It’s totally fine if you don’t know the words to Donna Summer’s disco classic, Last Dance, right now, but just know that from this moment onward, whenever I open the Tom Ford Last Dance Eye Quad to marvel at its golden taupe, beige, forest green and glittery midnight blue deliciousness in your presence, you’re going to have to sing the song with me.
Sorry, those are the rules! 🙂
So you’re gonna have to learn the words. Here, you can practice with the video…
When I’m bad, I’m so, so baaaaad!
P.S. When I was in high school, my friend Jen and I would sing Donna Summer songs all day, every day (especially in the car). Yes, I’m a not-so-secret Donna Summer fan.
Now back to the quad!
Somewhere between that first month with Connor, when I was getting, like, no sleep and would go to Panera Bread in my pajamas just to get of the house for 15 minutes (by the way, I was the lady with the unkept hair and dark circles eating the salad and crying), and today, the Tom Ford Last Dance Quad became my go-to Tom Ford eyeshadow quad.
I can’t say that it’s my favorite Tom Ford quad of all time, because upon that pedestal sits the regal Cognac Sable (which, I’ll never understand why, was discontinued!), but it’s definitely up right there.
I love it.
If you lean toward neutrals but also like fun pops of color, you’ll wanna literally AND figuratively dance with this quad.
With higher-end/designer/expensive makeup, in particular, I always feel like if the brand’s charging as much as they are, the makeup had better pass muster.
I ask myself, “Self, is this something I know I’ll be able to wear at least three times a week without getting tired of it?” Because, as you know, there’s a lot of great makeup out there that costs less than $80, and just because something is expensive doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s good.
With pricey products like an $80 Tom Ford quad, OK isn’t good enough. It should be so good that I swoon on my fainting couch!
Thankfully (or, perhaps, unfortunately), the Tom Ford Last Dance Eye Quad isn’t just OK. It’s great. I think it’s fantastic for everyday neutral makeup.
That golden taupe? Oh, gorgeous! Whenever I get it on my lids, I feel like I’m discovering golden taupe for the first time. And the beige? It’s that kind of shiny that isn’t frosty, which is one of Tom Ford’s strengths when it comes to eyeshadow. He’s really good at that glistening, high fashion, glossy (but not frosty’80s-style) look.
Yeah, the two neutrals might not be as dramatic as a crazy rainbow glitter duochrome, but there’s no fallout, they’re hella pigmented, they’re a breeze to blend, they last all day long and, to top it all off, they’re abso-freakin’-lutely gorgeous, and I could wear them every single day.
The two other colors in the quad — the forest green and the midnight blue glitter — are just as pretty and surprisingly useful. The forest green has slight hints of gold and black in it, and if you want to go all out, you could pop it on your lids and blend the golden taupe into the crease for a va-va-va-voom vibrant green eye.
I’ve been doing winged liner with it using either a black pencil or a gel before layering the green on top. That way the black kinda peeks out from underneath the green. I love that subtle flash of color, but I also like that it doesn’t completely take over the look.
Oh, and the blue in this quad? Incredible. It’s a dark, sparkly midnight blue base with dainty teal glitter pieces, and when you concentrate it in one little spot like your outer lash line, it’s almost like you can see the glitter dancing in the light like runway glitter.
So…it’s NOT like the glitter your 12-year-old cousin wears to a sleepover, you know what I’m saying?
Last Dance is part of the Tom Ford permanent collection, and you can take a turn with it on the dance floor now at Tom Ford counters and online.
MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande 2
On an unrelated note, there are a couple of new Viva Glam pieces coming in September, namely Viva Glam Ariana Grande 2 Lipglass (a shimmering neutral mauve) and Viva Glam Ariana Grande 2 Lipstick (a matte orchid pink).
Check it.
I’m all about that orchid pink lipstick, mama! You down?

Thanks Eesha!

Looking lovely, lady! I really like the subtle touch of green and blue.
Karen says
Thank you!
Dollie says
You look GORGEOUS Karen! But then you look amazing even when you wear an $8 product. It’s not the product that matters but the way in which you apply it. LOVE 🙂
Karen says
Thanks, Dollie! Hope you’re having a nice day.
LindaLibraLoca says
Ha, another not so secret Donna Summer fan here. I still am singing that and similar songs, not only in the car. Mr. Loca told me very firmly the other day that HE is going to take care of the childrens musical upbringing.
Karen says
Donna Summer was AWESOME. Dim All The Lights? Bad Girls? Love, love, LOVE all her music. 🙂
Becky says
This look is beautiful, Karen! I love it! I’ll need to be in a spendy frame of mind to part with that kind of dolla, but the colours are beautiful!

Thanks, Becky!

You look lovely, as always, and when I saw this included neutrals AND blue, I figured you’d be excited about it. 🙂 Tom Ford has a way of turning my head with almost everything. Though, I must say that I loathe the eyebrow pencil. I pull it out every month or so, just to keep trying to like it, but I’m always disappointed. 🙁
PS Are there people who don’t know the words to Last Dance? Truly? HAHA!
Karen says
Are there people who don’t know the words to Bad Girls (my second fave Donna Summer song)?! I can’t even!
BTW, did you ever the Tom Ford liquid liner?
denise S says
I also was disappointed with the eyebrow pencil! I mainly like the brush but the thick slanted tip liner not so much. Especially for the price. It’s the only Tom Ford makeup product I own so far. The eyeshadows and lipsticks always get such great reviews. Pretty eye look Karen!
Erin says
It looks great on you! I’m not sure it’s something I’d wear though. If I had a TF counter near me I’d swatch it!
Karen says
Thanks!

Glad to see you’re starting to post more again. Please keep us updated with photos of Connor, because those photos just make my day! The first six months are the hardest. After that there are definitely more joys than struggles.
I’ve been eyeing this quad since it was introduced. Not sure I’d ever touch that blue shade, but the other three are definitely calling out to me. I’m so bummed that Cognac Sable was discontinued before I could snatch it up. At $80 a pop you just can’t buy all the Tom Ford quads at once. You kinda have to save up for them.
My most used TF quads are Cocoa Mirage and Nude Dip with Orchid Haze a close third. I have to say the past few weeks, I’ve either been wearing TF or Suqqu shadows.
Hope you have a great weekend. Anything special planned for Connor’s dad?
Karen says
Hi Tatiana,
Will do! I have a ton of pictures of her and love to share her with everyone. 🙂
I’ve heard that with babies the 2nd and 3rd year are difficult, too. Do you think that’s true?
Father’s Day is going to be pretty chill. My parents and brother are coming over and we’re going to hang out here! What are you guys doing?
Tatiana says
The second and third years had their moments good and not so good. They sort of act like adolescents at that time. A lot of it has to do with limited language skills and budding independence. Mostly the independence and wanting to do things their way. I always gave my daughter a limited set of choices that I was OK with. Like here’s two outfits for today, which one do you want to wear. (Not what do you want to wear from your entire closet. Because that’s just too overwhelming for them.) Or do you want milk or OJ? Do you want and apple or an orange. She got to decide and felt in control, but never knew that there was chocolate out there. Lol. I’m sneaky like that. It’s still a long way off, so enjoy the moment.
Just making steaks for Dear Hubby. Daughter is making him a german chocolate cake, his fave.
And we’ll probably be hoping, praying and cheering for a Warriors win.
Karen says
I’ll have to remember that trick when her time comes. I’m hoping that her easy, happy personality will extend into her toddler years (fingers crossed!).
Sounds like you guys will have a relaxing (and delicious) father’s day. Your daughter’s German chocolate cake sounds like the perfect present! Maybe I’ll make El Hub some brownies or something for his very first father’s day. 🙂
Oh, and the game! El Hub’s really nervous about it. That last game was rough to watch; we ended up turning it off shortly after the second quarter.
Lisa says
Years 2 & 3 have different challenges but many delights too. I don’t know they are harder necessarily. Don’t stress, it’ll be fine!
kwmechelle says
Lemme just say that I’m down with this whole darn post. Everything about it. Including the makeup ?
Karen says
Hey Kwmechelle!
GIRL. That game. What was going on with the officiating? El Hub got so mad we had to turn off the TV.
I hope you had a nice Friday and that Aunt Flo is being kinder to you. I’m so ready for the weekend, it’s not even funny.
kwmechelle says
GURL! It was so bad I had my TV on mute for the majority of it. Until I saw Lebron’s dirty un-sportsmanship, then I just turned it off. Ayesha Curry spoke for all of the West coast, I’m sure, and those of us on the East coast with the common sense to root for the better team. I do feel like it was rigged. My only hope is that GSW pays them back, with interest, tomorrow night & beats their bootie 🙂 Aunt Flo is gone & I’m sipping on a Starbucks tall white chocolate mocha- extra sweet. Yeah, I like it to taste like candy ? Beautiful day here. I hope your weekend brings you sweet baby smiles, more chunky baby thighs, and perfect highlight to land a small aircraft. Hugs! East coast homie ?
Karen says
It was SO bad. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the Warriors win. I’m already nervous about it, GAH!
Your Starbucks drink sounds really good! I’m usually pretty boring when it comes to my lattes (plain, no foam)… Maybe I’ll explore a new flavor this afternoon, so thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Are you still pet sitting? Say hi to your four-legged friend for me!
Chris25 says
Your whole look is superb! Another fab post.
Jan says
Hi Karen,
Glad to see you are coming back more often now.
The quad looks great. Your lips look great, too. What lip product are you wearing in the photo?
Karen says
Hi Jan!
Thank you. It’s nice to be back at it again. 🙂
Oh, and the lips are a Plushglass by MAC called Full For You. It’s a cool pink with silver pearl. Let me know if you have any questions about it!
