Are you satisfied with your name?
Isn’t it funny that the one thing that represents us the most is not for us to decide? Parents have a such a huge responsibility, I think!
Personally, I’m quite satisfied with Carolina. I especially like the fact that it’s pretty uncommon (at least among people of my generation, in the Bologna area).
Did you know that I’m the only Carolina Braina in the world? Well, obviously you didn’t… But yeah, Braina is a last name only my family have, and I’m the only one named Carolina.
It would be so weird if there were someone else with the same name as I… How do the people out there with very common names feel about that?
But anyways, what I meant to say before going off on a major tangent here was that, apparently, WYCON Cosmetics wasn’t satisfied with their previous name, “WJCON”, and last year decided to substitute J with Y. That’s why you’ll see two different spellings in the pictures.
You may remember from my Insider’s Guide to Makeup Shopping in Italy that WYCON is a KIKO-style brand that, just like KIKO, is only sold in the brand’s own standalone stores. It’s a younger company than their more famous competitor, and definitely not as omnipresent, but I think the quality of their products (at least those I’ve tried) is comparable.
Let’s have a look at my favorite picks!
WYCON Long-Lasting Liquid Lipsticks in 03 Rosa Antico & 20 Fragola
If you’re a fan of liquid lipsticks, WYCON’s formula is one you shouldn’t miss. It lasts well on the lips without crumbling off and isn’t particularly drying. Among 34 shades, you’ll be sure to find at least one that floats your boat. Personally, I’m in love with shade 20, while I’m not so sure about 03 (it looked different in the store’s lighting), but the formula is equally amazing.
WYCON Matt Sublime Lipsticks in 618 & 629
As I said before, I have a soft spot for comfortable-to-wear matte lipsticks in bold shades, and my WYCON Matt Sublimes fit that description perfectly. 618 (which, sadly, seems to have been discontinued) is a fun summer shade, while 629 is just the most beautiful warm red.
WYCON Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 16 Strong Coffee
Among all of the eyeliners I’ve tried, the WYCON Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 16 Strong Coffee might very well be the one that lasts the longest on the waterline. I highly, highly recommend it! Besides its bomb lasting power, I also really like its dark brown hue, as it works really well to define the eyes, without being as harsh as your typical black.
WYCON Soft Mousse Eyeshadows in 11 and 16
For simple daytime looks, I love using cream eyeshadows, and these two from WYCON are huge favorites of mine. They apply easily and evenly to the lids, and their wear-time is impressive.
Shade 11 is a pretty rose gold that gives lids the nicest luminosity, while shade 16 is a reddish bronze that would look amazing on green eyes, but I really like it on my brown eyes as well.
If on your next trip to Italy you want to have a look at WYCON products, make sure you check out their store locator, first!

I love a good cream shadow and these two look very pretty! I don’t think I had ever heard of Wycon. I think changing their name was a good move by the way, I wouldn’t even know how to say “WJCON” without just spelling it!
Carolina Braina says
Yeah, it was definitely unpronounceable!
WYCON’s cream eyeshadows are really great. Their wear-time is especially impressive!

Rosa Antico and 618 are really pretty shades! Too bad that last one got discontinued.
As for names, I neither like nor dislike my name (Melissa).
Carolina Braina says
Yeah, I really wonder why 618 got discontinued!

As someone with a pretty common name (both first name and family name) I can tell you that the odds to actually meet someone bearing the same name are pretty low. Only Google will show you how many of you there really are.
Oh, and I happen to love Carolina. When my youngest sister was born, we all got to pick a name for consideration as well, and mine was Caroline, which is her second name. my other sisters picked Pipilotta and Moonrise, which didnt quite make the cut.
Carolina Braina says
Did your sister want to name your younger sister Pippilotta because of Pippi Longstockings?

Love the look of those liquid lipsticks!

It’s a really great formula!

OMGosh, those cream shadows look beautiful. I wonder how they compare to the super expensive Tom Ford cream shadows available here in the U.S.?
You have such a beautiful smile and I really like you in bright lipstick. Just my bias.
If you Google my first and last name there are multiples of me out there. Even if you Google my maiden name (which isn’t that common here in the U.S.) there are multiples of me.
Carolina Braina says
Thank you, Tatiana, bright lipsticks are definitely my favorites! 🙂
Unfortunately, I’ve never tried any TF cream shadows, I can just tell you that these from WYCON have a fab formula.

Your posts always make me wanna visit Italy. I’m blown away by the swatches & those cream shadows look dreamy 🙂
Carolina Braina says
They are dreamy! 😉

Everything here looks like a winner!

High quality at a very affordable price… Gotta love that!

Those lipsticks look great! I’ve never heard of this brand.
My name isn’t terribly common, but it’s not unique to me, either. I like my first name. My mother wanted “Tara” (Pretty, but I don’t think it suits me), but my dad wanted “Windy” (Cute, but again, doesn’t suit me). I’m glad they argued and had to compromise on “Rachel.” It’s classic, but not too common when I was growing up. The only thing I don’t like about it gets misspelled a lot. Most common are “Rachael,” “Racheal,” and “Rachelle,” but I’ve seen some really strange ones (“Rayechol” was a stand-out). Everyone always wanted to call me “Rachelle” in school, because “Rachael” was the more common spelling in my generation.
Carolina Braina says
I had no idea Rachel got misspelled a lot. I really like the sound of it!

love the looks you created with these products! I am a fan of cream shadows, as well. They seem to last longer on me and are forgiving to my aging skin around the eye area. My favorite brand for cream shadows is Benefit.
Carolina Braina says
I have a couple of Benefit cream shadows and really like them, but I think these ones are way more long-lasting.
Carly says
Oh my! Those eyeshadows look gorgeous! I wonder how they’ll hold up on oily hooded lids though. I must investigate!
Carolina Braina says
Despite having oily skin, I don’t have oily lids, so I’m afraid I can’t help you. I find that these do last longer on me than other cream shadows I have, though – like those from Maybelline, Chanel or Benefit.
