7 Reasons to Love NARS

7 Reasons to Love NARS

    nars modern love palette 2

  1. NARS Modern Love Palette Rocks the Cradle of Eyeshadow Love
With a mix of shimmery neutrals; sexy, sparkling plum and a sprinkling of basic brown and black all together in the same place, this well-coordinated eye palette still packs some serious potential.
  2. nars multiple duo orgasm south beach open

  3. NARS Multiple Duo in Orgasm/South Beach: With a Name Like That, It Has To Be Good!
This Multiple Duo is one of five and comes with shimmery, peachy pink Orgasm and South Beach, its shimmery coral partner in crime. At $45, it’s a little on the expensive side, but considering how lovely the colors are, and that both shades purchased individually would set you back $74, it’s not a bad deal at all.
  4. nars cosmetics shrinagar lipstick

  5. NARS Shrinagar Lipstick: Berry Sexy!
Shrinagar was the only lipstick color in Nars’ last spring release, but never mind when it arrived. It looks great any time of year! It’s a sheer wash of deep, glossy raspberry with microscopic flecks of silver — complex, even flashing purple at certain angles. Picture hot librarians in nerdy chic glasses! 🙂
  6. nars cosmetics hula hula eyeshadow duo

  7. NARS Says Aloha with the Hula Hula Eyeshadow Duo
This shimmery eyeshadow duo feels like poetry on my eyes… One of two eyeshadow duos from the NARS spring 2009 collection, Hula Hula comes with two cool-toned eyeshadows, the first in shimmery strawberry pink and the other in gold. For all my glitter girls, both colors in the duo have bangin’ flakes of glitter — HUGE chunks like the glitter in NARS’ Super Orgasm Blush, BAM!
  8. nars-mounia-blush1

  9. NARS Mounia Blush: More Wearable Than It Looks
The first time I swatched this shimmery reddish brown coral with golden pearl, I was convinced it would cause crazy clown cheeks! It looked almost like bright orange paint in the pan and on the back of my hand. To my surprise, the shade doesn’t look anywhere near as bright on my cheeks. It delivers a bright yet natural, just-pinched flush — not at all what I expected!
  10. nars-supervixen-lips-2

  11. Live Nude Gloss! NARS Supervixen Lipgloss
Movie moment! If I were starring in a blockbuster, this is how I’d want my lips to look in my closeups, with hair perfectly tousled, of course, and C. Bale feeding me croissants and coffee in bed (assuming he wasn’t being mean to his mum, oh, gawd).
  12. nars-mediteranee-eyeshadow-duo

  13. NARS Mediteranee Face of the Day: Orange, Anyone?
Here’s a bright look I really like (despite my confused, far-off stare in the picture at the bottom) using the orange and gold shades from the NARS Mediteranee eyeshadow duo and products from MAC Cosmetics, Shu Uemura, Laura Mercier and Chanel.

TGIF, ladies! Looks like we made it through another workweek. I hope yours wasn’t bad, but if it was, I hope it gets better. 🙂

This morning I reminisced about some of my favorite NARS products of the past few months. Actually, since NARS is so good about maintaining the availability of their older products, one or two of these are from last year, but all are still available through their website.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Wow!! NARS certainly has lots of good stuff. Heard so much about their blushes, esp Orgasm, of course, and still lemming for the Modern Love palette….

    Have a good weekend, Karen!

Mmm, supervixen! Love the name, love the visual. I think I need to make this mine.

The Mounia blush looks great on you! It just goes to show you how you need to swatch everything. So many things (especially on color-forward lines like NARS) look spooky in the container, but fab on the skin. I do wonder what it would do on my lily white skin? I fear I would be approaching the clown territory…

      Hi Stef,

I think you could do it, but you’d have to use a fan brush and a really light touch. I bet it would give you a great Snow White kinda flush!

      Hi TaLaisa,

It’s *really* pretty in person. Gotta love how NARS keeps the seasonal stuff in the permanent collection. It makes it *that* much easier to fall in love with items from the line.

      How’s your Friday going?

You inspired my with your photo the other day, so I’m wearing a look with the Habanera duo! I paired it with a sheer berry lippie and it makes for a terrific summer-fall transitional look! Yay! I love being seasonal! 😉

      Hi Lexi,

Yeah, I go through intense NARS phases. How are you liking the Stella gloss?

BTW, do you have Pillow Talk? I think that’s next on my list.

Hey Karen, Happy Friday! I looooove NARS, it’s just oh-so-expensive! Orgasm-South Beach is hawt, though I’ve been more of a Orgasm-Laguna person myself. And as for NARS Mounia, I love it as a pleasant surprise! Thanks for another fun post 😀

I love, love, love Shrinagar. I’ve been wearing it the last few days and have gotten so many compliments. It feels great on too.

I’m treating myself tomorrow because I hope to have some job interviews coming up. I need a new powder. I’m a little shiny and can’t decide if I want the MUFE HD translucent powder, MAC prep & prime, or Benefit Matterial Girl. Thoughts?

      Hi Steph B.,

I love all of ’em equally. If you’re super oily and want it also use it for pics, I’d opt for the Prep+Prime.

Good luck on your interviews! What position are you going for?

Thanks for the tip Karen. There is a MAC store next to a Sephora near me so I did half my face in each yesterday. The MUFE looked best initially, but after about half an hour and the rest of the day the MAC was the clear winner. Added bonus for being cheaper. I’ll go back tomorrow or Tuesday to pick it up.

I’m going for a government gig — management and program evaluation type stuff. Fingers crossed!

Pillow Talk is next on my list too – I think I’d like Stella better on top of a lipstick – I’m still getting use to it on it’s own.

hey karen, i just wanted to tell you that the makeup you have on in that picture makes you look stunning!!!
The shadows or whatever you used to apply the makeup around your eyes made it stand out more. the blush suits you very well, and you’re right its just like a perfect pinch of flush! i’ve seen various photos of the colors you have on your cheeks and by far this is the most natural looking on you! I usually never comment but this time i had too! i just thought it would be nice if someone told me i looked good. i love wearing blush…and no one ever tells me if that shade suits me or if that shade is way off! so mounia blush is definitely for you!
