What Do You Know About Buxom Bold & Sexy Gel Lipstick? Inquiring Minds Want to Know…

December 8th, 2015 by Karen 25 Comments

buxom bold sexy gel lipstick

Bold & Sexy… Sounds like Buxom named their latest lipstick after Tabs. 🙂

Yeah, “bold” and “sexy” are two words that in no way describe me at the moment. It’s more like tired and bloated (LOL!) from hauling Baby Girl around, my li’l basketball, and not getting enough sleep, but maybe if I wear Buxom Bold & Sexy Lipstick ($22), some of its bold and sexy energy will rub off on me.

Maybe…

I bumped into this the other day at Sephora. I went to distract myself/recharge my batteries after having to do some medical test that took three hours and involved three (four?) needle pokes. It was for this thing called a three-hour glucose screening to figure out if you have gestational diabetes, which — WAH! — I hope I don’t have, because I love carbs and sugar SO much.

I’m still waiting on the results…

Anywho, after the test, I needed to erase the needle trauma and go look at makeup, so I headed to Sephora, which was where I spotted these…

Have you used them before? I like the way they sound. They’re gel lipsticks, which in most cases means a super lightweight formula, and these are, indeed, billed as lightweight.

They come in matte and satin finishes and a bunch of really pretty colors. I saw reds, corals, purples, pinks and a few nudes.

I’m so curious! If you’ve used them before, let me know.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hi Karen, these are amazing! I have one of them, it’s called Forbidden Berry. I wrote about it on my blog, if you’d like to have a look. http://herandmakeup.com/?p=2830

They last forever and feel really nice on the lips and are crazy pigmented!

I had to do the glucose test a month or so ago — it is such a drag! I hope you pass with flying colors.

      Hi Tiffany,

LOL, I stuffed my face when I got home. CARBS, CARBS, CARBS! Did you fall asleep right after drinking the glucose drink? I conked right out!

I am not familiar with Buxom brand at all. The lip colors look pretty but look like every other brand. I guess, they all have to do similar shades and products. I am interested in UD revolution lip colors.
I remember having to have one or two tests during my pregnancy because of my age at the time, mostly for the baby. They wanted to due genetic tests because both my husband’s and my heritage is Eastern European Jewish. After a while I just said, I’d leave it in God’s hands. We had a beautiful, healthy baby boy who is now a handsome, handful, 14 soon to be 15 year old young man.

I hope all works out for you. Enjoy this time and the holidays. Next year, you’ll have another member to celebrate with.

    Happy Holiday!

They are great. You put them on and they stay put. I have Sinful Cinnamon. I love the colour! Sometimes I put on a little clear gloss to give them some additional moisture. 🙂

Hi Karen! Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is good and you don’t have gd!

I have the Rebel Rose color and I love, love, love it! It stays put and it’s nice and light feeling on the lips! Definitely worth the moolah!

I haven’t heard of them or used them but I’d love to find a new nude. My doppelgänger’s mom is visiting from Nigeria & she’s made a special request to go to the “makeup store” i.e. Sephora. And of course I’m all too happy to oblige. Since I made a Sephora haul in November for the VIB/VIB Rouge sale, there’s nothing that I want at the moment (gasp!). But I do have a $20 off $50 purchase so I plan to use it for my “new” Nigerian mom while I’m visiting them. Feel free to send any recs. She’s totally into makeup- a woman after my own heart ?

These Buxom lipsticks are really nice. I have Evocative Petal and it is moisturizing, opaque and they last about 4 hours. I really like the color, too. It is a nice, muted red color. It reminds me a bit of Givenchy’s Le Rouge in Rose Dentelle.

Are you always going back for a second test in the States? In Germany, we just need to do the one, and that was bad enough. Went out for brunch with the husband afterwards, to load up on calories just in case I might have had gd!
Feeling bold and sexy is far from my personal state of mind at the moment, I feel more like a stranded whale than a sexy Tabs!

I don’t have any of these but I do have Dolly from their regular lipstick line and love it. The texture is so smooth and creamy, so I’m thinking these will probably be good, too. Especially if the color is long-lasting. I’ll have to give it a try.
I grinned when you said you had to go to Sephora to decompress. I did exactly that same thing this past Saturday after having a hell-week. It’s a wonderful mood-altering place! I can’t feel bad when I have 30,000 lipstick colors to try and eyeshadows to swatch!!

    Hi Karen,

Sorry to hijack this post with an unrelated topic, but I sent you an email the other day through the comments section on your blog.

The topic of my email however was not unrelated to lips, which is why this post reminded me 😉

    Did you get it?

    Many thanks,

    Debbie

Sorry to hear about your tests! Feel better mamma. 🙂

I’ve never tried these but tarababyz on Youtube raved about them. She bought one or two and then went out and bought 5 more or something. She said they were really comfortable on the lips.

I can’t help with the lippie info but I’m sending you moral support and good vibes about your test. It sounds awful and I’m crossing my fingers that the results are a resounding NO. I’m with you on the carb love and I know how you feel about your sweets, too. Good luck and let us know how it turns out! <3

I’ve heard really good things about these but haven’t used them yet. Good luck with the glucose screening! Did you do the one hour test and get a positive? I had a false positive on that one and wound up with the 3 hour test. A horrible thing to do to a pregnant lady…make her not eat and then drink that syrup >:(

Hi Karen. I have Naturally Daring. It’s a peachy pinky shade with a touch of nude, if that makes sense. I LOVE it. The formula is really nice. I’m definitely getting additional colors. You need to try them!

Buxom built their brand on being lip plumping. I still expect their products to tingle and be that lip plumping, moisture rich product. Though to expect that from an eyeshadow is just insane. 😉 But I haven’t tried these because I suspect these wont do that and to me there are plenty of other gel lipsticks at the price point I’d rather have.

Ugh the three hour test. They made me do it after doing the one hour twice! Twice! I came out positive for GD. That was a pain b/c I craved cereal at night in my third tri. My daughter is perfectly healthy tho.

I have two of these lipsticks. A matte one in Cinful Cinnamon and a satin one in Forbidden Berry. I really like them.

Hey Karen!!! I have two of these lipsticks in the matte finish. Pink Decoy is a beautiful and bright pink but I did notice that it particularly clung to any dry patches on my lip and I had to wipe it away and reapply. I also have Evocative Pearl which is such an amazing color! It’s like a deep rose, mauvy color and applies like a dream. They are very pigmented and the casing is cute! Hope you try them out! I want to get some more colors.

I have one of them in Classified Crimson, and can I just say…matte lipsticks have never felt so hydrating before! These lipsticks are da bomb.com, because they’re hydrating! Surprising for a matte lipstick. They don’t crumble, last for the longest time, and don’t make my lips feel like the sahara dessert after a couple of hours. I guess it’s the gel formula? Anyhoo, I’m raring to get another one in the shade Rebel Rose…
