Alligator legs — I will not have them!
Allow me to regale you of a tale of woe surrounding one Novato woman and her dry skin…
But before we start, I feel like I should warn you. The full tale is much longer than a tabby’s, and we could be here until the freaks come out at night.
(The freaks come out at night…)
So, in the interest of expeditiousness, in the Cliff’s Notes version, I have epically dry skin.
How dry and epic?
Like Star Wars trilogy epic, especially on my lids, but using hella moisturizing body scrubs like Soap & Glory Flake Away ($15) helps keep my reptilian tendencies under wraps.
This gentle body scrub polishes and buffs away my flaky-flakes with peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar, while simultaneously moisturizing with shea butter and sweet almond oil.
It smells great! — like Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter body butter (incidentally, the scent also reminds me of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and the old-school discontinued Dior Miss Cherie).
As for its exfoliating powers, I’d call them moderate. It’s not as scrubby as a scrub with bigger granules (like Fresh Sugar Body Scrub), but it totally hits the spot when I’m in the mood for something gentle. I use it in the shower, and after I step out, my legs feel noticeably smoother and softer.
The big 10.1-oz. Flake Away jar is $15 now at Soap & Glory counters, and also online exclusively at skinstore.com, beauty.com and drugstore.com.

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I like it, but the scrubbing power may not be potent enough for serious, intense exfoliating)

Oh I’ll have to try this! Do you know how broke you’re making me?! Good thing I lost my wallet! 😉
I like the fact that it has a mixture of sea salt and sugar.
Thanks for another fab review!

Good thing you’ll be getting your replacement cards soon, ya? 😉

I am looking for a good scrub. I just repurchased the St Ives Apricot scrub and I like it but the “variety girl” needs options!

Ahh, that one’s an oldie but goodie! It’s been a while since I’ve used it, though.
Have you ever tried Shea Moisture’s Body Scrubs? Those are good too, and very affordable. So are the ones at Trader Joe’s.
MonicaP says
Nope, haven’t tried Shea .. will take a look see next time I’m in Target 😉

Dumb question…can i get this at Macys? NEED.

I did a quick search online but couldn’t find it. You might want to ask next time you’re there, though, because you never know!

You’re using this on your legs, not your lids, right?

Even though it may not be as intense as other exfoliators, I think it’s definitely a product for me since I find a lot of other scrubs to be too harsh on my skin. This is definitely going on my wishlist!

I like it rough in the shower (when scrubbing, that is) so this might be a bit too gentle for me. Still wouldn’t mind giving it a try though 🙂

I like that it’s not oil based so there’s less chance of wiping out in the shower. 🙂 But the tub is a killer for me. I know, I’m missing out on good stuff by insisting on squeeze and pump delivery systems. It just drives me crazy to have to dig into a jar. It’s probably just me.
LindaLibraLoca says
That sounds like something to eat more than something to use in the shower.

Lol I so know what you mean about the alligator legs. My skin is so dry I’ll get them all year round. That’s why I love body scrubs. I need to finally try this. It’s pretty cheap and I like the sound of the ingredients too

late to this post, but this is my favorite scrub EVER! I was hooked on dior miss cherie for several years in college and this stuff brings back a big whiff of memories. it doesn’t leave an oily residue, nor does it make my skin feel like i’ve been sandpapered. i’m also hyped that they lowered the price.
