What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.
I’m always down for a summery coral lippie, and Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Créatif ($37) is THE ONE.
Well…the one for this week, ha ha ha! ? Hello, have we met? My name is Karen, and I have a new coral crush every other day.
But that’s neither here nor there.
This one’s a matte liquid lipstick, but it’s unlike your typical dry and heavy/hello horizontal lip lines/cat butt liquid lippie sitch. It’s on the thinner side, like the NARS Powermattes, so you can’t feel it sitting on your lips, and it lasts about the same amount of time (~5 hours), but it’s much, much easier to control as it glides across your lips.
The Powermattes are runny like water, so they get all over the place (my teeth, my shirt, on the wall across the room — SERIOUSLY), but Créatif’s Rouge Allure formula is thicker — more like a very thin gel than a liquid — so it’s easier to corral it into corners and your Cupid’s bow.
But let’s talk about the shade. OH, MY CORAL-LOVIN’ HEART, THE SHADE! It’s a juicy pinkish coral. A Popsicle for your pout. I think you can wear it with pretty much anything, but when you pair it with a coral blush like Chanel Malice and a light dusting of bronzer (cheekbones, across the bridge of the nose and the crease, ’cause why the heck not!), suddenly you’re a tropical goddess, lounging in the best spot on the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and bathed in a pool of golden light while you trade flirty glances with the lifeguard.
Ah…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Lol! I believe the “wall across the room” before mattes, my lip glosses were everywhere! Ever go in for a hug with someone who is tight hugger? lol It was all over the side of his face HA! Great review, I can see why you love coral. It looks amazing on you!

I really don´t wear much mattes, I feel like my thin lips look even thinner without a satin sheen, but I agree, the color is stunning.

I want to be a tropical goddess!! I already have Malice. 🙂 It’s definitely a pretty color though, for some reason, pink and coral never look right on me. But, maybe Chanel will work its magic.

Lately I have been loving a more coral lip for summer. At the moment, I am wearing NARS lipgloss in Chihuahua which is described as guava tone. I also like the NARS velevet lip glides. They are matte, but not as matte or drying as liquid lipsticks, at least on me.
Have you seen the promos of the NARS eyeshadow quads for Fall yet? Just saw something about the Mojave & Singapore quads. very intriguing.
Be well!

oooh I love the pop of coral look you created with Creatif! so glowy, natural and laid back gorgeous, just the thing for summer. I am wary of matte lipsticks and liquid lipsticks, since my mature lips can’t handle anything too drying or that might creep around into my lip lines. Tinted balm has been my go-to this summer. But I am on a mission to find at least one good MLBB and one dramatic color matte option for fall, so I have one of these on order, in Amoureux. I am also excited to try the new Le Rouge Crayon Mat! I hope you have a chance to review a couple of those as well.
