk to put on my old lady lips. hahahahahah
Now he’s starting to cut into my wine money. LOL!!
I am going to the CC counter on October 9th when a premier
Chanel makeup artist (Now what in the world is that-probably just a different person who will get you to reliquish your money.) But I am not needing anything since I bought all of the fall things and the holiday collection will not be in the stores yet. I am looking at the Noir items and the beautiful model. However, those dark lips and eyes at my age would be classifying me as a woman of the streets. But maybe I could do a Jeanne Moreau look or Catherine Deneuve or how about dear Brigitte Bardot. Now those are some beauties. But one more thing while I have your attention. What do you think about short hair? Did you see the photo of Michelle Williams on one of the fashion magazines. She looked very cute in her neo-pixie. I have a very short stacked bob which I just had cut and am dying to chop it all off? Well, let me know what you think about that Noir collection. Can we do something with it besides the nails??? Louise aka old lady

Wow. They look so creamy and smooth on your lips. The colors are to die for! $32 is a bit expensive but it IS Chanel and I did just spend $45 on the Givenchy Rouge Poetique which is basically just a clear gloss. Shameful 😛

I picked up Imperial today and I am in LOVE with it. A couple things I’ve noticed:

    – The colour lasts for hours. I’ve been wearing it since about 12 pm (it’s 5:34 here) and it literally hasn’t lightened or flaked off even a smidget.

    – It’s not very hydrating. While the colour is still plenty vibrant and deep as the hours wear on it pretty much turns into a stain. I’m wearing just the laque: no top coat of gloss or liner and I’ve noticed my lips are actually feeling dry. They don’t look dry though. Just matte.

    – It’s easiest to apply with a brush. (I usually apply everything right out the tube ROFL.)

Verdict? The colour is long lasting but the shine doesn’t appear to be. Still… Love it!
