Chanel Highway and Lost, the Two Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Liquid Lipsticks From the Fall 2017 Travel Diary Collection

Highway and Lost, the two Chanel Rouge Allure Ink liquid lipsticks from the fall 2017 Travel Diary collection

I wish these Chanel Rouge Allure Inks came with a calligraphy pen…because once upon a time (seventh grade), I took a calligraphy class, and I kicked B+ butt in it!

Don’t mess with my swash capital letters, homie!

These two $37 shades are from the fall Chanel Travel Diary collection. Lost is a pink beige that also lives in the permanent collection, and Highway is an LE mid-toned coral. Both of them are two of the quieter, mellower lip colors in the collection (if you want bright, go with Daylight).

Luxuriously lightweight

The Rouge Allure Inks are Chanel’s line of matte liquid lipsticks, and girl, they are cute — like, collectible cute! They come in fancy little frosted glass tubes, so they look like sample bottles of colorful Chanel perfume.

They’re unflavored and unscented, which is unusual for Chanel, and feel like a whisper across my lips… They’re also luxuriously lightweight and silky, with a thin, liquid-like consistency, as opposed to a mousse-like feel, which is popular in liquid lipstick land nowadays. If you’re a fan of thin liquid lippies like the NARS Powermatte Pigments, you’ll probably like how light they feel.

Super sheer

If you like sheer shades, you’re also in luck, because these are sheer. Shockingly sheer to me, especially compared to other liquid lipsticks.

When I wear Pinkish beige Lost, I can still see the freckle on my bottom lip peeking through, and same goes for coral Highway, which has a little more kick. That one’s maybe a pinky fingernail tip away from medium coverage.

Very limited wear time

I was surprised the first time I wore these because, with matte liquid lipsticks, I assume they’ll be full-coverage. I expected much more oomph and longer wear time, because Chanel calls these long-lasting, but they’re gone, baby, gone after a few sips from my fave mug.

Comfy with cute packaging

But they’re sheer, pricey, and they don’t last long. My dry, fickle lips will stick with the NARS Powermattes for now.

Still, they’re Chanel…

I broke my blender 🙁

You guys, I’m so bummed! I was making a smoothie the other day, and, well, if you must know, it was Persian cucumber smoothie with spinach, frozen cherries, frozen pineapple, a white peach and Zico coconut water…

Anyway, I broke the blender. I was washing the glass part in my sink and it dropped. Now I don’t know if should get a replacement blender jar (it’s only $10), or if I should use it as an excuse to buy a whole new blender.

The one I have/had is an Osterizer classic, which I’ve had for years, but I every time I walk by the Nutri blender at Target, my eyes get HUGE.

It looks cool, but I dunno… Do you have one? I’m strangely intrigued.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I would recommend getting a Bullet or some kind of small blender to make single serving smoothies, that’s what I use every morning!

Aww, bummer they’re not amaze-balls lippies… the packaging is so cute!!

Blender-wise, we have a Vitamix. It’s pretty intense, and probably heavier-duty than we need, but DANG GURL does it blend away seeds and things like a mofo! We had a Ninja for a while, and it worked just fine, but the Vitamix is a whole ‘nother ball game. (Plus it has a really fantastic warranty.)

After 20 some odd years, the Oster blender my husband brought into this marriage died. It got replaced with a Kitchen Aid. Works well enough for us. We’re not really smoothie people. It gets used when I need to puree something I’m cooking. Otherwise, it sits on a top shelf out of the way.
Being part of a family that saves, I would probably just buy the $10 replacement jar and use that until the motor gives out on the base.
I don’t mind sheer. So I might check these out. Wonder when they’ll hit the counters. I know they’re available at the Chanel site, but I hate buying colors untested.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
