Raise your hand if you’re a proud owner of the Urban Decay Electric palette or a similar bright eyeshadow palette!
OK, now, raise your hand if you don’t use it as much as you wish you did!
HA, I see quite a lot of you have raised your hands both times, just like I have…
But frankly, the UD Electric is too beautiful a palette to just gather dust in my makeup drawer, and I’ve decided I want to change that!
So I’m thinking this is the perfect time to finally try the turquoise and green color combination I fell in love with last fall, when I saw the gorgeous look Pat McGrath had created for Diane Von Furstenberg at NYFW Spring 2016.
And if you, too, want to show your brights some much-deserved love, why don’t you get ready with me today? 😉
After applying primer all over the lids, pack a vibrant green shadow on the mobile lids with a firm brush, and blend it out just above the crease using a tiny bit of the same shadow on a fluffier brush, creating an elongated shape in the outer corners. Then prime your lower lash lines, apply the same green, and blend out the edges really well – we don’t want any harsh lines.
Now, wet a shader brush and use it to line the upper lashes with a turquoise shadow. Then blend the edge between green and turquoise so that the two colors merge together.
To add dimension and definition, trace a thin line with a cobalt blue as close to the upper lashes as you can, and smudge, smudge, smudge! 😉 Once you’ve done that, repeat the process on the lower lash lines using a teal eyeshadow.
Line your waterlines, if you like, put on mascara, fill in your brows, and the eyes are done!
Since I like these bright shades better when paired with a sunkissed complexion, I’ve warmed up my skin with a bronzing gel before going in with my foundation and bronzer. Feel free to skip that, if you don’t find it necessary!

I’m always delighted to see the Electric Palette featured! This is a beautiful look. Thank you for showing this palette can be “wearable.” I keep telling people it’s more versatile than it’s given credit for, but everyone seems to think it’s only for alternative looks or clowns. (For the record, I’m all about alternative looks.)
Carolina Braina says
I LOVE the Electric Palette! I think it’s totally wearable and use it pretty often in the warmer months.

I have been experimenting a lot with color throughout the last weeks. These greens look lovely against your brown eyes and your bronzed complexion.

Can’t wait to see the looks you came up with!
Karen says
Oh my gosh… I LOVE this look. I don’t have many bright colors since I never know how to wear them but this is gorgeous!
Carolina Braina says
Awww, thank you so much, Karen. I’m glad you like it! 🙂
Becky says
Wow, Carolina! These greens look beautiful on you! So great with your complexion! I tend to dig out the ol’ Electric Palette for playing with but not actually wearing – I’ll be brave and give this a go!
Carolina Braina says
Thank you, Becky! You should totally give it a go! 😉

*Raising my hand* Totes here for this look! And for that palette. Which I hardly ever use. Need to remedy that, stat. Great post 🙂
Carolina Braina says
Yeah, that palette is totally deserving of a little lovin’! 😉
Erin says
What a festive look! I have a real hard time wearing greens around my eyes.
Carolina Braina says
I love green, but I usually wear darker shades, like emerald or forest. The color in this palette really surprised me, though!

I fell in love with the makeup at that show the moment I saw it! It really captures an amazing vibe – dramatic yet fresh and youthful! I think I’ll try something similar this summer.
Carolina Braina says
Me too, one of the best looks I’ve ever seen at a fashion show!
Agata says
What a beautiful and sunny look! The Electric palette is probably the only UD palette I have never been attracted to!
Btw, you look extremely photogenic in these pictures!
Carolina Braina says
Thank you, Agata!
I fell in love with the Electric Palette the moment I saw it, but when I got it I wasn’t sure how I’d use it… Turns out it’s more wearable than one would think! I just don’t use all the colors at a time… Rainbow makeup is not my thing!
Pamela says
I’m at a loss for words but I’ll try… This is one of the most stunning, radiant looks I’ve seen in a long time. Color me inspired!!!!!!!
Carolina Braina says
Aww, thank you so much, Pamela!!! It’s so nice to hear I have inspired you! 🙂
