Chocolate: 1. Treadmill: 0.
In the Battle of Sweets Vs. Sweat, I can usually bribe myself into working out (“bribe” being the key word here), but I just couldn’t do it last night.
I’d planned to test the sweat-proof-ness of long-lasting new Bulletproof Brows by Too Faced, which I’d been wearing all day, but the Dark Chocolate Stars won in the end…
They always win… (*shakes fist!*)
I actually did wind up testing Bulletproof on the treadmill later in the day, but we’ll get to that in a few. 🙂
A new Too Faced brow product recently launched with the spring Haute Chocolate collection, Bulletproof comes in just two colors — Universal Brown and Universal Taupe — and with the product, which comes in a round compact with a mirror, you also get a dual-ended tool with an angled brow brush on one end and a spoolie on the other.
Too Faced says that Bulletproof Brows has a “cashmere clay formula” that works like a powder, gel, pencil and setting wax in one, and that’s supposed to translate to waterproof, smudge-proof and budge-proof brows in 60 seconds.
It works like Benefit’s brow zings but waaaaay better.
The drier formula might take a little getting used to, but once you figure out how much to apply (at first, I thought it was easy to go overboard with) and find the sweet spot, it looks effortlessly natural.
Good stuff. 🙂
I wore Universal Brunette in my brows yesterday for at least nine hours, and my brows looked full and fresh — no patchiness — the entire time. Even my brow bald spot (EFF YOU, RAUL!) stayed hidden.
I bet that gals/guys who want structured, full brows that don’t look overdone will really dig it. Bulletproof may also be a good fit for you if you want something that you can throw on quickly in the mornings (to be fair, it took me more like 2 minutes than 60 seconds to use, but still — that’s fast). Or, if you want something that you won’t have to touch-up throughout the day.
Now, if you want super sharp, super crisp, defined diva brows, you may as well keep walkin’, because this probably isn’t the product for you. If, on the other hand, you want natural-looking, full brows to wear to brunch with your favorite tinted moisturizer, blush, bronzer and gloss, I think you’ll be happy.
So. Because I really wanted to find out just how waterproof and smudge-proof this is (it is called Bulletproof Brows, after all), I applied some before my run.
Three miles, and several Katy Perry songs later, I was drenched in sweat.
But my brows?
They still looked good. 🙂 There were a few tiny patches where the product had worn away, but they weren’t visible from more than an arm’s length away. Unless you’re being investigated up close and personal by the brow police, it’s coo’.
If I ever sign up for a martial arts class or start dancing regularly again, I’m wearing Bulletproof to my workouts, for sure.
Whatevs, ain’t no shame in wearing makeup to the gym! If I’m ever doing any sort of fitness with mirrors involved, I have to have my brows filled in; otherwise, I feel really weird… And when I do see those nice arches staring back at me, I swear that my high kicks are higher. Makeup as workout fuel — it’s a legit thing. 😀

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A
Speaking of Katy Perry (weren’t we speaking of Katy Perry?)…
You know I’m kind of a KP super-fan, right? If you haven’t listened to her new album, Prism, it’s really good! — especially as workout music. And it rocks the whole way through. I don’t feel like skipping any songs.
My faves on the album are the poppy dance themes (of course).

hmmm sounds like my HG brow mousse from TARTE! ever tried it? how would you compare the two?
Karen says
Hi Yelena,
No, but I’ve heard so many good things about it. I really need to get on that train, LOL!
yelea says
i have been using it for years now. i love this stuff. it is pretty long lasting and looks so natural that i always get compliments on my “full brows”. but like a true make up addict i always wanna try new things. i’m not sure this color would work for me tho. also saw there will be a new anastasia dipbrow which is very similiar to both the tarte brow mousse and the TF stuff. so many options! i cant wait to swatch them at sephora!
Erin says
Yep, sounds like something I want to try! I’m hoping the taupe shade will work with my blonder brows. Exciting new things from Too Faced!
Karen says
Hi Erin,
I hope so too, because this is a great lil’ product.
Happy holidays!
Natalie says
Hi Karen,
I love those Trader Joes Stars! I have the regular dark chocolate ones and I can’t stop eating them.
This brow product sounds right up my alley, since I really can’t be too troubled (aka lazy) with diva brows first thing in the morning (only really for a night out). I’m gonna have to check this out when it hits Sephora.
Karen says
Hi Natalie,
I’m about to eat some more right meow (now)! 😀
What are you using currently to fill in your brows? Do you like it? I go through phases, and right now I’m back to using MAC eyeshadow and an angled brush.
Sunny says
Oh I’d definitely love to check this one out! The shade will probably work for me, and I like the idea that it is “bulletproof!”
Karen says
Awesome, Sunny. I hope you love it!
Casey says
Hi Karen! While we’re on the subject of brows, do you know of any good brow fillers for red heads? (Not Carrot Top red… more auburn really) I’m trying to update my sister’s makeup collection for Christmas, and I thought I’d introduce her to brow filler. Sadly, all of my favorites only come in taupe and brown!
Karen says
Hmm, are you open to the eyeshadow as brow filler? You might want to check out MAC Cork or MAC Texture for her.
I also want to open this up to the floor. Any redheads want to chime in (HELLOOOOO CHELSEA!) and offer up some good colors for Casey’s sister?
Casey says
Awesome suggestion! Thanks for the input!
Lauren says
I’m so curious to try this! I feel like i’ve just been getting the hang of using powder for my brows, but I’ve worn Tarte’s brow mousse before so maybe the learning curve for this won’t be too bad? 🙂
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
If you’re comfortable with brow powder you’ll be able to handle this, for sure.
hanna says
I have terrible brows, so I’m going to check this out.
Karen says
You’ll love it!
Vanessa says
I remain intrigued…:)
It looks like a good product for me since I bike every where. The brown might be a little light and warm, though…
How would you compare it to other water resistant brow options — say, make-up forever’s?
Karen says
Hi Vanessa,
I love the MUFE one, but I think this one’s much more natural-looking, I think. I was worried this brown wouldn’t work for me, either, so I was pleasantly surprised when it did!
Rachel P says
Lol, always with Raul, so funny! This is a product I would totally love to try- and I didn’t know KP had a new album out! I’ve Spotify’d it and will totes check it out the next couple of days.
Karen says
He’s my stalker. 🙁 I want to get rid of him but he won’t go away!
Let me know what you think of Katy’s new album. 😀
Kiara says
Oooh! Bulletproof brows sound nice!
Karen says
Doesn’t it though?
Sylvia says
Sephora has this listed on their site and I got really excited but then I quickly found out that it’s not yet available for purchase. Such a bummer because I want to try this one out ASAP!
Karen says
You must! It’s great. 🙂
Alison M says
I’ve been digging Tarte’s empahsEYES brow pencil but want to shake it up a bit. I also have their brow mousse but think it looks a little too warm. I like my brows ashy 🙂 This shade looks spot on lovely!
Karen says
I keep hearing good things about that mousse! Must try it.
Agata says
I like it. I like natural looking brows. And I always wear make up to the gym or to a zumba class and I’m always surprised by its staying power! Now you’re tempting me to wear Midnight Cowboy to the gym next time I go 🙂
Karen says
Do it. Your Zumba class will be that much more fun with a little bit of glitter, LOL! And the great thing about Midnight Cowboy is that it wears like IRON. You can dance with it all night long and it will still be there by the end of the night. 🙂
Agata says
I think I will have to do it, maybe Monday right before Christmas. And people wear crazy outfits to my Zumba classes, even the instructors wear a lot of sparkly clothes so after second thoughts, maybe a glitter eyeliner wouldn’t be totally out of place…:)
breyerchic04 says
I think as I’m nearing my 30s I need to pay more attention to my brows… Right now the only product i have is the Mac clear brow finisher.
Kim says
Why, oh why, was I thinking that this would be a pencil? I can’t tell you how deflated I was to see that it was in a pan. If it took you 2 minutes, it would take me an hour and I’d probably look like Uncle Leo on Seinfeld when Elaine drew on his eyebrows with magic marker. 🙁 I’m bummed because it sounds right up my alley aside from the application. Great review, though!
Cindy says
I read the post on the creator of Too Faced and he spoke about this BUlletproof brows. I wanna try it because I am brow & eyelash obsessed!!
