Antonym Cosmetics Certified Organic Eyeshadow Quattro in Noisette

Living life on the edge…purr usual

For some people, living on the edge means base jumping from a skyscraper, surfing 50-foot waves, or getting hitched in Vegas to the lifeguard they just met at the hotel pool five minutes ago (granted, he was hot).

My idea of life in the fast lane is trying to use a matte eyeshadow that I’ve never used before in a 10-minute makeup look…

What can I say? I GO HARD.

Sometimes this gamble doesn’t pay off, and I end up with a choppy, patchy mess. Sometimes, however, it does, like it did with Organic Eyeshadow Quattro in Noisette ($39) by Antonym Cosmetics.

If you have lined lids and/or otherwise refuse to get drawn into eye makeup drama, I think you’re gonna love this. It’s from Antonym Cosmetics, a cruelty-free, organic line from Miami that I just started wearing and loving.

(Side note: Why aren’t more makeup peeps talking bout this line? It’s still flying under the radar for now, but they recently launched on the Sephora website (that’s how I found them). I’m convinced they’re going to blow up soon because every one of their products I’ve tried so far has been profesh-caliber — like Hourglass meets NARS.)

Noisette

First time I tried Noisette was when I took Connor to Baby Story Time a few weeks ago. I felt like a challenge, so I gave myself 10 minutes to put my full face on (I’m hot in the pursuit of acquiring those speedy Sir John makeup skills). I decided to wear the matte brown, since matte powders are notoriously difficult to blend.

Makeup masochist much?!

I nearly dropped my brush when the delicate grains and dense pigment swept across my lids, and things got even better as I windshield wiper-ed my way to the smoothest of gradients. No skipping, no drama. Just controlled shadow placement, with every last grain landing precisely where I wanted it to go.

Simply put, one could be rollerblading backwards and still blend the sh*t out of this shadow.

And it’s not just the matte! It’s that way with all the them, including the two satins (a copper and a bronze) and the shimmer (the pale gold).

But THE BEST PART is how the dainty powder sits on your lids. I can’t see it. It’s just pure color. The way it caresses the skin makes it seem more like a cream than a powder, and if you have any lines — fine or not-so-fine — this quad will stay out of them. It’s like the best of the best NARS eyeshadow duos (Kalahari, Cordura…).

I can happily recommend this to anyone, from beginners to pros and everyone in between, who’s looking for lovely, effortless eye makeup.

If the warm colors in Noisette aren’t your thing, there are also two other $39 combos. Croisette has a dark gray, bone, golden brown and a peachy pink, and To the Moon and Back has a gray, charcoal, taupe and white. You can find them all at Sephora.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Very pretty and I’m a sucker for that package. 🙂 I didn’t get the name until I saw your arm swatch. Nothing really looked like hazelnut in the pan. HAHA!

Ooh, pretty! I’ll have to check out this line…

Speaking of powder that doesn’t look like powder: I’m looking for an on-the-go face powder/finishing powder – something I can keep in my purse that cuts down on shine, but doesn’t have a “powdery” finish or too much color. Any suggestions? (Maybe MAC Blot? Haven’t checked that out yet, and I know you’ve raved about it in the past.)

      Hi Shannon!

I can help ya with that. 🙂 I love MAC Blot to bits, always will, but sometimes it can look a little powdery if you’re ever accidentally heavy handed with your makeup. It’s killer for controlling oil though if that’s your main objective. Another good option would be NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder. I use this exclusively for setting under eye concealer because it’s virtually undetectable on skin. It’s $37 but it lasts a really long time. You’ll have to keep a separate brush in your bag because there isn’t a room for an applicator, but I find the finish is SO GOOD that it’s worth hauling around a travel-size brush.

brilllliant. Thank you! (Any recommendations on travel size brushes? Something that wouldn’t get destroyed kicking around in my purse?)

They used to carry this line at Antro I think! I never tried it but it looks nice. The colors look so cool in the photos but pull pretty warm on your arm. I’d probably need to go for something with a plummy brown undertone or a moth brown one cause warm tones on my eyes often don’t work well.

Their packaging is just so cool! And yeah we need more easy-going, fool proof products at Sephora. Glitter everything is good for Saturday night but we have a life the rest of the week!

Wow – that looks plum, pink, and white in the product photos, but it sure looks brown-toned in the swatches. I’d be interested in a plum or violet palette.

These shades are stunning. When I try out a new brand I always opt for this type of palette because I know I’ll love the shades on me. With this one the quality looks killer!!!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
