These new Flirt! Big Flirt Sheer and Shiny Lipglosses ($15.50) are like the Big Gulps of the gloss world. They come in super-size tubes with big@ss doe-foot applicators similar to the ones on the large-and-in-charge Lipglasses from the MAC Wonder Woman collection.
Flirt claims their massive “megatip applicator” helps them cover up to 170% more surface area than a standard doe foot…
That’s a lot of lip! I don’t know how practical it is for someone with small lips (like me), but I think the big applicator looks kinda cool. The trick, however, is using it without getting gloss all over the place.

I think the gloss itself is a’ight. Not bad. I’ve been into sheer glosses lately, so I like the subtle color payoff of the eight shades, but I can’t say I’m in love with the way they feel. They’re thick, almost uncomfortable — thicker than a Lipglass, even. And then there’s the intense vanilla frosting taste and scent I could do without…
I do really like the colors and the cute polka dots on the tubes (adorable!), but for $15.50 each, those may not be enough to make me a huge fan.

Crostini with Bean and a Green!
I’m sorry it took me forever and a day to send this along, but here’s that yummy recipe for kale and cannellini bean mash, one of my favorite dishes from Carole Raymond’s Student’s Vegetarian Cookbook.
It’s a delicious (and deliciously easy), quick meal. I usually like to round it out with a side salad. 🙂
Crostini with Bean and a Green
1 16-ounce can of white beans (1 1/2 cups)
2 tablespoons of water
2 teaspoons of olive oil
1 large clove of minced garlic
2 1/2 cups of washed, tightly packed and finely chopped kale leaves (de-stemmed)
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
A pinch of salt and pepper
3 or 4 slices of toasted French or Italian bread (I like Trader Joe’s Pugliese lightly spayed with olive oil and then grilled in a non-stick stovetop pan)
- Wash and drain the beans, and then warm them in a saucepan with the water; once they’re warm, remove them from the heat, and coarsely mash the beans with a large spoon.
- Heat the oil in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat; add the garlic and saute for a few seconds; add the kale and stir. Cook, stirring frequently until the kale is tender and bright green (usually 7 to 10 minutes). The water that clings to the kale from washing is usually sufficient moisture for cooking. If the kale appears to be too dry, though, add water to the skillet, 1 tablespoon at a time, as necessary and continue to sauté.
- When the kale is done cooking, add it, along with the lemon juice, salt and pepper to the beans. Stir and taste. Add more salt and pepper if necessary. Spread the bean mixture onto the warm toasted bread for an open-faced sandwich, or use the toasted bread like you would chips and have the spread as a dip. 🙂
Makes two to three servings. Enjoy!

Karen

MOTHER. OF. PEARL. those are some BIG lipglosses! they’re kinda cute, but i can’t say it would be that practical for someone like me who rarely wears gloss; i would never finish it! imaging adding THAT to project 10 pan :p.
dani@callitbeauty says
*imagine
Karen says
It would take decades to finish, LOL!
marisol says
The packaging is really cute.
Adding that to my recipes to try.
Karen says
It’s really tasty and low fat, too!
Have you been cooking more lately?
kimberly says
Waaauw, Big pink kisses is so lovely!

It would be cute with a smokey eye, yes?
Mia says
Berry Bombshell looks so fab in the tube!
And, thanks for sharing the recipe 😀 I’ve been trying to cook with more veggies lately, and this would be perfect as a snack!
Karen says
You’re welcome, Mia! I hope you like it. 🙂
Christy O says
That comparison image TERRIFIES me.
170? That easily covers at least 400% more surface area.
I feel like it’s going to come to life at any moment and viciously swallow the mini doe foot. Run, mini doe, run!
Karen says
Haha, so true! I think the tubes comes alive a night to terrorize all the other lipglosses.
gio says
Wow, that’s a big applicator! The shades are all lovely. 🙂
Karen says
It’s huge!
Poornima says

You’re welcome, Nicole! Let me know what you think of it. 🙂
Sonya says
Holy moley, the applicator looks HUGE! Unfortunately the $15.50 price tag makes this a pass for me..
Karen says
It’s kinda pricey, true.
Vijaya says
That purple shade looks great! =D
Karen says
It’s fun!
Lauren says
How many ounces are they?
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
They’re 0.37 US oz. HTH!
Kaitlin says
Bigger than Rose looks great on you!
Karen says
Thanks, Kaitlin. Happy Friday!
Kim says
That’s no “ordinary” lipglass for comparison! 🙂 Seriously, though, the tube and applicator on the Flirt glosses are huge. Color wise, I like Bigger than Rose. Too bad about the strong frosting smell and taste.
Your recipe sounds great and really easy to make. I think I’ll give it a whirl with the food processor, though chopping and mashing can be very therapeutic.
Oh, my cat-loving, ghost-believing friend said “of course Karen has a ghost if Tabs is acting like that. But tell her not to be worried because, if it was a malevolent one, Tabs would be hissing and running away”. I’m sure you’re relieved. HAHA!
Karen says
I’ve just discovered the joys of the food processor! I have a mini one from Cuisinart and it’s fan-frickin’-tastic. I hate having to chop onions and it just makes everything so much easier. Anywho, let me know what you think of the recipe once you try it.
AND tell your friend thanks (sarcasm!). Good to know that at least my house is haunted by a good ghost, haha!
What are you up to this weekend? I have a baby shower on Saturday, but other than that nothing much.
Kim says
I hear you – I have a mini chopper that gets tons of use for onions too. I love that I can get my veggies very finely chopped with it!
HAHA! I will. She’s definitely a believer (but not in a creepy way). I asked one of the boys if they thought they’d be scared watching a “scary” movie and he was like “um, Mommy, there’s no such thing as ghosts… I’m not Aunt Kelly, you know”. 🙂
I think we’ll try to get to Harry Potter and also spend a lot of time in the pool. It was 100 degrees here yesterday and it’s currently 93 (with a real feel of 97). We’re not used to this kind of heat! 🙂 I hope you have a great time at the baby shower and that Jen loves the bag!
Crystal says
Wow these are huge! I have had a lot of trouble with the Mac Wonder Woman Lip glosses since they were huge but I might check these out anyway!
I love kale, love it. Gotta try this meal out:)
Karen says
These are very much like the WW glosses. Opening them up takes some serious elbow grease.
Re: kale. It’s a relatively new vegetable for me. How do you like to prepare it?
Chris25 says
I love tha polka dots on the tube. It’s so fun and cute. Speaking of glosses, NARS Oasis came in the mail recently. I nearly fainted when I saw the color, it’s that beautiful!
Karen says
Hi Chris,
Did you get the chance to try out your new gloss yet? 🙂
Ruchita says
I love all the colors, but I’m not sure about the heavy vanilla taste/scent. I sometimes get coupons for Kohls so I might try these out if I could get a discount.
Also, thanks for sharing the recipe. It looks yummy and healthy!
Karen says
You’re welcome. 🙂 I usually don’t mind vanilla, but this one is almost too sweet, you know? Remember the Jessica Simpson Dessert line from a few years back? It kind of reminds me of those scents.
I hope you like the recipe. It’s one of my faves for a quickie meal!
Nina says
thanks for the recipe! must make this tomorrow for lunch!
Sarah S. says
Ooh, thanks for the tasty-looking recipe! I’m vegan (diet, couldn’t give up makeup!) and always looking for some protein!
Wendy A. says
I have to say I was in until you got to the scent or it got to you!
But none the less I will still try a shade.
Thanks Karen Happy Friday!
Delaney says
wow! these look gorgeous!! i love coral me fabulous! thank you sooo much for all you do i read your blog everyday <3
Joy says
Those glosses look promising. Do you know who manufactures these?
Karen says
Hi Joy,
They’re by a Kohl’s line called Flirt Cosmetics. I think they’re owned by Estee Lauder.
Angel says
I really hate this new giant applicator trend. I have average size lips and I find the WW lipgloss from MAC nearly impossible to apply. In fact I’m wearing it today and was miffed again when reapplying after lunch. Unless you line your lips, these ginormo applicators cause lipgloss to bleed over my lipline. And they deposit a HUGE amount of gloss. It’s a total waste of product as I have to wipe the applicator on Kleenex before I apply. Not a fan and I will pass on these as well. A simple doe-foot has worked for me forevuh so why fix what ain’t broke? Just another gimmick.
bella says
I love that someone has finally made a giant tube of lip gloss.
I go through them rather quickly.
The Bobbi Brown doesn’t even last me three weeks! I have stopped by Bobbi’s glosses years ago, as it was a waste money!
My favorite glosses are the Victoria Secret ones–four for $20! They are my hg of lippies.
sheena says
Mac Lipgloss is already a staple in my everyday carry alongs, so I will definitely be picking up one of these 🙂
Lisa says
I really can’t tell the difference between expensive lipgloss and inexpensive lipglosses. I’ve found that some really cheap ones like Essence (<$3.00) beat some of the more expensive brands for me (Bare Escentuals).
I love the large doe foot! Looks so fun!
Angela says
I think I’d feel slightly violated if I were to use the giant doe foot.
Gauri says
Big on Beige, Big Pink Kisses, Bigger than Rose and Coral-Me Fabulous just bring your face alive!! Wow!! I ♥ them!
Laura says
Would you have Big Crush #11 by any chance made by Big Flirt?? Thank you.
