Hi everyone!
Urban Decay has released a limited edition shade of their Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($20) as a part of The Ultraviolet Edge — their global initiative to empower women.
Last year, Urban Decay donated $528,000 to global organizations that made possible literacy programs, microloans, and business training for women in need, and 100% of the purchase price of the new eyeshadow primer will be donated to fund more of these awesome programs.
The new primer potion, Enigma, is a pinky beige matte that blends out like a dream. If you’re familiar with the Original and Eden primer potions, Enigma has a very similar texture; it feels slick until patted down into the skin. The pink tone helps to conceal my eyelid pigmentation, and I especially love using it as a base for my purple eyeshadows.
I was inspired by the famous Urban Decay aesthetic to create a smokey pink/purple look using the Natasha Denona Palette 28 in Purple Blue.
** SPOILER ALERT ** The matte colors didn’t cling to my naked eye as well as they did with the primer underneath and, you guessed it, the look lasted all day! As someone whose eyelids aren’t too oily or too dry, my eyeshadow looked vibrant for 8+ hours.
I like this formula a tiny bit more more than the Original primer potion as well. The combination of concealing my eyelids and providing a clingier surface makes the priming step that much more enjoyable. 🙂
This is a generous effort for Urban Decay and is a cause that I am very passionate about. I can only hope The Ultraviolet Edge expands to include more products in their humanitarian efforts! One can only collect so many eyeshadow primers, right?
Enigma is limited edition and available now at Urban Decay ($20).
Until next time,
Anna

Enigma is my favorite of the Potion Primers. I’m fair enough I can even get away with it as an eye color if I’m lazy or in a hurry.

I find that this stuff dries down too quickly making it patchy on my lids, which have some laxity. I also have oily hooded lids so the extra thickness of this primer due to the pigment causes it to crease on me. 🙁 I wish I liked it because I’m all for the charity, but I can’t bring myself to repurchase.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts anyways Carly 🙂 People seem to love or hate the original primer potion as well.

I’ve been using the original version for years and still love it. It prevents my oily lids from creasing and makes my eye shadows more vibrant without changing the color. I may try out the Sin and Enigma version since Sephora currently has their sale going on.

I’ve been using the original version for years as well! I really like their matte eyeshadow primers but Sin is pretty intense–I use that alone a lot!
Joyce says
I have Sin in eyeshadow form and LOVE it as a lid shade. It brightens my eye look and makes me look more awake. Have you tried it before? How does it compare to the one in primer form? I’ve been also thinking about using the Sin primer to make my matte eyeshadows look shimmery.

I picked this up at the end of last summer so I’m curious as to why it’s being touted as new. This is my favorite out of that UD primer potions and I recently had to pick up a new one. I got it for half off at one of the cosmetic company outlets. Definitely worth a look if you have one near by.

Interesting, I guess it was repackaged and brought back for a limited time

Your shadow looks stunning! I also love that this product is attached to such a worthy cause.

Thank you! Also yes, UD is so rad for being able to do this.

I haven’t tried this one yet but I always liked the original version! Loooove your make-up again.

I don’t like the original and I haven’t tried any of the others. I’ll have to swatch it and see. They always seem to work good on my hand, but rarely work well on my lids.
