Well, I finally finished my beloved tube of Caudalie Vine Body Butter last weekend, and yes, it was just like Maxwell House Coffee (good to the last drop).
Polishing it off also left a void in my heart that I knew only one thing could fill, and the name of that thing starts with the word, “Sephora.”
Okay, that doesn’t make any sense at all, but you know me. Anything to try something new! 🙂
I stopped by Sephora on Monday night to look around, and here are three things (among many others) that caught my eye…
1. Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion
As soon as I stepped foot in the store, I made a beeline for the Caudalie display. I’m still on a Caudalie kick, so I’m taking their Nourishing Body Lotion ($36 for 8.4 counces) out for a test drive.
With summer approaching, this is about the time I usually switch to lighter body lotions that don’t feel so heavy on my skin.
This one, for normal and dry skin types, contains antioxidant grape polyphenols and ginkgo biloba (of cognition-enhancing fame) to help keep skin soft and firm.
I’ve only been using two days, including today, and I already love it. It’s rich and moisturizing but doesn’t leave my skin greasy, and it absorbs more quickly than the Vine Body Butter.
If you’ve ever sniffed Caudalie’s Hand Cream before, it has the same light, fresh grassy scent.
So refreshing after a shower… It might be too early to say this, but I think I found my new summer moisturizer for my bod.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, C14-22 Alcohol, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Dimethicone, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Sodium PCA, Cetyl Alcohol, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower extract, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Phospholipids, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Tocopherol, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Benzoate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Linalool, Hydroxyisohexyl-3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde
2. Caudalie Firming Concentrate
Not gonna lie, my upcoming birthday is why I picked up this firming, toning body treatment because gravity, like the jungle, always wins in the end.
The Firming Concentrate ($35 for 2.5 ounces) is also from Caudalie, and I’m hoping its mix of essential oils will help keep my skin elastic and firm. It contains the oils of grapeseed (for moisturizing); sweet mint, peppermint and Douglas fir (for toning); and lemon for draining.
Caudalie recommends it for “the first signs of sagging,” and for tired legs. Those are two very unrelated things, aren’t they? LOL! 🙂 I’ve been applying it on my chest, arms and stomach before following up with the Nourishing Body Lotion.
Two days isn’t enough time to tell much, but I do love the light herbal scent, which is kinda pepper-minty, and how cool and tingly it feels.
Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Pseudotsuga Menziesii (Balsam Oregon) Resin, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Citral, Limonene, Linalool
3. Nude Skincare Hydrating Water
For this one, I left the protective bubble around the Caudalie display, sauntered over to Nude Skincare, and picked up a bottle of their Hydrating Water ($20 for 3.4 ounces).
The line has been around for a few years, but Sephora only recently started stocking the products on their shelves. Like Caudalie, Nude Skincare takes a more natural approach than many brands and says that all of the ingredients they use can be safely metabolized by the body. No parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances or dyes, petrochemicals, pthalates, GMOs or triclosan.
All you do is mist Hydrating Water, which is an oil-free liquid spray toner, on to your skin for a quick hit of moisture. You can use it on either bare skin or atop makeup.
The rosy vanilla scent is derived from natural rose and vanilla floral essences, and prickly pear can be thanked for the hydration.
I’ve been keeping it right next to my keyboard and misting myself with it throughout the day. It doesn’t add a ton of moisture, which is fine for what it’s for, but my combo dry/oily skin thinks it’s divine.
It could very well turn out to be my gateway product into the line…
Ingredients: Water, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Glycerin (Plant Sources), Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Maltodextrin (Fermented Sugar), Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Inulin (Chicory Root), Vanilla Tahitensis Fruit Extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide (Corn And Beet), Opuntia Streptacantha Stem Extract (Prickly Pear), Tilia Cordate (Linden) Extract

Versailles de Chanel: Holiday 2012
PINK!
Pink was definitely in the house at Chanel’s recent 2012-13 Cruise Show.
Chanel Makeup Creative Director Peter Philips used a mix of products from the brand, including a couple of things from the upcoming holiday 2012 collection, codenamed Versailles de Chanel, like the Exclusive Creation Mouche de Beaute on the models’ faces and Ombre Essentielle in Rose Favorite on their eyes. Both products arrive on Chanel counters alongside the rest of the Versailles de Chanel collection this December.
Sadly, the thing I want most of all here, that tiny velvet Chanel sticker beneath the model’s eye, doesn’t appear to be on sale… Man, I’d rock that thing in a hot second!
But I’m not so sure about the pink shadow…
How about you? Would you wear it (the shadow and/or the sticker)?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Chris25 says
Yup, I have worn pink before!

I’ve used a NUDE cleanser and was a bit underwhelmed by it. But the Hydrating Water sounds lovely! I’ve also used a Caudalie moisturizer (the Premieres Vendanges cream) and loved it! I should definitely look into more of Caudalie’s products.
Renee | Beauty Fool says
Caudalie is everywhere these days! I see them all over 🙂
Pink eyeshadow… I have to say it’s a yes, when done right! I never used to like it but I was given it at a shoot and it looked surprisingly nice! It’s really versatile and can be both pretty (pastels) or punk (hot pink and fuchsia) 😀
xx Renee
Lindsey says
Definitely yes. I love my Nars Douce France trio of shadows, but I don’t wear Mac Sushi Flower nearly as much. I will say though that I’m on board with the eyeshadow/highlight matching, as I’ve been wearing a lot of orange eyes or lips with my orange hair.
Agata says
Karen, have you used the Claudalie Cleansing Water? I am really tempted to try it.
I wear pink eyeshadow occasionally. Never on its own though, I usually pair it with darker brown color.
Stephanie R says
I’ve used the Cleansing Water from Caudalie and LOVE IT. Which reminds me, I’m due back to Sephora for another. I usually get the smaller version, but I’m getting the larger one this time. It’s perfect for spring/summer and taking off your makeup. The Caudalie Soapless Foaming Cleanser is also really good.
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Ooo someone got more Caudalie! Welcome to the fan club! That Nude hydrating water sounds good too!
I’d wear the sticker, but I’m not so sure about the cherry-toned eyeshadows… particularly not when they’re blended all the way to my eyebrows lol
Nina says
I want the NUDE msting water thingamajig! Hmmm is a lunchtime Sephora trip in order? :-d
I love Caudalie, you know that. I dont love the pricetag but it just smells so crisp, clean and yummy!
Karen says
DO it, lady! I have my bottle next to my keyboard and just spritzed a little on my face. I can feel my skin going ahhhhh!
How are you feeling today? Is your stomach bug gone?
Nina says
I seem to have bounced back from the bug pretty quick – I feel great today, and I hope I continue feeling that way.
So, I wasnt able to go to Sephora today because I had to go buy some hangers. But tomorrow is Friday and I am itching to do some damage! :p
BeccaTheCyborg says
I used to do pink shadow like that aaaall the time when I was younger. Now I get very slightly more restrained, but yeah, pink shadow is still among my go-tos.
Karen says
Hi Becca,
That’s cool. I can do pale pinks, but the brighter ones I have trubs with. If you have any pale pink faves I’d love hear about them.
Kitty hugs to Gatsby and Cinnamon from Tabs!
Katrina says
Oh yes. I would ROCK that pink!
Karen says
Hi Katrina,
Super cool! I dunno if I could pull it off, but I’ll try. 🙂
So, summer’s right around the corner. Have you planted your herbs yet? I remember you saying that you were thinking of rosemary and basil this year.
Stephanie R says
I’d rock that pink. Urban Decay’s got Woodstock and Junkshow, which are two of my favorite pinks. If I wear their liquid liner though, it’s usually atop black, otherwise my eyes look almost like I’m upset.
Now, if I can sweet-talk my sister into driving me to Sephora…(can’t drive this week, long story).
Karen says
Hi Stephanie R,
When it comes to sibling bribery, offering to do chores works 99% of the time. It is the ultimate in currency! Yes, I know from experience.

I love these brands! They make great products and they are paraben-free, which is a huge plus for me. I’ll have to try the Caudalie lotion and firming concentrate. They sound exactly like what my flabby abs could use right now. As for the Chanel look, I love Chanel but the whole pink craze I would definitely have to tone down!
Karen says
Hi Liz G,
Ooh, you have to tell me what Caudalie products you use and love!
How are your two German shepherds, btw? I saw one walking in our neighborhood the other day and he was just the cutest thing…I want a dog, but Tabs is NOT having that.
Kim says
It’s funny you say that because my first thought was “oh, cool decal”. 🙂
You’re right that the jungle always wins in the end. Plus that comparison made me laugh. Does the firming concentrate have caffeine? That’s usually the a big component in both energizing leg creams and “firming” products.
Karen says
Hi Kim,
I know, right? I want to wear that sticker to Trader Joe’s and buy chips.
LOL regarding the jungle: seriously, it is hell bent on taking over! Don’t mess with it.
As for the firming concentrate, I don’t think it has caffeine.
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
So happy you’ve been getting in to Caudalie now! My absolute favorites from the line are the (of course) Vinoperfect serum, Cleansing Water, Beauty Elixer, and Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Cream SPF 15. If you haven’t already, check them out–they AMAZING! And they don’t bother my oily, acne-prone skin in any way 🙂
The only product I’ve used from Nude is their Advanced Cellular Renewal Moisturizer and Serum. I liked the Moisturizer, though I think it did break me out slightly–but the serum was NOT worth the $92. It didn’t do anything, bad or good.
Karen says
Hi Becca,
Good to know Caudalie doesn’t aggravate your acne-prone skin. I have a sample of the Day Cream…can’t wait to try it! 🙂
Have you sniffed any of their perfumes yet? I think I might have to get one of those toon.
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Whoops–sorry, I mean Day Perfecting Fluid, not Cream. My bad!! Do you have a sample of the Cream or Fluid?? If you do have the Fluid, I must forewarn you that it is slightly tinted. Caudalie doesn’t say that in their product descriptions, so I was really surprised when I first tried it. It looks too light for me, but really works itself in to my skin and blends seemlessly. The end result is a velvety, surprisingly matte complexion. It’s freaking awesome! I honestly don’t know if it will be too light for darker complexions, but it’s so sheer, I wouldn’t be surprised. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that! Let us know how you like the Fluid/Cream (whichever it is that you have)!!
JCz says
Thanks for the review Karen – I’ve been using a sample of Caudalie foaming cleanser. It is a liquid in the bottle but comes out as a foam/mousse. When I apply it to my face it feels so thin and watery that I didn’t think it would clean very well, but it does a really good job. I hate the smell though.
What is the texture of the firming serum? I see oils in the ingredient list, but is it greasy and does it absorb easily?
Karen says
Hi JCz,
It’s feels like body oil, but it absorbs very quickly and doesn’t feel thick or greasy on my skin. The directions say to apply it before moisturizer, and that’s what I do. Adding the moisturizer on top seems to help seal the product in.
I’ll have to look into that foaming cleanser! Does it remove makeup, too?
Melissa says
As much as I love the whole Chanel look, I don’t think it would work in my everyday life. I’d probably just wear the pink on many lids and would use more of a neutral highlight.
Both the lotion and the nourishing water sound divine. All though I don’t think I’d use the nourishing water very much since the weather is warming up. My skin isn’t nearly as dry as it was last month. My skin seems to be ok as long as I put lotion on in the am and pm. I haven’t been needing to put on more mid day like I was during the winter and early spring.
Karen says
Hi Melissa,
My skin gets really dry in the winter too. What are your dry skin must haves? I really like Clarins HydraQuench Lotion.
Melissa says
I love the moisturizer by Cetaphil. It was recommended by a dermatologist to me years ago, but I don’t like to wear it under my foundation. For that I like Clinique’s Moisture Surge. It does a good job soaking into my skin, I can wear it under my foundation, and it doesn’t break me out. I also need to switch to a cream cleanser instead of a foaming or gel one. They always leave my skin dry but I haven’t found a good cream cleansed for my combination, sensitive skin.
Dominique says
Hi Karen,
Did you know I reside close to the Caudalie Spa : les Sources de Caudalie ! I ‘ve never been there but it looks pretty. If you ever come to Bordeaux, take a look at their website before, les Sources de Caudalie are among the most beautiful spas in the world.
