Some of my clearest, fondest childhood memories are of watching travel shows on PBS with my mom, and I think those great times we spent together exploring the world via taped broadcasts from the comfort of our couch at home are why I’ve had such a fierce case of wanderlust as an adult.
Back then my mom and dad were busy making ends meet and raising my brother and I, but now that they’re both retired, and my brother and I have flown the coop, Mom and Dad have been able to embark upon more travel adventures.
Later this month, they head to the Philippines for a visit, where they both still have lots of family, and next year, they’re hoping to explore the Great Wall of China!
They’ve yet to make it to Italy, but just as soon as I win the lottery (fingers crossed!), I’m sending Mom on an all-expenses paid, luxury vacation to explore the Italian countryside.
Until then — until my lucky numbers hit! — Tocca’s new Bagno Profumato Body Wash ($18) and Crema da Corpo Body Lotion ($20) will have to do.
If your mom dreams of faraway lands and international adventure, take a look at Tocca for Mother’s Day this year. Their products are some of my favorites for gift giving all year round, not only because they always look lovely sitting on a counter, but also because of their fragrances, whiffs of which whisk (say that fives times fast, haha!) me away on day dreamy adventures.
I think my mom will like Giulietta. One of three new Tocca Body Wash and Lotion fragrances, it’s a light and crisp fruity floral with notes of pink tulip and green apple.
(Psst!. They’re also available in a grapefruit and cucumber scent called Cleopatra and an Italian blood orange scent called Stella — ya know, in case you also feel like picking up a little something for yourself.)
Both products are paraben free. The body wash gently cleanses and conditions with natural essences of olive oil, honey and calendula (also known as field marigold), while the body lotion moisturizes with the extracts of sweet almond and coconut oils, shea butter and honey.
And best of all, the scents linger languidly on skin for hours, whisking Mom away to Italy with every sniff. 🙂

Happy Tuesday! — and may I ask you a question?
Do you ever have dreams based on TV shows?
I had one last night about The Voice… I dreamt that my friends, Cindy and Naaman, and I went clubbing with the finalist from Blake’s team, Jermaine Paul, and then after we got home, Adam Levine came over for fish tacos, which I made from scratch.
I blame it on El Hub. He’s been snoring like a cartoon bear lately, and it’s throwing my sleep patterns out of whack!
If you’re lucky enough to have a partner who sleeps like a baby, give that man/woman a hug.
Bless El Hub’s heart. I love that man to pieces, but I can’t remember the last time he slept quietly through the night.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I still haven’t had a chance to sniff Tocca, but their stuff looks so beautiful. I hope your Mom loves it!
The Hubs is a flopper, but luckily I’m a good sleeper so I’m not usually bothered. That doesn’t stop me from having some cray-cray dreams sometimes, though. I’ve dreamt of TV/movie characters before but not that I’ve actually been in a show. My favorite was probably Jason Bourne. No food prep involved. 🙂
Karen says
SO jealous of your ability to sleep through the night. El Hub also turns constantly, and that wakes me up too. He only gets away with this because he’s so darn cute. 🙂
I haven’t had a Jason Bourne dream, but I wouldn’t mind one at all. Please tell me he washed your hair in your dream! Every woman I know loves that scene.
Kim says
Sadly, no hair washing, but I love that scene, too. 🙂
I definitely feel for you because if I’m woken up in the night, even for a couple of seconds, I’m exhausted (and crabby) the next day. I hope you guys find a solution to the snoring and flopping!! That might also be a factor in the hormonal jaw line acne. Being tired or stressed has brought that out in me, too.

Two words – Nose Strips. They have saved our marriage. And my husband is super sweet for wearing them. Now if I can just get some for the dog…..
Karen says
The Breathe Right Strips, right? El Hub wears those and he STILL SNORES! I’m seriously considering wearing noise cancelling headphones to bed.
Joyce says
My friend has a face mask and it does stop the snoring, but it’s soooo loud that it really defeats the purpose of wearing it. Also, it look scary, especially if you wake up in the middle of night and you turn around and there it is, in your face! haha..
Karen says
Eek! That sounds frightening!

Paraben free? WIN!
As for Adam Levine, I’ve never had a dream about him (that I remember), but I’ve been listening to Payphone NON STOP. xD
Once I dreamed there was an ostrich following me around, though.
Karen says
That song is certainly catchy!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
LOVE the bottle design–very simple and clean and chic. I’m definitely going to go take a sniff this week–this looks like it would be perfect for my mom
Karen says
Let me know what you think after you give it a sniff. 🙂

This sounds delightful! I don’t know about Mom, but I’m interested. 🙂
Oh, and I dream about celebrities all the time, Karen. You’re not the only one. Timothy Olyphant is a recurring character of mine. (I call him Tim.)

Before reading this I happened upon a current deal from Refinery29 for which you spend $45 and get a voucher for $90 on Tocco.com. I wasn’t going to purchase ( the shipping cost… which can’t be covered by the voucher is around $15 I think), but reading this it seems fated that I must order from them ( http://reserve.refinery29.com/offer/374/tocca). Thanks, Karen… I think.

Tocca Florence is my all time favorite candle. I keep them in my bedroom at all times. When I say MY bedroom , I mean it. I must confess that I snore : O
Because I do, I have been banished to my own room and I absolutely love sleeping alone!
Ashley says
Squee! Tocca Cleopatra is my signature scent- the description is grapefruit and cucumber but it has a really rich, intense base so it doesn’t read “citrusy” like Stella does (which smells like oranges). Hopefully the wash and lotion have the same richness to them; the Cleopatra candle smells nothing like the perfume to me.
Nina says
Ohhh this sounds perfect for my sister, in Stella, if you please. 😉
Gauri says
Hey Karen,
Very nice gift idea..

So, while I love Tocca perfumes (particuarly Colette and Florence), I never really understood the brand. It has an Italian name and was founded by Italians, but seems fairly French oriented…? It’s definitely a brand that is “Italian” but marketed to foreigners, much like Borghese and Pellegrino. I’ve never seen it in an Italian perfume shop.
