Holy crap, Tom Ford! Wherever you’ve been spending your summers, to borrow a line from Liz Lemon, “I want to go to there.”
I can see you lounging by an infinity pool in the late afternoon, watching leggy ladies in Burberry bikinis test the water as beams of peachy, pinkish gold glisten on bronzed skin…
You take a sip from your daiquiri (complete with pink umbrella, of course) and make a mental note of every detail, which you promptly add to your summer collection. “Luxe, luminous, sunlit and sensuous,” you muse. “The ladies will love it.”
High five, Tom! Bulls eye. 🙂
Like two weeks on Kauai spent alternately napping and swimming, the new nine-piece Tom Ford Beauty summer 2013 collection is the stuff of my dreams, and maybe also yours, if you like traditional summer makeup looks.
Picture peach, pink, gold and bronze dancing across your skin; opalescent, soft shimmers; and radiant, dewy finishes that contrast wonderfully with sun-dappled bronzed mattes.
Good grief! — I just had to fan myself for a second, Blanche Devereaux-style…
The new $40 Tom Ford Beauty Escapade Cream Color for Eyes is expensive, but oh, so flattering. And it isn’t fussy at all. The peachy, pinkish golden tones feel very of-the-moment to me, like rose gold jewelry (which I’m currently obsessed with), but for your face. I think the entire launch is gorgeous, especially on a tan.
I pat and blend a small amount of the lightweight mousse on bare lids (hardly have to use any, and I can even skip primer!), followed by several layers of mascara. After that, my lids just glow. I look like a girl who’s biggest care in the world is choosing between the beach or the pool. 🙂
And as a bonus, it also works great as a base for powder eye shadows. I wear it with tan, gold, peach, pink, bronze, coral, or even teal and purple. As pricey as it is, Tom, ya done good.
PRICE: $40
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Tom Ford counters (may also be available online at neimanmarcus.com)

What a beautiful collection. I love rose gold stuff. Smize!
Karen says
Hi Kimmwc03,
Smize right back at ya! Do you think you might pick up this cream shadow?
Katherine G says
I love rose gold, myself. We got our wedding rings today (Kay Jewelers if anyone is looking for rings that aren’t super expensive), and my wedding ring is rose gold (plus it was cheaper than white gold). I’ve been on a search for some more rose gold makeup, and while pricey, this looks like a great one for a neutral work look or a job interview. As far as rose gold makeup goes, the only thing I own is the Maybelline Illuminating Lights palette in Rose. It’s pretty but of course I look for even easier things like this one and the Laura Mercier cream shadow stick in Rose Gold.
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
Yay for the big day being just around the corner. Can’t wait to see the pics and your makeup! What does your ring look like? Did you go for something simple or opt for lots o’ bling?
Thank you for reminding me about Rose Gold. I really need to grab that shade.
Katherine G says
Hey Karen,
It is a simple rose gold band with small diamonds twisted around it. I can’t have anything super fancy for my job, and I was glad to find this one at Kay, because it’s right up my alley for something different but within what I wanted us to spend. I need to grab that color, too! I will be making a Sephora trip just for the wedding to pick up some nice neutrals like that one and maybe the UD Naked palette.
Karen says
It sounds dainty and pretty, and flexible enough to go with everything.
What’s on your Sephora list? I have to go too…I need to pick up a moisturizer from Caudalie, another stick of Bobbi Brown foundation and a pot of her Peach concealer.
Danielle says
TOO PRETTY! I was shopping earlier, but now I will have to go back lol.
Karen says
Hi Danielle,
Oh, what were you shopping for? Did you find anything interesting?
Agata says
Simply stunning! And the model in the promo pic looks amazing too, so summery and bronze-kissed!
Karen says
Hi Agata,
I love it. 🙂
You would pull these colors off so well, I bet!
Did you have a nice weekend?
Agata says
I love such colors! I might have to splurge 🙂 My weekend was kinda uneventful. Just chilled out, worked of course and bought some hanging baskets with flowers. Did you do anything interesting?
Karen says
Oh I love those hanging baskets, especially when the flowers are colorful. It reminds me of Europe. Did you get the kind that hang from a hook, or the kind that you go over a window ledge?
Last weekend El Hub and I went on a day trip to Napa. Even though we both had terrible allergies it was fun!
Vesna says
This collection isn’t really about my colors but I like this cream color. Could be used as highlighter as well. And, of course, don’t need to mention this excellent packaging <3
Karen says
Yes! Tom Ford does amazing packaging.
Chelsea says
Rose gold is my jam. I normally wear yellow gold jewelry because my engagement ring is yellow gold, but rose gold is really flattering on gingers.
Karen says
I’m so glad rose gold is having a moment. It’s really flattering on so many skin tones.
Plus it complements so many different shade of cat/bunny fur, hahaha!
Chelsea says
EXACTLY. I’m glad my pets coordinate their outfits though – Jiji is all black, and Quincy has a white collar and mark on his forehead. Our old kitty, Gomez (RIP) was a tuxedo kitty, so he also coordinated nicely with Quincy.
Annaham says
Really pretty, except I can’t quite justify spending $40 on a cream shadow! 😛
Karen says
The price hurts, for sure. It’s great quality though.
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
This is definitely gorgeous but so far, none of the shades have really enticed me enough to drop $40. I just don’t use really light, shimmery shades like this all too much–I’d rather spend $40 on a mid-tone shade that I can just apply all over the lid to provide some color and a touch of definition. But that’s just me…
Karen says
It’s not for everyone.
Eesha says
I can’t stop staring at this Tom Ford beauty. Oh, so wow!<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
$40 for an eyeshadow is a shocker, definitely! But, I am sure, it will be worth the splurge.
Karen says
It’s even more beautiful in person. 🙂
Jenna N. says
I certainly can’t afford $40 for this, but I do love it. Do you happen to have a cheaper dupe suggestion Karen?
Karen says
Hi Jenna,
I’ve been looking and can’t quite seem to find anything in the same formulation that’s cheaper. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Urban Cowboy is kindasorta similar because the base peach shade looks like Escapade, but it’s a pencil and it has flecks of silver glitter. Urban Cowboy also doesn’t have quite the same peachy-pink-gold pearl action. Let me think for a little bit more and see what I can come up with.
Jenna N. says
Okay, great! Thanks Karen 🙂
Kim says
Oh, wow. I’m looking away. That entire collection is breathtaking. My wallet just crawled to the bottom of my purse and hid there. 🙂
Karen says
Yeah. It’s killer. This shadow is super easy and it wears well though. Both are great things! 😀
Kim says
And one of them makes me sing like Janet Jackson. 😉
Maria says
I’m so glad I came back and checked for anything I missed at the end of the daily MBB email! I needed that giant smize pic of Tabs so much. I have no idea what it is, I tried to watch that video back when and I couldn’t really follow. I don’t know what I am, engineer/ creative brain, a lil of both, but some stuff goes over my head — but a FAB pic of Tabs NEVER!!
Karen says
Hi Maria,
He is a natural smizer. He smizes and poses every chance he gets, LOL!
I hope you had a nice Wednesday. Anything new to report?
