Green lipgloss? Sure, why not?
Part of me wishes that the new limited edition Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Green Petal ($26) was, well, even greener than it is, but more on that in a few.
One of three Color Fever Glosses in Lancôme’s Roseraie des Delices collection for spring 2012, this sheer, sparkly gloss surprised me. Before I tried it on, I thought, “Really, it’s green. How wearable can it be?”
Quite wearable, it turns out.
Thick, but non-sticky, with a light lavender flavor and scent that I like, it glides across my lips, where it lasts about 90 minutes.
The only thing is — and this might be why I think it is so wearable — I can barely see any sign of the green once I get Green Petal on my lips. And I really wish I could, because that would make it different and interesting. Instead, it’s more like green microglitter suspended in a crystalline clear gloss.
Great for layering or a quick sparkly pick-me-up, but $26 for what amounts to a slightly jazzy clear lipgloss? Hmm… I like it, but I don’t think I’ll be wearing it to the San Francisco Zombie Prom.
No, it would have to be much greener for something like that. 🙂
PRICE: $26

Lullaby, and goodnight…
I just discovered this song by My Brightest Diamond called I Have Never Loved Someone, and…well, damn. Isn’t it sweet? I get a little weepy there at the end.

Maybe it’s meant to be nude since green neutralizes red. It’s really lovely!

That’s a really interesting point!! I never thought of that….

Yay for zombie proms!!!! Yes you’d definitely need something greener for that 🙂
I really like this gloss, I like the unexpected color choice, and how it looks on lips. And most of all I like that I don’t have to shell out $26 and can just use it at work 😛 I think it’s nice, but I agree with you that it’s a high price for an almost clear gloss.

It looks quite wearable, I’d expected slightly more green pigment from the look of the tube!

wow, it looks gorgeous in the tube, fairytale-like ;D
too bad it isn’t like that on the lips, it’d be cool hehe in a Kesha way

I was intrigued by this one as well, but that is a shame it’s not more green. I was looking for something really unique and interesting too! Oh, so lucky you have a Zombie Prom!

I was pretty sure it’d barely pull green because it looks very sheer in the tube. So yeah, the great thing is it’s wearable, but 26 bucks for an almost-clear gloss? Hmm…

Hi Karen,
It looks nice, totally nude but nice. I thought it would be greener but not at all in fact !

That’s nice. I used to have one that looked like this too, it’s by Kose, but it’s in a palette form, almost looking like the Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette. And it had green purple, pink, and… blue? Can’t remember but it was very pretty!

I was wondering if this would be sheer. I love having clear-ish glosses to wear with lipstick or as a balm, so this one would be pretty for touch-ups in the mirror (and shock factor) while you’re out! 🙂

If it was greener, I would have purchased it. Green is lucious over orange, making it super juicy. But this was just clear, so I was disappointed and didn’t purchase. I can get a clear gloss anywhere for much less. Fail, Lancome.
