Various creams and lotions for lifting, firming and smoothing specific body parts have been around for years (hello, Clarins Bust Beauty and Nivea Good-Bye Cellulite Cream), and while I doubt that any over-the-counter cream will make the dimples on my thighs disappear, I’m not against trying anything once. 🙂
I’ve been testing two new products lately, one from Nude and one from Lush: Nude Advanced Probiotic Skincare Smoothing Body Refiner ($70) and Lush Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream ($25).
Nude’s lotion uses something they call bioactiv fig, along with mountain ash, ginger and ginkgo to supposedly increase circulation and metabolize fat. With an infusion of tiger lily petals, beeswax and avocado oils, Lush’s cream is supposed to tighten skin and “soften your melons” (LOL!).
I haven’t noticed softer melons yet…but I’ll keep trying! 🙂 Oh, and both of these products smell fun-kaaaay. Nude Smoothing Body Refiner has a fragrance that totally reminds me of canned black olives (?), and Lovely Jubblies smells exactly like crazy strong incense, weird!

I don’t know if my boyfriend wants my boobs to smell like incense, haha. I use face cream on my neck and chest but that is about it. I’ve never tried any of these types of creams but I did notice the new LUSH product yesterday and cracked up the page advertising it. So funny. 😉

I’ve never tried products like that before, but if I heard that people had success using them? I wouldn’t say no. 😉 I wast in Lush yesterday and thought about buying it until I smelled it. I don’t know if I want my lovelies to smell like that… 😛

I’ve used a few different firming products and although none of them worked miracles, some of them were pretty good. Dove used to have a product called Firming Gel Cream and it made my skin super-soft and smooth in a way that no other moisturiser ever has. They discontinued it (in the UK at least) a couple of years ago 🙁
I was intrigued by the Lush product, but same as you ladies I was totally put off by the smell. If it was guaranteeing me an increase in cup size I’d have gone for it, but if it’s just going to moisturise I’ll use something that doesn’t smell like evil! 🙂

ewww, I wouldn’t be able to get past the weird smells. I have used a firming cream from the drugstore before… the brand is escaping me. it actually worked pretty well while it was on, but then the effects were not long lasting or anything. good for a pool party though!

Most things at Lush smell awful, in my opinion! I’m definitely not into their heavy fragrances especially if I’m going to end up smelling like a hippie. 🙂
I don’t believe anything can replicate a surgical procedure, so I avoid buying stuff with ridiculous claims unless I like the way it feels on my skin and it’s not too expensive. I know that no matter how much cellulite cream I use it’s not going to get rid of my cellulite. Even skincare products…you have to take what the marketing says it’ll do with a grain of salt.

I just don’t see how a cream can metabolize fat or decrease cellulite. KInda seems like a gimmick to me but who knows.
I think it’s funny that on the Lovely Jubblies jar it says “depending on how blessed you are, you might need two pots”. I saw a bra at Dillard’s yesterday that was a 34K… yes K. I have never seen a bra that big in my life!

I’ve used Bliss Fat Girl Slim. I wanted the backs of my thighs to look smoother, and I think it did work. It’s subtle, but I saw that my thighs were starting to look cottage cheesy, so I tried it and I was happy with it. It doesn’t smell bad or get on your clothes, so that was good. I’d recommend that people try it!

I havent … sometimes I can barely remember to use my regular lotion esp at night so … I probly wont have much success using a “special” one … 😀

Tiger Lily is toxic to cats… please don’t let Tabs get into it!!!!

I have keratosis pilaris, aka annoying little arm bumps, and I’ve recently tried AmLactin to get rid of them. It smells like glue, but it’s doing a decent job. The rest of me makes do with Lubriderm.

I will try this! My keratosis makes me want to skin the tops of my arms 🙁

I use Elisabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for everything. It comes in a tube for $ 14.00. And they recently issued a small collection’s edition jar. I take it everywhere.
It is a lip balm, a heel protectant, an elbow soother, etc. you name it.
I also use Mederma for scars.
It even fades old scars.
I need to try AmLactin today!

Not 2 impressed with the few lush products Ive tried. But I use firming body lotion on my legs and thighs.

I’m currently using Clarins Facial Shaping Lift to say goodbye to my round face. Hopefully it works 🙂 Have you tried it?
Celine says
I used lotion to firm your thighs for a little while, but it smelled so strongly like old ladies I kind of gave it up. Then recently I tried to squeeze some out to start over again, and the oil had separated out and I got a squirtful of oil! Ew! I tossed it.

Only the Jergens body moisturiser, and it was very thick with a heavy fragrance. Not impressed. And it didn’t do anything, but I guess I should have expected that..
I’m a fan of Nude’s stuff, but I have to say all their products have a rather distinctive smell I could do without. Smells like really strong fancy flowers to me; the only reason why I haven’t splurged on their moisturiser yet is because I’m not sure I could handle having that on my face all day.
This being said, I’m currently testing their skin renewal serum (to be launched in Sept) and that stuff is PURE GOLD! I should probably start saving now to buy a new one when I run out of it in a few months..

I haven’t used any firming products (and when you’re my age, gravity has already done enough “softening” of the melons!). Usually caffeine is a major ingredient in any anti-cellulite products and I read years ago that you can basically get the same effect by rubbing coffee grounds on your legs. I haven’t tried that either. 😉
