Some textured nail polishes make me feel a little queasy…
Oh! — especially the flat matte ones that feel extra gritty (eww, my skin just crawled).
But even if textured lumps and bumps aren’t your cup o’ tea, I think the six polishes in Zoya’s new PixieDust fall collection are worth a look/feel.
Why?
Because they glisten with gallons and gallons of glitter and cray-cray pigment!
Yeah, and not just cray pigment, but cray². In fact, four of the six — orange Dhara, magenta Arabella, green Chita and blue sunshine — only need a single coat.
The other two — Golden beige Tomoko and purple Carter (my fave!) — are two-coaters, but that doesn’t make me like them any less. Both still coat my nails completely, covering them in opaque color and buckets of glitter.
The intense jewel tones in the release remind me so much of fall that I almost feel like putting away my flamingo shorts.
PRICE: $9 each or $56 for a complete set with six full-size bottles
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores, Whole Foods (yup!) and also online

Like real pixie dust, they’re pretty magical, no? 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Heidi says
Oh, yeah. You had me at “buckets of glitter!”
Karen says
GURL, those are the magic words. 😉
meredith says
Wow, those are pretty cool. I might have to give this textured trend a try.
Karen says
You should try it, Meredith! Ideally do it with glitter. 🙂
Katie F says
I usually don’t like glitter nail polish (I know, I know) but I am obsessed with Pixie Dust! Dahlia (from the original set) is my favorite, it looks like freshly-poured asphalt. <3
Karen says
That color is really neat. What other Pixie Dusts have you tried?
Katie F says
I’m wearing Chyna right now — so pretty, but not as striking as Dahlia. I’ve contemplated Destiny and Stevie from the last release, but haven’t tried them yet. Carter looks soooooo cool! I keep saying I don’t need more of these, but I find them so easy to work with (I’m usually the biggest slob with nail polish).
gio says
That green shade is gorgeous! I haven’t tried the textured trend yet, but these make me want to.
Karen says
You should try it, Gio! It’s not for everyone, but it’s fun.
Kim says
Wow, these certainly get your attention. I particularly like Dhara – I’m pretty sure it would stop traffic!
PS I just noticed your Related Reading section. What a great idea!
Karen says
Thanks for noticing, Kim! That’s a recent change, like within the last day or so. 🙂
Kim says
I think it’ll be a great resource. Plus, it looks cool. 🙂
Lizzy says
Oh, mercy–I was trying to hold off on buying the Fall 2013 Pixie Dusts, but now I WANTS THE PRECIOUSSSSSS 😉
Karen says
LOL, Lizzy! I know this feeling all too well. Which shade is your fave? I’m all about the purple.
The Beauty Glow says
I really don’t understand this textured nail thing. Nail art – yes, Nail textures, no…
Karen says
It grows on ya! Try it sometime just for fun. You never know if you’ll fall in love.
Aida says
I bought Sunshine and I was shocked about how opaque it was, amazing. I wore it for the past couple of days and I love it. It’s what I wanted Liberty to be. I do hope they’ll come out with an even darker navy, I want the look of the night sky (far away from city lights) on my nails :).
Karen says
Hi Aida,
Ooh, that’s a wonderful image. I love nail polishes that feel like they transport you somewhere!
Nikki says
These are beautiful! Is it easy to remove? I tend to shy away from glittery nail polishes because they are so difficult to remove. Any tips?
Karen says
Hi Nikki,
Yeah, they’re glitters, so they are a pain. I do certain things, like timing the removal for after my shower. I wrote about this a while back; hopefully these tips will help:

I don’t like matte textured nail polishes at allll. They remind me of gritty/ textured wallpaper.
I usually don’t like green polishes or glitter very much, but in this collection, I adore the green, the blue and the gold nail polish. <3
Karen says
Hi Laure,
Great choices! The green is even more stunning in person.
Hope you’re having a nice day so far.

I just fell in love with Tomoko!!!
Karen says
Hey Catherine,
I love that color too. It reminds me of sugar!
thatiane gomes says
I want it all?

Karen says
Hee hee, I think that’s a normal response!
Ankita@corallista says
I like Chita and Sunshine! Can’t wait for textured matte glitter polishes to launch in India.
Karen says
Hopefully you guys will get it soon! I can imagine it being a big hit over there, especially the bright jewel tones.
Meredith says
Lol yeah. The matte textured polishes remind me of truck bed liner (yuck). These glittery ones look like fun though. Carter and Tomoko especially.
Tatiana says
Hey Karen, if you’re looking for a great textured nail polish you should try OPI’s Liquid Sand in “What Wizardry Is This?” from the “Oz The Great and Powerful” collection. It’s a beautiful brownish (can’t really describe the color, it changes in different light) color with fine gold glitter shimmer (imagine fine white sand but in a gold color). The glitter in these is chunkier though, which I don’t like so much, but Carter is really pretty!
Nicole says
Gah! I want them all!
Sugarenia says
They look pretty!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you have to pay $2 extra to get the full kit? That doesn’t sound like much of a deal.
Chris says
Hi karen-how is tomoko irl? Does it pull more gold or silver? Mahalo!
Amy says
These remind me so much of the OPI Liquid Sands series! Do you think with a topcoat you could give them a shiny finish as opposed to the texture? I am IN LOVE with Tomoko! x
