FREEDOM! I will forever remember July 12, 2010 as the day my inner drag queen liberated herself from a life of frumpy fringe and entered the world of big, bad falsies.
Before Urban Decay’s Urban Lash line ($16 each; 18 to choose from), it took me FOREVER to put on a pair of fake lashes (okay, more like 20 minutes).
Thanks to the new line, which just launched for fall, falsies are officially less of my makeup Achilles’ heel.
Two of the three I played around with — Tease and Little Wing — took less than two minutes each to apply, while Babydoll took me about five. Maybe it’s due to the quick-drying non-latex adhesive they come with or the ultra-thin base that holds the individual lashes in place (feels so comfy on my eyes), but these sure are easy to affix.
Tease
Little Wing
Babydoll
The company says each pair can be worn up to three times (or maybe more) if they’re cleaned between uses… I gently take a makeup wipe to ’em when I’m done.
Who knew false lashes could be this easy? If you’ve had trubs applying falsies in the past, you might want to give these a try. I’m clumsy as all heck, and if I can use these, so can you. 🙂
My only wish? — for UD to chop a few cherries off the price. Available at Sephora stores and online at urbandecay.com. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

I’m loving Babydoll on you! The extra time was worth it!

babydoll’s remind me a lot of andrea 81’s. also little wing looks like a revlon pair…i love them but not at that price point! $12-$13 is more than enough for premium lashes imo. (feathers, leather, & other special materials aside)
ines + cha cha says
i’m loving babydoll on you!
i also LOVE LOVE LOVE MUFE lashes, especially the 112 and 113 for dance shows. i’m also curious to try these now…
btw, if you treat them extra-gentle, you can keep them for much longer than 3 uses. i find when companies say that that’s a load of BS 🙂
i’m also curious about sugarpill eyelashes – have you tried those?

Fun! I brought some of Ardell’s individual lashes on my last trip to Vegas and wore them every night. Think I might need some of these next time. 🙂

I love these–I’m a total klutz and I’m afraid of using false lashes, but I’m still dying to try them. Thanks for the review Karen! I love both pairs on you 🙂

I tried Revlon’s lashes and didn’t like them too much :-/
maybe UD is the answer 😀
Alison says
You better WORK! 😉
There’s a Sephora opening here on Friday, and I’m starting to compile a shopping list- I might have to add a pair of these. I’ve never tried fake lashes before, but I’m intrigued by them. Sounds like this might be an easy kind to try first!
Jen says
I’ve never tried falsies, but I really really want Little Wing and HBIC. (I’m gonna practice with drugstore falsies first.)
Melissa says
You look adorable in all of those! I have always been afraid of false eyelashes. And since I wear glasses, I’m always afraid they’ll smack the lenses too. I think I will try some of UD’s partial lashes though. So cute!!

They ones you’re modelling look amazing! Still, the price puts me off completely. I’m a total noob when it comes to falsies too so spending $10+ on a pair of falsies doesn’t seem like a smart idea :S
Karen says
Hi Ashley,
You might want to check out Ardell lashes at the drugstore. I’ve heard they’re good and very affordable.

Hey Karen, how r u? its been a while i need 2 catch up the past wk of ur blogs i missed 🙁 lol
i like babydoll the best, thought i would like tease since i always like the outer edges longer but babydoll is actually really nice 🙂
Karen says
Hi Lee,
I’m doing great, how are you?
If you can’t decide between the two, I highly recommend Tease. It’s super easy to put on and feels really comfy!

These are awesome! I must be a true tranny at heart because I literally gasped and almost squealed when I saw Come Hither. I’ve never tried falsies before but I’m getting out my credit card and ordering some NOW! Thanks for this review, Karen – I’m giddy with excitement!!!! 🙂

You are too funny! I am with you in the true tranny at heart department, LOL!

hey Karen! I’m trying to turn a green leaf; do you know which companies don’t do animal testing? I hear L’oreal does but MAC and Nars is vegan. Mainly most drugstore make-up (except E.L.F) is. Can you please contribute to this matter? THANKS!

Karen says
Hi Inaya,
I’m not sure if MAC and NARS does vegan products. You might want to check out Urban Decay and Tarte — they say their products are cruelty free.

i’m clumsy too and i’ve tried falsies for prom and such and it just didn’t work out for my. i’m blessed with naturally long and pretty thick eyelashes but sometimes i feel like they could use a little more volume. i think i’m gonna try hot number! how did you apply them so that it’s easiest for us clumsy ladies.
Karen says
Hi Amanda.
I would go with a half or a 3/4 lash to start. Those seem to be easiest to apply!
If your heart is set on one hot number, you could also cut each lash in half to turn them into halves. Apply the side w/the longer lashes to the outer edge of the eye (the side closest to your ear).
Amanda says
good thinking! thanks for the tips, i’m excited to try. i will keep you posted with my results!

Can’t wait, I love falsies! Still a little too steep in price for me, I’ll probably only buy one and continue to go to Sally’s Beauty for my falsie fix (and I’m always fixin!)

do they feel comfortable?
Karen says
Surprisingly, yes! Usually false lashes annoy me, but I wore Tease all day yesterday and they were super comfortable.
melissa says
seriously kar-are you a mind reader!? i’ve been on the search for good falsies for about a week now, ever since i had an “accident” with a broken lash curler which cut off 1/3 of my left eye’s lashes. yes, tragic. once the tears finally dried, i actually got excited about having an excuse to wear falsies on an ordinary day. these are to die for!! thanks<3
Karen says
Hi Melissa,
Oh noes! I’m sorry to hear about your lash accident. When I accidentally waxed off half of my eyebrow I cried too — you’re not alone!
How good are you with the falsies? If you’re a newbie you might want to start with the partials. They’re much easier to apply.
melissa says
oh yeah, as a self-waxer i’ve had a few “wax-idents” myself! they’re growing back, slowly but surely…and i am SUCH a noob with falsies-i’ve never used them. i tried with the individuals and they didn’t stick. i’ll keep trying-thanks for the advice!
inaya says
thanks for letting me know Karen! I’ve been following your blog religiously for half a year now and you’ll be glad to know most of the products you love; don’t test on animals. Mac, NARS, UD, Rimmel, Body Shop, Bobbi Brown etc etc. Be wary of L’oreal and Proctar & Gamble for the animal lover in you.
nina says
awesome! thank you for posting this! i’m trying to figure out how to save some $$ by doing my own makeup for my wedding – false lashes sounds like a good thing to try!
Teanna says
I think the pricing is fair.. it’s competitive with Make Up For Ever and MAC.
Instant Karma (formerly L) says
I remember you saying that you liked RuPaul’s Drag Race, right? Ru would be proud.
Also, a week or so ago, I got a text message from one of my friends saying “DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS MAN? If not, imagine him in a wig.” It was Tati from this past season! I saved the text, lol.
Back to the topic of false lashes though, I cannot apply them for the life of me. I’m inept 🙁
Mona says
I love the Tease on you uber cute! I’ve just recently started following u & have plenty of reading to do, WHEW! ur such a beautiful lady =)

Hi Karen, I know this is really late to comment, but I just discovered your blog!!!!!! 🙂 You’re gorgeous and your mu looks/tips have been amazing.
I was wondering, have your worn the Urban Lash glue (non-latex) for an extended period of time? I was wondering about its lasting power! I would normally use Duo Lash Adhesive but my sensitive eyes are now having a reaction to the latex in that glue. Thanks in advance!!!!!! 🙂
