What Was the Last Skincare Product You Finished?

May 19th, 2010 by Karen 68 Comments

chanel sublimage eye

Mine was this cherished jar of Chanel Sublimage Eye Cream that I received as a gift for my birthday last year.

Observe how the innards have been scraped clean, and imagine the desperate woman behind all of that scraping, ha!

I sure loved the stuff, but I can’t haven’t yet been able to justify spending $200 for a replacement (yup, it’s expensive).

chanel sublimage eye

I probably should transition to something cheaper, but a lot depends on how I feel about…everything after my big birthday (35) next month. I might need to treat myself with an eye-cream splurge.

How about you? What was the last skincare product you finished? Was it a cleanser, moisturizer, toner or something else, and what made it so great that you fished out every last drop?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I last used up a bottle of Paula’s Choice cleanser and liquid BHA. LOVE that stuff.

Hope you get some new cream for your birthday! My birthday’s next month, too. What day is yours?

I used up my DDF 10% Glycolic toner. I’ve probably through at least 3 of these now–can’t be without it! If I’m in a hurry in the morning, I don’t even have to wash my face, just swipe some of this on a cotton ball and I’m done.

If you love sublimage, I highly recommend eye hope by philosophy. In terms of performance, eye hope is supposed to rival sublimage but costs only $48! Hope this helps!

I cannot remember the last thing I actually finished, probably a Neutrogena facial SPF. Usually I have Gemini-itis and get bored with a product before I’m done and switch to something else!

I hit pan/scraped sides/stuck-a-finger-in-and-wiped-clean my bottle of M.D. Forte Eye Cream. This is a great, reasonably priced line put out by Allergan (makers of Botox) available through doctors and some websites. All their products contain AHAs in varying amounts (all the way up to 30%) and are really effective. I’ve probably gone through about 5-6 bottles in the last 2-3 years. It comes with a pump, which I very much like.

Peter Thomas Roth’s Uber-Dry Sunblock. I refuse to go without sunblock but I hate wearing too many layers of products, and that stuff is as good as any primer I’ve tried. PTR makes nice products — I’m a big fan of their Unwrinkle Peel Pads as well. Those and Dermadoctor’s Poetry in Lotion have produced impressive texture improvement for me.

I’ve finished a tube of MD Skincare’s Correct & Perfect Spot Treatment (sulfur acne treatment cream) and am on my second. It literally works overnight on a blemish. And it doesn’t irritate my dry skin the way salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide do.

Also, I’m nearly done with my jar of Aqua Glycolic night cream. The packaging isn’t glamorous, but that stuff works! You can get it behind the pharmacy counter of most drug stores (read: Target), but it doesn’t require a prescription.

I had a tester of Chanel Beaute Initial fluid and that is a lovely moisturiser, once I have saved up I will be investing in that (the Sublimage is just too much of a splurge for me right now!)

Hmmm. I think the last skincare item I finished was either my toner or my makeup remover… I use bar soap/cleansing grains (which I continuously refill) and I make my own small batches of moisturizer (which I also continuously refill before I get to the bottom) so … for most of my basic skincare I don’t ever use up anything LOL. I’m ALMOST to the bottom of my Avalon Organics vitamin C serum though.

About the only skincare product I’ve used up is my Olay Complete daily moisturizer. And Olay face cleanser — both of those have been replaced multiple times. Though I’m strongly considering trying out some other moisturizers, ones more targeted to my (now drier) skin but which absorb easily (can’t stand a greasy-feeling face). There’s a little sample jar of Biotherm waiting for me to try. 🙂

Finished Lancome Renergie Morpholift Eye Serum and Eye Cream in April (after 5 and half months of usage). Then went back to using my Estee Lauder ANR Eye Recovery Complex (a travel-sized jar) for the past month. Just hit bottom too.

Now back to using Lancome Renergie Morpholift Eye Cream alone.

I think overall, I hit bottom on my eye creams most frequently (perhaps I have panda eyes problem, and worried about lack of sleep giving me fine lines faster than I could finish typing this!) 😉

I’m working as a cosmetic manager, here in Canada, for a big drugstore called Shoppers Drug Mart. I receive A LOT of free products, and I also have a 30% discount if I want to buy a product. So I almost never finish a product (makeup or skincare), and for sure as a beauty blogger, it’s your case too. But there is one product I have finished, and more than once. It’s Skin Prep from Cover FX. It’s an amazing product that can be worn as an anti-aging serum, a makeup base or a day or night, non oily moisturiser. It leaves the skin satin smooth, and so comfortable. It’s about 42$CA, so It’s kind of expansive, but It worths it.
