Mine was this cherished jar of Chanel Sublimage Eye Cream that I received as a gift for my birthday last year.
Observe how the innards have been scraped clean, and imagine the desperate woman behind all of that scraping, ha!
I sure loved the stuff, but I can’t haven’t yet been able to justify spending $200 for a replacement (yup, it’s expensive).
I probably should transition to something cheaper, but a lot depends on how I feel about…everything after my big birthday (35) next month. I might need to treat myself with an eye-cream splurge.
How about you? What was the last skincare product you finished? Was it a cleanser, moisturizer, toner or something else, and what made it so great that you fished out every last drop?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I last used up a bottle of Paula’s Choice cleanser and liquid BHA. LOVE that stuff.
Hope you get some new cream for your birthday! My birthday’s next month, too. What day is yours?

I used up my DDF 10% Glycolic toner. I’ve probably through at least 3 of these now–can’t be without it! If I’m in a hurry in the morning, I don’t even have to wash my face, just swipe some of this on a cotton ball and I’m done.

Thats what I use too and I love it! I buy the double pack at Costco and it lasts me a long time. Best stuff Ive ever tried!

Hi Diana S (mom)! Funny, mother and daughter love Karen’s blog! Anyway, this is what I use too, because it makes my face so soft!

The last skincare item I finished was my Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer. Moving on to Origins A Perfect World with SPF!
You should totally try the Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair cream. Its so decadent and effective for any and every eye care need. and $65<$200 🙂

Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion I am already on my 2nd bottle that’s half way gone ;-(

The last thing I used up was my miracle worker moisturizer by philosophy. That stuff is amazing. Yes. I bought a new jar because I still swear by it!
If you love sublimage, I highly recommend eye hope by philosophy. In terms of performance, eye hope is supposed to rival sublimage but costs only $48! Hope this helps!

happy birthday to us geminis!
the last jar of something i finished was LUSH’s facial moisturizer (paradise regained) it literally made my skin glow! now that it’s summertime, i’ve switched over to vanishing cream, which is lighter, but i’m looking forward to fall because i can use paradise regained again!

Oh man, that stuff looks nice. At my age, I *need* something like this! I feel ya, I turn 38 a few days after you turn 35 and I am in total shock that I am this age.
I cannot remember the last thing I actually finished, probably a Neutrogena facial SPF. Usually I have Gemini-itis and get bored with a product before I’m done and switch to something else!

i just finished a tube of alba botanica sea enzyme facial scrub a couple of days ago. i’ve gone through a few tubes and really like the product, but i think i’m going to try kiehl’s epidermal re-texturizing micro-dermabrasion next. 🙂

I was thinking about getting some Chanel sublimage, but dang homey, that price sort of hurts! I’d have scraped that container out too. The last thing I cleaned out was my neutrogena anti oxidant day moisture, a far cry from sublimage, I know.

I have finished — 1 tube of the Biore eye cream, 1 bottle of the Biore night cream (w/ help from the hubs, I force-moisturize his face at night), 2 bottles of the Biore dual fusion moisturizer and 1 tube of the Biore exfoliator (this took a while bec the hubs and I only used it 2x a week).
Im working on almost halfway done tubes/bottles of the same said stuff above. 🙂

I most recently finished my Philosophy Purity cleanser… it’s great for everyday, but I don’t know if I’ll repurchase it. I have an itch to try more products ;). I also used up my Smashbox photo finish primer light, which is great for oily skin. I’ve been using it for a year and will probably repurchase even if it’s only the travel size :).
mkdallas says
I hit pan/scraped sides/stuck-a-finger-in-and-wiped-clean my bottle of M.D. Forte Eye Cream. This is a great, reasonably priced line put out by Allergan (makers of Botox) available through doctors and some websites. All their products contain AHAs in varying amounts (all the way up to 30%) and are really effective. I’ve probably gone through about 5-6 bottles in the last 2-3 years. It comes with a pump, which I very much like.
Mercee says
Korres Thyme Honey Cream Moisturising Cream. I love it!! Its sinks in quickly and makes my skin feel so lovely. Will be trying the wild rose moisturiser next.

Peter Thomas Roth’s Uber-Dry Sunblock. I refuse to go without sunblock but I hate wearing too many layers of products, and that stuff is as good as any primer I’ve tried. PTR makes nice products — I’m a big fan of their Unwrinkle Peel Pads as well. Those and Dermadoctor’s Poetry in Lotion have produced impressive texture improvement for me.

I very rarely finish any of my beauty products because I’m that bad of a junkie. Although a few products come to mind that I *think* I have finished before…Clinique’s Turnaround Concentrate Serum, Olay Gentle Foaming Face Wash Sensitive Skin, Fresh Soy Cleanser…that’s all I can think of.
$200 for eye cream?!?! Did you honestly see a difference from using it for a year?

I have finished the Olay Sensitive skin cleanser and am almost finished with the Boots Sensitive Skin facial wipes.
Wowza! I had no idea Chanel eye cream was $200. My hubby is pretty tolerant of my makeup/skincare purchases, but I think purchasing that eye cream would land me in divorce court! LOL!
Kat says
Clinique’s toner. It’s almost gone again and I need more!
That is one crazy pricey eye cream! Wow! I hope it works REALLY well lol

I just finished a bottle of Olay Definity Illuminating Eye Treatment, I don’t have permanent dark circles under my eyes. I’m a new mommy and this is great for those sleepless nights, I use it every night right after I get out of the shower. This stuff works so good that I no longer have to use a concealer anymore 😉

Great for dry and sensitive skin. And thank you for your blog!

Mine was today too and an eye cream! It was a cheapy Avon one but it did the trick. I’m excited because now I have an empty jar to store stuff in and I get to start using my Clinique All About Eyes.
Melessa says
i was really excited to try that too. i didnt remember noticing anything really. perhaps i wasnt diligent enough though, too long ago to remember.
and since im in the comments i did scrap that bottle clean.

Ha! Yet another bottle of Philosophy PMS and the Microdelivery exfoliating wash! I’ll keep using ’em up and I’ll keep buying ’em! I also just hit the last of my Villainess “Smack!” body scrub, one of my latest obsessions! They come in custom “scoops”, my last one had vanilla, leather, smoke and spice and my newest one has 2 vanillas, lemon meringue and sugared rose! Yum!
NeenaJ says
I’ve finished a tube of MD Skincare’s Correct & Perfect Spot Treatment (sulfur acne treatment cream) and am on my second. It literally works overnight on a blemish. And it doesn’t irritate my dry skin the way salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide do.
Also, I’m nearly done with my jar of Aqua Glycolic night cream. The packaging isn’t glamorous, but that stuff works! You can get it behind the pharmacy counter of most drug stores (read: Target), but it doesn’t require a prescription.
Amber Janel says
The last thing I wiped clean was my first ever container of Olay Difinity Night Restorative Sleep Cream. I was soo impressed that I went to purchase another but mistakenly got the Olay Definity Intense Hydrating Cream instead (damned almost identical packaging). I think I like the hydrating cream even better though :o)

I always finish my foundation, eye creme & face cream, never anything else. Just yesterday finished last bit of All about eyes eye creme by Clinique…
Alison says
It would be Liz Earle Cleanse and polish cleanser, and I am almost at the end of another bottle of it! I am thinking of changing though and trying out Chanels cleansers (I remembered you reviewed them so went back to read and they sound lovely.)
I had a tester of Chanel Beaute Initial fluid and that is a lovely moisturiser, once I have saved up I will be investing in that (the Sublimage is just too much of a splurge for me right now!)
April says
The last makeup/skincare products I finished were a bottle of Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash, a bottle of Murad toner, a tube of Murad Clarifying Mask, and a bottle of MAC Fix+.
I remember that with the tube of Clarifying Mask, I had to cut the tube in half and scrape whatever else was left and store the halves in a Ziploc bag until I was completely done with it.

Happy Birthday!
I’m turning 35 too in a couple of weeks, and *wince* I’m not looking forward to it so much. I hope you break through to the other side all in one piece and I’m sure you’ll look beautiful doing it! 🙂
My last skin product that I finished was Korres moisturing lotiona in Honey and Thyme. It’s one of the few products I actually finised because it actually has an expiration date on it.
Catherine says
Hmmm. I think the last skincare item I finished was either my toner or my makeup remover… I use bar soap/cleansing grains (which I continuously refill) and I make my own small batches of moisturizer (which I also continuously refill before I get to the bottom) so … for most of my basic skincare I don’t ever use up anything LOL. I’m ALMOST to the bottom of my Avalon Organics vitamin C serum though.

OM! My hubby would kill me if I spent $200 on eye cream! I actually use Burt’s Bees Radiance Eye Cream! Pearlyness!!! I think I like the smell (I lost the jar in my messy makeup drawers!)… I got it as a gift from a friend and it was in one of those gift sets from xmas.

I’m quite proud of myself! I finished a jar of Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, a bottle of Neutrogena Deep Clean Relaxing Nightly Cleanser, and a bottle of Dove Cool Moisture Foaming Facial Cleanser. Oh, and a few sample kits! It took me about a year to finish all three and now I can finally… finish all my other unexciting skincare products :'(

I turn 38 in a few days and my family have been bugging me for present ideas. They don’t like give generic gift cards but you’ve just given me the brilliant idea of telling them I want some new skin care and that it would make me super happy to get to go shop for it.
Steph B says
Oh – my last empty was Olay Definity Tinted Sunscreen.
Marian says
I’ve been using the same skin care products for years and have used up many jars and tubes of Alpha Hydrox Souffle and Retin-A. The only thing I may use different products for is cleansing. I usually use Cetaphil or Alpha Hydrox foaming cleansers but my splurge is Lancome Galatee Confort.
I can’t justify spending $40 for cleanser…..but once in awhile I splurge on it. It just smells so good!
Indi says

Perfect timing – I just finished my Jan Marini Skin Research AntiOxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 30 I can’t live without it! It is is the best I’ve ever tried, and living in Arizona I’ve tried them all. I hope Tabs gets you your special eye cream for your Birthday – he’s got connections so I’m sure he’ll find a way. ; – )
Sharon says
About the only skincare product I’ve used up is my Olay Complete daily moisturizer. And Olay face cleanser — both of those have been replaced multiple times. Though I’m strongly considering trying out some other moisturizers, ones more targeted to my (now drier) skin but which absorb easily (can’t stand a greasy-feeling face). There’s a little sample jar of Biotherm waiting for me to try. 🙂
Vonvon says
Like you, I finished eye cream and eye serum.
Finished Lancome Renergie Morpholift Eye Serum and Eye Cream in April (after 5 and half months of usage). Then went back to using my Estee Lauder ANR Eye Recovery Complex (a travel-sized jar) for the past month. Just hit bottom too.
Now back to using Lancome Renergie Morpholift Eye Cream alone.
I think overall, I hit bottom on my eye creams most frequently (perhaps I have panda eyes problem, and worried about lack of sleep giving me fine lines faster than I could finish typing this!) 😉

Last thing I finished was a tub o’ Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer. It was on Earth Day so I took my empty jar to the Origins counter and got a free Checks and Balances face wash! I like it so much, that I’m guessing this face wash will be the next thing I use up!
Nell says
I finished my Chanel Huile Confort cleansing oil yesterday.
I totally get you about the eye cream, I turned 35 yesterday (aaaaaargh) and what did i do? Bought an expensive eye cream (Shiseido Bio-Performance, highly recommended, try it! cheaper than Chanel but very effective and still luxurious). How did we get this old that quickly while feeling still like 25?

I’m working as a cosmetic manager, here in Canada, for a big drugstore called Shoppers Drug Mart. I receive A LOT of free products, and I also have a 30% discount if I want to buy a product. So I almost never finish a product (makeup or skincare), and for sure as a beauty blogger, it’s your case too. But there is one product I have finished, and more than once. It’s Skin Prep from Cover FX. It’s an amazing product that can be worn as an anti-aging serum, a makeup base or a day or night, non oily moisturiser. It leaves the skin satin smooth, and so comfortable. It’s about 42$CA, so It’s kind of expansive, but It worths it.
