Question: do kids still say, “Will you go with me?” when they want to go steady? I’m asking for a very unhip friend (a.k.a. me).
Hmm… Now that I think about it, I also wonder if this still happens in person. Like, are kids texting to ask if someone wants to be their boyfriend or girlfriend now? Technology is crazy, man!
Anyway, I’m crushing on this $32 taupe eyeshadow palette from Clinique, and here are five reasons why you should be, too.
- Fine lines say what? The softly shimmering satin finishes stay outta those fine lines.
- A quad for all skin tones. Neither too warm nor too cool (Clinique is REALLY good at this; see their Teddy Quad) means that it works with almost all skin tones.
- Taupe is dope. If you’re a MAC Satin Taupe die-hard, you’ll love this, because every shade is like a riff on Satin Taupe.
- No panda eyes! Fallout is minimal (but still do your base first).
- It’s not going anywhere. Going Steady is part of the Clinique permanent collection, so if it does become a staple, there’s no need to worry about it disappearing anytime soon.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Haha, I totally remember that (not that anyone ever asked me, though). Idk, I met my hubby on “international Twitter” and neither of us actually proposed so I’m sure “courting” language is so different these days, even amongst the young ones. 😉
This quad is perfect for autumn, but it also reminds me of Valentine’s Day for some reason. Great smokey potential! I like your application. It complements your terrific “faery hair.” 🙂
I’ll investigate that for you but, since the youth of today does everything by snap, instagram and text, I’d guess that’s how the asking is done. I’ll check with the fellas. And now that I said “youth”, I’m laughing thinking of the “two yoots” from My Cousin Vinny. 🙂
This is a great look for you and I’m a bit ashamed that I just realized I don’t know what taupe is. I always thought it was sort of a pinkish beige. Apparently, it’s more purple. I must have been confusing it with mauve? I don’t think I paid enough attention to my 64 color crayon box!! I’m sure my secret is safe with you and your thousands of followers. HAHA!
Too funny… I say stuff like “young people” and “kids today.” When did I get so un-hip? Perhaps I was never that cool to start with, LOL!
Are you boys dating yet?!
I have to tell you that all the un-hip moms got an education on Monday. We had all the “aunts” and kids at the house for Canadian Thanksgiving (even though we’re not Canadian) and one of the nephews who was home from school said “OMG, Mom is SO bad with the emojis; it’s so uncomfortable sometimes”. So I said I thought she was spot on and to show me some examples. He pulled one up and ALL the boys – six of them between 15 and 19 years old – were like “oh, NO” and made the big-eye, embarrassed-for-us face (you’ll see that in about 10 years or so – HAHA!). They wouldn’t tell us what it meant to the young people but we found out from one of the other boys who was at college. So, even when you’re semi-hip, you still don’t know all the alternate meanings that kids apply to things! 🙂 Yes, both boys have very sweet girlfriends (who are also beautiful, smart and athletic – can you tell I like them?). One for about 8 months and the other for about 18 months. And, coincidentally, they go by the same name (different spelling and one is a shortened version of her actual name) so it’s easy for the Hubs to remember. You’d think. 🙂
These colors look amazing on you, wow!
I can’t remember the last time I used a Clinique shadow. I love their Lip Pop lipsticks and the Pop Blushes, too. Of course, Black Honey will forever be a favorite.
The smoky eye look you created is beautiful.
Hmmm, maybe I’ll have to revisit Clinique’s eyeshadows. I was a hardcore fan way back in the day, but then they changed their formula and there was almost no color saturation or staying power anymore. These look fabulous on you, though.
And re: your big announcement in today’s other post. Meeting Rosie made me tear up. She’s beautiful and I’m so happy for all of you.
Well my sister’s boyfriend proposed to her with a cake and all the stuff, and they’re 16. They broke up and are again together but this time neither had proposed, he jokes that now my sister has to do it.
I feel I’m getting so un-hip so fast.
If I could figure out how to make a smoky eye like that yours happen…! Those colors look so good, but I don’t think I could pull off the application. Eyeshadow is hard!
Lovely colors and you put together a fabulous look!!!! But none of those colors look taupe to me, at least on my screen. They are purples and pinks, no? Clinique puts this quad in their “Violets and Blues” category …
