Throughout the entire history of “Karen going to Sephora,” which is a long history, I’ve never gotten as excited about a Sephora Beauty Insider points exchange as I got for this Collectible Pin Set.
How cute is this!? It’s sooo cute, right? I had to (“had to,” air quotes) go to Sephora last week… Was it last week? Yeah, it was just before I got sick.
Anywho… I had to pick up another bottle of Kate Somerville Anti Bac Clearing Lotion because I was down to the last drop, and without it my face totally breaks out. So, I ran to Sephora, grabbed it, grabbed an $8 lipstick too (we’ll talk about that in a second), and when I was at the front counter, I saw this cute little set of four enamel pins.
When the sales associate asked me if I wanted to redeem any points, I didn’t use my standard answer, which is almost always “no” because I’m hardly ever really moved by any of the chintzy samples they give away for like 500 points, but I saw these pins and was like, “YES, GIRL. HOOK A CAT LADY UP.”
OK, there are four pins… There’s a peace sign with painted nails. That one’s very sassy.
There’s this unicorn, whom I’ve named “Treasure.”
This trio of cute little hearts…
And this cute eyeshadow palette with a brush and what looks like little whiskers (?) on the sides.
So adorable!
I haven’t decided where I’m going to put these yet. Perhaps a makeup bag or a jacket. I dunno. But, I love it! It’s 250 points, so if you’ve got points piling up… I’m just sayin’. It’s also online, too.
The little mini haul I did:
Anti Bac Clearing Lotion. Love it! I’ve talked about it at length so many times, but if you wanna ask me about it in the comments, I’m happy to get into detail. Essentially, it’s an acne treatment with benzoyl peroxide.
The lipstick I picked up is this one from a new Sephora Collection called #LipStories (gotta do the hashtag sign with your fingers when you say it out loud). It’s a massive line of lipsticks in really cute paper packaging, each with its own unique picture on the cap that evokes the color inside. There are three finishes — cream, metallic and matte.
I picked up a cream called Spring Break. It’s a deep rosy “my lips but better” pink, and I was drawn to it because of the beach scene on the cap… There’s a a teal blue ocean, people chillin’ on the beach, but I also like the color. 🙂 I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but I’ve been sick, and I haven’t been wearing lip products because what’s the point? I gotta blow my nose every two seconds (and that’s what I’m gonna do again when I get off this keyboard).
But as soon as I feel up to it, I’ll give this a proper road test and let you know. Oh, and the best thing about this line? — the lipsticks are only $8 each.
Now, when have you ever been able to roll up to Sephora and walk out with an $8 lipstick?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I’m excited to see the Sephora Collection lipstick review! I’m super intrigued by the line. I really hope it’s good because they’ve got some awesome shades, the price is perfect, and the packaging is so cute! I saw the display at my local Sephora and swatched a few on my hand. They seemed nice but I’ll need to see how they actually perform on lips to decide. I also picked up the pins, it’s such a cute point perk! Definitely better than those shoddy, tiny tote bags that I always just end up losing.
Karen says
Hi Katie,
Yeah, those tote bags are pretty lame. I end up losing mine too, LOL! Apparently there was a cute tray a while back? Wish I picked it up when it was available.
Katie says
I saw that tray! It was super cute too but I resisted. The last thing I need is something else cluttering my wardrobe! I hope Sephora keeps up the trend of these cute point perks.
Raeanne Madison says
Sorry, but to me the people on the beach totally look like there’s bugs or ants on the packaging.
Karen says
Hi Raeanne,
Ha! I don’t mind that, actually. Bugs are cool!
Hope you had a nice Thursday. It’s a rainy one here in Northern California.
Rhia says
Love that pin set! Might have to swoop one up myself. I got one of the LipStories lipsticks as well (matte shade in Labyrinth Finish), but still have yet to use it.
Karen says
Hi Rhia,
They’re SO cute, right? I hope you’re able to snag a set soon.
Hope you were able to stay dry today. It was cool and drizzly here in Marin County!
Ruchita says
Those pins are so cute! I’m a sucker for cute packaging so I would totally buy a lipstick with a fun beach scene on it. The color is pretty!
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
The only thing that would’ve made it even better would be a kitty pin. 🙂
Oh, and if I find a #LipStories lipstick with cats on it, I’ll definitely let you know.

I love what they’re doing with Sephora-themed tchotchkes lately. I had to get the pins, though I’m not sure what I’ll do with them. I also got that little ‘wakeup to makeup’ ceramic tray that they had a couple months ago — that one will go on my vanity when we move into our new house!
Karen says
Hi Amber,
Ahh, I wish I got that tray! It sounds so cute. Congrats on your new digs. When are you officially moving in?
Oh, and unsolicited moving advice from someone who did it all wrong the last time she moved: when you get there, immediately unpack your boxes, otherwise you’ll end up with things that will sit in there for years. YEARS.
Amber says
Moving is THE WORST! Hopefully, this will be the last time before we retire. Which is a super long time away.
Our new house is supposed to be finished around April!
Sandra says
I’m a notorious Sephora “Points Hoarder” (it’s scary how many I have!!), but I was ALL over this pin set yesterday!!!
Karen says
Hi Sandra,
I hoard my points too, LOL! If they had cute things like this all the time I’d be happy to use them all up, though.
Have you found anything good lately from Sephora?
Sandra says
I just discovered the Drunk Elephant Protini and my foundation has NEVER looked so good.
A little bummed that the Nars Turkish Delight lip gloss was out of stock at my Sephora. My old one is gettin’ a little funk-ayyyyy…..
Kim says
Treasure is a 100% treasure. Do you remember putting pins on the collar of your jean jacket when you were a kid? Maybe that was not a widespread thing. 🙂
I loved the scene on the Spring Break lippie, too. Always the sucker for packaging. It is warm and relaxing but also has that vibe that Jaws might be on the other side of the tube. HAHA!
Sorry to hear you’re not 100% yet. Hopefully it won’t hang on too much longer. How is Connor feeling? Has she bounced back?
PS Happy (my) Friday. Stunningly we’re away for hockey starting tomorrow. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kim,
Yes, I did. The more flair on your jean jacket the better! Mine had pins AND rainbow rhinestones. I think my mom still wears that jacket, LOL!
I’m still moving around in a cold medicine haze but slowly but surely better. Connor is almost 100%. Whatever this bug is, it’s kicking our butts. I’m just glad hers didn’t turn into pneumonia or an infection. *knock on wood*
Good luck at the game tomorrow!
Rachel Runyan says
I got those pins, too! They’re freaking adorable. A unicorn AND an eyeshadow palette. Yes, please. I’m putting them on my denim jacket.
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
I was surprised that they weren’t sold out. I hope they do more cute things like this in the future because maybe I’ll actually use up all my points, LOL!
Hope you had a nice Thursday. We’re just chillin’ here in rainy Nor Cal and trying to get healthy.
Rachel Runyan says
Me, too! Makeup organizing products and magnetic palettes would be nice, also. Keep getting you rest and get well soon.
Yes, I had a nice day yesterday. I tried to rest. This bug is still lingering on me. My son and I watched Netflix and worked out some details on customizing some recipes for him. We watched a documentary on people who work in Halloween haunted houses, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Captain Underpants. lol We had fun!
Alix says
All I want is that eyeshadow pin.
Karen says
Hi Alix,
That one’s really cute! I hope they do a brights version of it in the future. 🙂

“Throughout the entire history of “Karen going to Sephora,” so funny.
I actually did walk out of Sephora recently with a $10 or $12 lipstick. They had Tarte Color Splash lipsticks marked way down. I picked up Daiquiri. It’s a nice bright color–a bit cherrier than I would normally wear.
