A Lip Look with Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals

February 11th, 2010 by Karen 72 Comments

Come on, ride the [coral] train… hey, ride it (WOO, WOO)! Spring 2010 has been an overnight trip on the Coral Express, ladies. Headed where? The Land of Coral, of course.

I guess what I’m trying to say is we’ve been seeing A LOT of coral lately. 🙂

Today the lippies in the Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals collection fueled the fire.

Because I’m still working my way through a neutral lip phase, I wanted something that wasn’t too va-va-va voom, so I layered Coral Reef Metallic Lip Color (a shimmery pinkish coral, $22) beneath Coral Sand Shimmer Lip Gloss (a golden peach, $20) and really like how it turned out.

Coral Reef (left) and Coral Sand (right)

I also tried them on their own…

Am I the only one wearing coral today? If you’ve also climbed aboard the Coral Express, throw your hands up in the air, and wave ’em around like you just don’t care!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    so pretty.
I swatched the two new cabo/calypso coral pot rouges – I don’t know if I like them very much. It’s very orange on my skin. I just with that they would change the gloss brush applicators to the doe foot. I stopped using the glosses because of how much i dislike the brush! I took an inventory of my glosses – nope no coral in sight! Guess I’ll have to do some coral shopping!

I’m wearing NARS chihuahua today -so I’m rocking the nude lip as usual!

Ooh, do you have Lychee Luxe Lipglass? It’s like a coral red… but it’s not scary, really!

I also am not a fan of BB’s brush applicators. Doe foot all the way!!

Yeah, she introduced me to it a few years ago. If you wanna take it to the next level you can layer Mahogany lip pencil beneath it… that’s how my mom wears it! 🙂

Just bought a coral lipstick from MAC today from their spring collection. Pink Salmon- awesome coral color without a loud punch! LOVE IT!

p.s- what kind of eyeshadow colors should I pair up with coral lips?? I’m thinking a beige with a hint of ivory shimmer?

Hi Kim, That sounds very pretty. Maybe do that on the lid and add thick cat liner? It’s kind of a retro look, but totally cute.

You could also do khaki, gold… maybe even teal!

I’ve been slowly going insane, but the cats have been keeping me company! (I take care of foster cats that have issues, so currently I have four) When I didnt have my laptop for three days, THOSE were the hard times. And when we lost power for over 20 hours.

Wow. I think I’m doing relatively well all things considered. 😉

Unfortunately, federal government and schools are all open tomorrow, which means I have to venture out, and try not to get hit by a car (they plowed all the snow into the sidewalks).

We can’t handle snow either – hence all the closings!

Amazing. I swear, the minute Nor Cal gets a little bit of rain everybody (myself included) starts freaking out! We act like it’s armageddon! I would’ve entered ORANGE ALERT CRANKY if I lived out your way… you East Coasters are the shizz, for reals.

That’s very cool that you take care of foster kittehs. Do you ever get tempted to adopt them? It must be hard to give them up after you form a bond with them.

Haha, I have friends from New York that are making fun of us (Maryland/DC area SHUT DOWN for this storm) but I have to agree – when there’s snow on the ground – I refuse to drive.

Oh my god, I am so tempted! One of them, George, wakes me up by jumping on the bed and walking up my body (while I am on my side) and follows me everywhere. If I could, I would adopt him in a heartbeat. Fortunately, they’re all going to good homes and this way, I can take in more when they find homes! (This is my mantra anytime I think about adopting them!)

And I really am getting to know different cat personalities. Its kind of weird and interesting…

That is so cute. Tabs does the same thing… except he steps on my lovely lady lumps, and that never really feels pleasant, as he’s now a husky 15 pounds. It does wake me up though, LOL!

How many kitties have you fostered? And have you ever kept one?

          • Sarah says

            February 12th, 2010 at 10:59 am

Haha, it IS effective! I have no idea how much George weighs, but let’s just say that sometimes HE makes it up to a ledge but his belly doesn’t…

I’m pretty new to the whole thing (January 1st) and I take in the “problem” cats, whether its because they’re semi-feral (Princess Sparkle and Bentley) or they need medication to clear up an infection (George & Georgia) so I keep them longer than normal. Which is a long way of saying I’ve had 8 go to homes, and there’s four currently. George, Georgia and Bentley have been with me since January while others have cycled through.

I can’t keep them since I’m not sure how long I’m going to be in the area and there’s no guarantee my next apartment will accept pets, but my family has two rescue cats that came from foster homes. I really do want to adopt George though… So I try not to think about it very often!

Purrrrty! I love this look. My favorite look latley has been a pretty, pink/coral glossy lip like this one with big doll eyes with falsies. This color is SOO PRETTY! I have the gloss, but not the lipstick (which I need, now) I layer it with MAC’s Vegas Volt. It’s an electric creamy peach, and it’s gorgeous against fair skin with a hint of peach blush. I have been experiementing with spring looks so when it arrives I have tons of new ideas.

I used to spend more time in the sun and my brown hair would have great golden-red highlights and my skin would be tan. Coral was my color. My prom dress was a bright coral. Then I found sunscreen and limit my time in the sun. My hair is ashier, my skin is pale and coral looks wrong on me. But I so want to be able to wear it again.
