Ooh, gurl, YES! Oatmeal. And not just the kind you eat in the morning or in those Flourless Thumbprint Breakfast Cookies, which I’m totally craving right now.
Yes, Aveeno is known for their oatmeal-based lotions, and this is the latest one in their line.
The whole gist of it is this: absorption. It’s supposed to absorb within seconds and leave a powdery feeling behind.
Um…the whole “absorbs in seconds thing,” I think, is a bit of a stretch, but for me — and maybe this is just because I’m all about the lotion, and I’m not shy with it; I’m like, “put it on me!” — it takes a few minutes.
Still, that’s much better than usual for a lotion. Most of the time when I put on lotion or oil after I shower, it’ll take a good 10 minutes for it to completely sink into my skin.
I like this stuff. It’s also fragrance-free, so it doesn’t mix with any perfumes you might be wearing, and it’s pretty hydrating. Great for normal, non-alligator skin. When I use it, my skin doesn’t feel tight.
It’s also a sweet deal. $6.99 for a huge 18-ounce bottle is quite a bargain.
PRICE: $6.99 for an 18-oz. bottle
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores, Walgreens, Walmart, Target and online at target.com

I love oatmeal in the mornings. Are there any special benefits when adding it to a lotion? Or are they responsible for the rapid absorption and I just don’t get it?
Agata says
Linda, I think it adds moisturizing benefits and reduces dryness and itchiness. But don’t quote me on that!
LindaLibraLoca says
I will totally quote you on that! I will walk into the store, as the sales assistant, and when she comes up with any other answer than that I will tell her, she must be wrong because AGATA SAID OTHERWISE!
Thanks for letting me in 😉

You are too funny! You are the ingredient expert, not me 😛

I can’t wait to try this (when I finish up my current bottle of Aveeno moisturizer)!!! Aveeno products are a staple in my skincare routine, and are reall the only lotions, bodywashes, etc that I use. Soooo gentle on my sensitive skin!
Kiss & Make-up says
Oh yeah, I slather it really thick too. Its puts the lotion on its skin, after all! This sounds like a really nice body lotion.

Is it OK for your face or is this intended as a body lotion?
Karen says
Hi Jaclyn,
Hmm, I don’t know. I mean, I haven’t tried it as a face lotion because my face is so sensitive, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work… I’d probably keep it away from the eyes though!

I havent tried any Oatmeal lotion yet but the Aveeno one is tempting especially the quantity and quality at the price!! 😉

Love Aveeno products. Probably, perfect for summer since it’s a powder finish?

For me Maxatone is the best. I have combination skin, wrinkles, and sun damage/uneven skin tone. I have tried everything, ranging from cheap to expensive, including Solvaderm products. This Maxatone addresses all of my concerns. It is greatly helping with the skin tone issues (along with the bright skin mask periodically). It minimizes my pores and fine lines, it is rich and moisturizing but does not leave my face greasy! Most of all, I usually don’t like moisturizers with sunscreen, but I love this one as it does not smell funny, irritate my skin, or have any of the problems I normally associate with moisturizers containing sunscreen. Does not break my acne-prone skin out either.
