More.
More!
That’s exactly what Estée Lauder’s new Mad Men Collection Rich, Rich Lipstick in Pinkadelic gives you.
More! — as in the actual quantity of product, because each tube contains 0.13 ounces — almost twice as much as the tiny 0.07-ounce tube of Cherry released with last year’s Mad Men Collection.
Cherry was meant to hearken back to the smaller vintage lipstick tubes of yesteryear, but Mad Men fans must have wanted more. Fortunately, EL obliged. Limited edition Pinkadelic contains the same amount of product as the twist-up lipsticks in Estée Lauder’s permanent line.
Unfortunately, Pinkadelic also comes with a higher price tag… It’s $30, which is considerably more than the $18.50-22 Estée Lauder usually asks for a 0.13-ounce tube of lipstick.
Now, I get the rationale. I mean, Pinkadelic is supposed to be special. It’s limited edition and comes with a fancy box and golden pouch (which aren’t shown here… I think Tabs hid them!), but I can’t help wanting more.
Not necessarily more product, but more — I don’t know — something else.
I like the color. You can never go wrong with another flattering, slightly shiny sheer neutral rosy pink, but it only lasts about an hour on my lips, and there is that higher price…
I think Pinkadelic may have been made with hard-core Mad Men fans in mind, and/or girls who like to collect complete collections.
Oh, and if you like the color but want something that lasts a little longer, check out Chanel’s $32 Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Boy.
PRICE: $30 for a 0.13-ounce tube

Netflix streams and ballet dreams…
I think I forgot to mention this. I saw a wonderful documentary about young ballet dancers on Netflix a couple weeks ago called First Position. Have you seen it?
It follows a group of young people (girls and boys) as they pursue their dreams of becoming professional ballet dancers, all the way through training, injuries, and up to the Youth America Grand Prix, a prestigious worldwide competition where the best of the best are awarded dance scholarships and jobs.
I’m so inspired by people who are passionate about their art, whatever it is, and I’m a little envious when someone discovers their calling at such a young age.
Shoot…I’m 37 and I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up! 🙂
If you’ve seen it, let me know what you thought.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Man, Karen, maybe this collection has some kind of magic, because you look TOO FRICKKING GORGEOUS here!!! Don’t worry about the pouch. You’ll find it somewhere unexpectedly. Tabs probably took it for research purposes 😉
Karen says
Hi Sunny,
It’s probably with “his” Hello Kitty palette and Shu Uemura Lash Curler. 😀
Agata says
I second Sunny, you look absolutely fantastic!!!
Karen says
Hi Agata,
It’s the hair; it’s in that stage where it’s behaving itself, haha!
How was your Tuesday? Mine went by in a flash. I can’t believe it’s already dinnertime here on my side of the country.

I saw First Position with my mom last summer, and we loved it! It’s heartfelt, funny, sad, and uplifting – hope you like it!
Karen says
Hi Ellen,
I loved it! I thought the kids were so talented and driven.
Are you a dancer? I used to do hip hop years ago.I miss it!

Beautiful look!
Karen says
Thanks, Jennifer. Do you think you might pick up anything from the Mad Men collection?
Lisa @ MidwestGlam says
That really is a pretty shade of lipstick! The packaging is cute too. I really am a sucker for pretty packaging. And I have to agree with everyone else… your hair is SO pretty!
Karen says
Thanks, Lisa. I’ve been having a good hair run lately. Gonna keep my fingers crossed that it lasts for a while!
Chris says
What are you wearing on your eyelids? That shimmery champagne is gorgeous!
Karen says
Hi Chris,
It’s Sandstorm from the Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette Softbox II.

I thoroughly enjoyed First Position. I’m not a dancer (and I dearly wish I could dance!) and enjoyed the peek into the highly competitive world of ballet. The best “character” is the little Caucasian/Japanese boy. He’s hilarious.
Karen says
Hi Boobooninja,
He was funny. I also liked Aram Bell and his friend. I thought they were very talented and driven!
BooBooNinja says
What are your other favourite dance movies?
Off the top of my head, some classics are Strictly Ballroom, Dirty Dancing, and Center Stage. I do love ballet movies and documentaries though, and would appreciate any recommendations!
gio says
You look beautiful! But what a shame the lipstick lasts so little on the lips!
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Yeah, I’d love it if it lasted longer too!
Jas says
Karen, Your hair look amazing!! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jas,
Thanks! It’s going through that phase in the cycle where it’s behaving itself. 🙂
AstroD says
Hey Karen,
Agree with everyone, you look amazing! I wish my hair looked like that after a few days. Alas it just looks like it needs a wash 😛 I caved and bought Pinkadelic and the compact. I bought them last year too and I don’t even watch Mad Men! They’re so pretty though and I love the vintage look and feel. Definitely a hefty price tag though. Pity the quality didn’t match the cost. Hope you’re having a great week! 😀

I LOVE this pink lipstick and I love the old style of the packaging! I’m not a lauder fan but this is cute!
