I always wonder what Tabs is dreaming about when I see his little paw twitching in his sleep.
Is he thinking about the time he cornered a lizard outside on the hill, when he had his paw on it, and the lizard straight up and bit him, and he freaked out? Or is he thinking about the time when he was on his harness and caught a baby bird by the front door?
He only has a 10-foot leash, but he bolted instantaneously off the walkway into the yard. I didn’t have time to react. All of a sudden, I look down and my wonderful little tabby has a tiny bird in his mouth! It was a nightmare…
Well, it was a nightmare for me and the bird, but it might’ve been the greatest dream in the world to Tabs.
Or, is he thinking about the first time I gave him bacon? Maybe he’s just laying there thinking, “Uoh…bacon,” like Homer Simpson does.
Is he dreaming about his kittenhood and his kitty siblings? Does he ever dream about his kitty mom? Does he think about her? Sometimes that thought makes me sad…
I wonder… Do cats dream in images kind of like we do? Does he ever dream about us? Does he dream about me? Does he hear my voice? If he does, what do I sound like in the dreams? Do I sound like the grownups in Peanuts cartoons? “Wah-wah wah-wah-wahhh.”
Is he just feeling emotions like comfort, happiness and fear, or does he actually see memories of things that have happened to him in his life?
Does he make up stories in his mind? Are his dreams fantasies? Like, does he dream of walking into the dining room one day to find a stack of bacon three feet tall? Does he dream of a litter box the size of a playground or other things like that?
I wonder…

My mom’s dog Tinkerbell (a large Rottweiler) caught a baby bird in the spring, but she was licking it and trying to take care of it after it fell out of its nest. She brought my parents a live baby turtle once too. Too many mom instincts :p
I wish we could know what our kitties are thinking of in dreams and if they’re happy! Jiji and I took a really great nap yesterday afternoon in the sun while my husband was at an anime convention or something. It was so nice waking up in a sunbeam with him curled up.

I wonder about that sometimes too. And I wonder what baby boy dreams of when he is twitching in his sleep.

Karen, I often times wonder the same thing. ?

I often wonder about that too! What do cats dream about? Do they see realistic scenes like us? Or is it a completely different experience? I wish we could know!

I’m on the side that kitties dream as we do, and I have a story to back this up. One afternoon, my kitty, Charm, was asleep on the loft bed. His sister slept on a chair. I don’t remember what I was doing but It was along the lines of farting around on the internet. All of a sudden, I hear Charm growl, and he follows that with a hiss. His sister is still dozing on the chair, so I go to check on him. Charm’s eyes are shut tight, but his are paws twitching. He didn’t make another sound for the rest of his nap, but I’m convinced he was having a nightmare of the kitty variety.

I’d LOVE to know what’s going on inside our pets’ minds! And see how they dream.

I don’t know if it’s the same with cats but I read that dogs dream with their owners because of the bond they have.

I wonder what my cats dream about too. Except Furball, I’m pretty sure she only dreams about wet cat food.

I wonder those things too. I got Tulip when she was 2 and I was always sad that I didn’t know her when she was a kitten and always wondered how she was as a kitten.
I got Elvis as a kitten and I met his mom, his siblings, his aunt, and his cousins. I have photos of them. When I took him home I wondered if he would miss them or if he thinks about them. Lately when he sleeps he rolls around and moves a few inches here and a few inches there. In fact he rolled off the couch early this morning.
Jazmine is 20 years old and I wonder what she thinks about when she gazes outside the window…the mice she use to catch or the bird that she once caught and buried somewhere…

Jazmine is 20? HOLY WOW! I hope Tabs lives to be that old!
