Did I mention it’s fat free?
Do me a quick favor and check your blush stash, boo. If you find enough peaches to bake a cobbler, then I’d like you to meet my new go-to girl, Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Sugar Cookie ($18).
The color — a warm, shiny peach with flecks of gorgeous gold — has been around for a while as a permanent member of Benefit’s Silky Finish Lipstick line. Like the other Silky Finish gals, she’s got a thin, creamy texture (very hydrating, to boot) that glides on slick and smooth, and I think she looks GREAT paired with peach blushes like Benefit Georgia, NARS Orgasm, MAC Sunbasque, MAC Margin and MAC Peaches.
Do you remember the sparkly glitter from last week’s look with MAC Lipgelee in Resort Life (part of the Venomous Villains release)? — how it ended up all over the place? Well, Sugar Cookie isn’t messy like that at all. Her golden glitter stays put, but all is not peaches in the garden of golden glitter.
Sadly, this Sugar Cookie disappears faster than…sugar cookies, or the box of toffee macadamia nut chocolates I opened last night right before bed.
My thighs keep telling me “No,” but my taste buds keep telling me “YES!”
I have to reapply Sugar Cookie often — about every two hours or so — unless I layer it atop a nude lip liner, which almost doubles her wear time.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: Some gals may not dig Sugar Cookie’s weak wear time, but a nude liner helps. If you wear peach cheek colors like NARS Orgasm often, you might want to give this cookie a try. Available now at Benefit counters and Benefit.com. Grade: A
Speaking of the Benefit Silky Finish Lipsticks…
Anybody else notice the Silky Finish lipsticks marked as new on sephora.com?
I got excited for a second before I remembered Breathless (a muted grape with a pearl finish) and French (a creamy cherry red) actually aren’t new; both shades have been around for years.
I’m not sure why Sephora marked them as new, but I still think they sound like pretty fall colors. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Phyrra says
You look gorgeous in that picture :> The blush is very flattering on you.
Karen says
Thanks, Phyrra. Gotta love good ol’ NARS Orgasm!
How was your Tuesday?
Jules says
I’m trying not to be too much of a raccoon, but OOOOHHHH SHINY! Definitely checking it out on my next trip to Sephora, thanks for the heads up, Karen! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jules,
Awesome! I hope the color’s at your Sephora store… I checked the sephora.com website and didn’t see it listed, unfortunately.
Do you live near a Benefit counter? Your chances might be better of finding it there.
Terri says
Those colors look great together (and lovely on you)! I’m trying to be good, but I might have to spring for Nars Orgasm (I’ve wanted for a while) and Benefit lipstick.
Karen says
Hi Terri,
Thank you! 🙂
Do you wear bronzer? If you do, you might want to think about getting the Orgasm/Laguna bronzer duo, ’cause Laguna bronzer is AWESOME. It’s this perfect golden bronze with very little orange, so it really lends skin that sun-kissed glow.
Terri says
Hi Karen,
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m a recent bronzer convert, so I will definitely check out the Orgasm/Laguna bronzer duo.
Rae says
LOL! I literally *just* finished scheduling a post for tomorrow — Burt’s Nutmeg lip balm, which reminded me of (dramatic pause) NARS Orgasm! The Burt’s has a darker base shade, but it totally has a similar vibe 😉
P.S. I 2nd Phyrra’s statement! Orgasm looks fab on your lovely mug.
Karen says
Hi Rae,
Oh cool! Yay for having a drugstore option! 🙂
Lauren says
Do you know of a good nude lip liner from the drugstore for a fairer-skinned gal? My lips are pretty pigmented already, so it’d be nice to have something to tone em down a little.
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
Gotcha! I really like the Rimmel Exaggerate Full Color Lip Lipliners. They’re creamy, non-drying and you don’t have to sharpen them. Try East End Snob:

I asked the pale beauties on Twitter for recs, too. If I hear of anything I’ll let you know!
mill says
it does give your lips a certain glow!
Karen says
It does! I love it. 🙂
Amee says
hey Karen…
i must say u r very beautiful…. the lippie looks awesome on u.. its very pretty..
karen have you tested the lippie… does it seriously taste like cookie as the said by the name… :giggle:….
Karen says
Hi Amee,
It’s taste- and scent- free, but it would be kinda cool if it had a sugar cookie flavor! 🙂
Kim says
Beautiful, as always! That color looks fantastic on you. That’s too bad about the wear time, though. With cool weather creeping up, I’m focusing on the most hydrating lip products I can find (and for me, liner dries me out like crazy).
Karen says
Thanks, Kim!
Hmm, have you tried the MAC Cremestick liners? I have trubs with lip liners drying out my lips, too, and I’ve never had any problems with these. They’re quite hydrating!
Kim says
Oh, no, I haven’t, but I’ve added them to my growing MAC list. I’ll definitely check them out. Thanks for letting me know!
Nina says
Ohai Benefit lipstick! I want you! 😀
Karen says
Have you tried the Silky Finish lippies? They’re the bomb.com!
Nina says
no i havent. i havent really been into lipsticks and lipglosses until very recently.
ill check `em out when i go to sephora on the weekend! 😀
Amanda says
pretty! quick question-how does this compare to the new Jemma Kidd makeup school lipstick you reviewed a few weeks ago? (can’t remember the name right now….). They seem like they might be similar. I really loved the Jemma Kidd one, but benefit is cheaper and easier to get a hold of…..thanks!
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
You’re right — the texture/finish is *very* similar. I think Sugar Cookie has more moisture and pigment, plus a longer wear time.
Toni says
*Squeals*!!!!!! I loooooove Benefit Silky Finish lipsticks! I was just in Sephora today to get some stuff and totally forgot to look at these. I have Make Nice and Jing-A-Ling. Sugar Cookie will be mine very soon! I love how it looks in the picture above with the NARS Orgasm blush. I don’t have that, but I might have to get it so it matches my Sugar Cookie! Thanks for sharing and feeding my Benefit Silky Finish lipstick addiction!
Jenn says
Hmm, I’ve been looking for a starter red shade (preferably one that’s not for the faint of heart), do you think Heartless is it?
Jackie says
Love this color on you! Beautiful pic!
Megan says
What a gorgeous lip color! It looks great on you! I hope it will look just as lovely on my NC20 skin! I also love the shade “Skinny Dip”, another Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick.
Julia says
I looooove Sugar Cookie! She’s definitely one of my go-to’s, next to Stila’s Cherry Stain. I get compliments whenever I wear them.
Rosemary says
Hi Karen!
I am a new reader to your blog. After browsing through your posts, I just fell in love with Benefit’s Silky Finish Lipstick in Sugar Cookie. However, I cant seem to find it anywhere 🙁 Was it only a limited edition? Please help!!!!
Laurie says
I am also looking for sugar cookie lipstick by benefit?
