Burt’s Bees Radiance Lotion Will Have You Channeling Your Inner Queen Bee

Holding court in my lotion kingdom…

So, here’s a bit of a confession, and I only call it a confession because you, dear readers, don’t know me that well, and my boyfriend is probably the only other one who knows this, but…I can be a grizzly beast in the winter.

Bodily speaking, I mean. Body hair, specifically. Body hair has become less and less taboo as the years have passed, and I find myself caring less and less in the winter.

I’m a habitual bikini waxer, but other than that, in the wintertime, it just makes things worse. I shave my legs, and my skin just dries out more. Who needs that?

testing-body-lotions-sparkle-meWell, despite my biggest excuses, I can’t resist trying a new body lotion, and if I’m going to try a new lotion, I want to feel like a baby dolphin when I do it. 🙂

Burt’s Bees Radiance Body Lotion is part of the brand’s Radiance family of products, which consists of an entire line of skin care. formulated with royal jelly, as well as sunflower oil and aloe, which contribute to the amazing scent.

After a very long shower and the death of one very strong, very brave razor, my legs were once again hairless, and my body was ready to begin the testing. What I wasn’t ready for was how much I was going to sparkle! Radiance Body Lotion contains mica (a light reflecting mineral), and baby, does it reflect.

Don’t doubt my commitment to Sparkle Motion!

This lotion is serious business, and by serious I mean that even after washing my hands, I couldn’t get the shimmer to go away. The smell lasted throughout the night, and while I wasn’t complaining, I was just a little bit worried that I was going to get the shimmer on my sheets.

When I woke up, the mica had sunk into my skin enough that it wasn’t radiating off me. and my skin felt hydrated and silky soft.

Just after application…

Radiance Body Lotion will definitely be rotating into my circle of favorites (as you can see, I have quite a few), but I’m thinking that I might save it for when I want some extra pampering. While it’s not higher end, it leaves me feeling almost golden, glowing.

Do you have a favorite lotion? Does this one remind anyone else of the body shimmer sprays of yore?

girrrrl, I feel you on the wintertime slacking! I too give myself a license to let hair-related grooming slide a bit during months when my legs don’t see the sun! (ain’t nobody got time for that!)

I’m a firm believer in the “no one to impress but myself” school of thought, and when it comes to fuzz v. razor burn, fuzz wins every time!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly! It’s finally getting warmer here in NYC and I’m almost not happy about it for this reason, haha. I just want to live in pants and not let the patriarchy win when it comes to my grooming habits.

Hmmmm, as much as I like Burt’s Bees, this is just too sparkly for me!

It seemed like a LOT of sparkle to me too, but it really sinks in! As I mentioned, I was worried about transfer to my sheets when I went to bed, but it had sunk in by the time I got in bed. It left my skin nice and glowy.

The sparkle is a very interesting touch! A subtle glowiness like that would be great for spring, possibly summer even more so.

That is a LOT of shimmer. 🙂 I hear you on the winter dry skin but this looks like it would be nice in the summer, for a little extra glow, too. A few years ago, I was given a set of Victoria’s Secret shimmer products. It was like a glitter bomb went off! It took a while to wash the glitter off my arm and the whole set was immediately given to my co-worker’s teenage daughters, who loved it and were much more suited to wear it. This lotion reminds me of a toned down version. More shimmer than disco ball. 🙂

Victoria Secret shimmer products got me feelin some kind of nostalgic way! Mostly about going out as soon as I turned 21 and wanting to be ~extra glam~ so at my roommate’s insistence I would also dust some shimmer powder on my shoulders! This lotion is really nice though, the mica sinks into your skin soon after application, so the glitter bomb feeling doesn’t stick around for long!

I love trying out different body lotions. I like that this one seems to have a subtle glow and is not over the top shimmery. Thanks for the review!

I remember having little kid versions, and then my roommate having the victoria secret shimmer powder that we would dust everywhere when we would go out. It was something!

I used to use this one before evening events for my legs. Most leg makeup is too dark for me and this helps! Plus it doesn’t leave stripes on white couches.

As for body lotions my favorite is Sibu!

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
