Mark your calendars! Here in the States, May 13 is Mother’s Day (click here to find out when it falls in your country). Want to get Mom something special this year? Looking for gift ideas? Check back over the next few days for a different Mother’s Day gorgeous gift idea (a new special something with which to spoil Mom). 🙂
For Mother’s Day a couple years ago I got my mom a Clarisonic Mia, and she loves it! Nothing says “Thanks for sharing your body with me for nine months, Mom!” like a gentle, yet industrial strength, facial cleansing.
Okay, well, you know what I mean… 🙂
And this is good timing, too, as Clarisonic recently released a new kit (priced at $169) called the Acne Clarifying Collection, and it’s pretty darn snazzy.
It comes with a dual-speed Clarisonic Mia2, a bottle of Clarisonic Acne Daily Clarifying Cleanser (which contains a solution of 2 percent salicylic acid) and an Acne Cleansing Brush Head gentle enough for blemish-prone skin.
Oh, and since the Mia2 brush in this kit is white, it’ll look great with all kinds of bathroom décor (a small but important detail).
I have the original Mia with the regular brush, and I actually prefer this newer version. Mia2 has a timer, which comes in really handy because it stops me from over-scrubbing. I also really like the plush new Acne Cleaning Brush Head, which feels much softer on my skin than the brush that came with my O.G. Mia.
I still remember Mom’s eyes lighting up when she tore off the wrapping and saw her Clarisonic. Every year she says, “Don’t get me anything,” and I’m sure she means it, but if your mom struggles with her skin (hey, don’t we all at one time or another?), keep the Clarisonic Mia2 Sonic Skin Cleansing Acne Clarifying Collection in mind.
Available now at Sephora stores and also online.

MAC Carine Roitfeld Collection: Fall 2012!
Not quite Mother’s Day related, but just a quick heads up about a new collection MAC has lined up for fall 2012. MAC teamed up with Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, fashion model and writer, to create the MAC Carine Roitfeld Collection, a 20-piece release that plants the focus firmly on eyes and brows for a look that reflects Carine’s signature smoky eyes, bold brows and nude lips.
The collection also features a Good Luck Star stencil, which can be seen in the images of Carine photographed by Mario Sorrenti. Sorrenti, a legendary photographer and filmmaker, is best known for his work in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, and this campaign marks the first he and MAC have worked together.
I lurves me my smokey eyes, and this sounds a little like one of my favorite MAC collections of all time, Fall 2007’s Smoke Signals.
Counting down the days! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thanks for the Mother’s Day gift ideas! My mother is very difficult to shop for, so it’s nice to have some suggestions.
I have the original Clarisonic and it has really improved the quality of my skin. It’s definitely worth the investment.
TGIF indeed! It’s been a long week and I’m ready for the weekend. Have a great Friday! 🙂

this is indeed a great gift. We recently picked it up for my mum on our family vacation abroad and she loves it!

I have been going back and forth about buying the MIA (for me haha!) …. I mean, my skin is pretty good, and im scared that I might overly purge and get acne (which I have never had in my life).
I dont think my MIL and my sister will like the MIA though. LOL.
Weirdly enough – the Hubs wants one. I showed it to him @ Sephora one time. He is a fan of exfoliating LOL. Maybe he will get this on his birfday. :-d

I’m severely acne-prone, and never went through any “purging” some women describe after using the Clarisonic. I do hold it responsible for clearing up my acne almost completely, though! I’ve had mine for two years and I LOVE it. Its the best value, most skin-changing product I’ve ever bought.

I love my Mia2 – it’s one of my favorite beauty things ever. 🙂
Btw, am I the only person who thinks MAC’s ad campaigns are a little scary? I think this is the 3rd time I’ve been like “yikes”. Clearly I’m old and afraid of edgy. It’s sad to admit, really. 🙂

Don’t get me wrong: I love my Clarisonic, but when I was still just using a muslin cloth for exfoliation, the results (to me) were exactly the same–only without the cool little gadget. Plus, I don’t really buy into the whole deep pore cleansing brush and acne brush that they have available now–I think all the brushes do pretty much the same thing, it all comes down to how firm you want your brush to be (which surprisingly, I found the regular brush head to be less scratchy and more comfortable than the sensitive brush head)
Alison says
Wow, really? I’ve used a muslin cloth and all sorts of things to cleanse my face, but nothing has ever made such a huge difference in my skin as the Clarisonic (cleared up my moderate-to-severe acne, reduces appearance of my enlarged pores, I no longer get weird little bumps under my chin, or whiteheads, my skin is softer, etc, etc etc) – the effects mine gives make it worth its weight in gold.
I’ll agree with you about the brushes, though. I tried the deep pore cleansing one, and the clearing benefits were exactly the same – its just that the brush felt softer.

I have to say, I’m pretty excited for the Carine Roitfeld collection (even though I haven’t been terribly enamoured with MAC recently). I mean – smokey eyes, bold brows, and a star stencil: does it GET any better than that?
Here’s to hoping for a Smoke Signals-esque aesthetic when the collection shots come out! 😉

I just got one of these yesterday with my mom!!! She actually got one too 🙂 It was such an awesome day, and so cool when we got to try it out together. It really feels amazing and my skin has never been so smooth and glowy.
Funny that you post this b/c the Clarsonic website is having a deal right now! Buy 2 and get like, $85 dollars off. It’s a huge deal – for mother’s day! How fitting!

Oh God, I want it! My mum has really good skin for someone her age, especially if you consider how she uses next to NOTHING for her skin. Looks like I’d better splurge out on this for myself instead hehe

I’ve had my eye on this for a while now! I wasn’t too sure, because some reviews said that the Clarisonic can be too much for sensitive skin, but I guess I won’t find out if it works for me until I try it 🙂 Thanks for this post!

Hah! I bought the MIA as a Xmas gift to myself…and I absolutely love it! It actually did everything it sais it would do…my skin does feel softer and cleaner and yes, methinks even the pores are smaller!!!
I do recommend it to anyone that is thinking of getting it…personally I get just bought the cheapest one, 119$ as I wasn’t convinced that the extra cash was worth it for more settings or a different color, the white one-setting-MIA works just perfect for me!
2 thumbs up:)
