When it comes to skincare products, I have commitment issues, and it’s probably one of the many reasons I like the little bottles and jars in MAC Sized to Go.
By shrinking nine products down to 1-oz. in size and setting their prices (almost) accordingly, MAC made the products easier to travel with and try.
Like the $10 Sized to Go Pro Eye Makeup Remover, one of the gentlest, most soothing (it contains cucumber extract) and hydrating eye makeup removers my eyes have ever seen. Unlike many other removers, it neither stings my peepers nor makes me see clouds. And even when I use it to remove makeup along my waterlines, I don’t shed a single tear (a rare thing).
A few drops on a cotton ball take care of everything from light powders to heavy duty stuff like Fluidline and Prolongwear Concealer, all without leaving an oily residue behind. I don’t even have to rinse if off with water, as if it wasn’t awesome enough, and after using it my skin feels clean, hydrated and fresh.
I have a feeling I’ll be reaching for it often, since it’s small enough to hide in a pocket or a small purse.
But like Achilles, every hero has a weakness.
In this case I think it might be waterproof mascara. When I pit it against two layers of Urban Decay Cannonball, it stumbles, but that’s only an issue if you wear waterproof mascara, and if you do, you might consider something like Lancome Bi-Facil ($24) or NYX Eye & Lip Makeup Remover ($8).
I’ve been going through a waterproof Cannonball Combo phase, but I’m sure it won’t last forever. When it does, I can see myself finishing this little bottle and springing for the full size.
If you rarely wear waterproof eye makeup and have dry skin and/or sensitive eyes, keep the $10 MAC Sized to Go Eye Makeup Remover in mind.
PRICE: $10 for a 1-oz. bottle; $18 for the full 3.4-oz. size
AVAILABILITY: Available now at MAC stores, counters and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A-
Falling Fluidlines and not-so-fleet feet
Feet are always at risk when you’re addicted to makeup. This morning I accidentally dropped a jar of MAC Fluidline on my right foot, and now I have a nasty bruise, thank you very much, Dark Diversion from Stylishly Yours. Those little glass jars are hella heavy!
Fluidline, meet foot!
Have you ever accidentally dropped any makeup or beauty products on your feet (or any other part of your body, for that matter)? I bet some of the worst offenders are nail polishes and perfumes (OUCH!).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Jessi says
I never wear waterproof mascara so this remover sounds perfect for me. Plus, I wear contacts so oily eye makeup removers are even more annoying than usual. I’ll probably end up buying every single one of these minis just because they are so cute!
Karen says
Yay! I think you’ll like them a lot.
Appu says
I might consider buying the Fix + and this eye makeup remover from the small sizes. But, are they going to be available online at least or just MAC stores?
Karen says
They’re already online. 🙂 Here’s a link: MAC Sized to Go.
Resa says
Ouch! I dropped my hair straightener on my foot once. That. is a mistake you only make once. If EVER!
Karen says
OMG! I can totally see myself doing that.
Radhika says
I would love to try out the smaller sizes – hate buying the larger size and then finding it doesn’t work for my skin type.
Karen says
Me too! I heart these little trial sizes. 🙂
Gina says
I’ve never dropping anything on my feet, but I did step on my hair straightener, on the highest heat setting D: My foot was numb for about a week!
Karen says
Oh no, Gina! 🙁 I bet that was rough.
Rae says
Ha! I know exactly what you mean about the Fluidline jars – I’ve dropped my Blacktrack on my foot a few times, too >.< Wasn't fun the first time; DEFINITELY wasn't fun the second!
Karen says
Yeah, who knew that those suckers would hurt so much? Ouch!
Heidi says
Once I dropped one of those big, liter size bottles of shampoo on my foot in the shower — that was fun!
This makeup remover sounds nice. I don’t use waterproof mascara so it would probably work well for me.
Karen says
Ouch! I hope the shampoo bottle was closed. I’d be very cranky if it spilled all over the tub!
KSlone says
Those d%*^n jars! Killed my toe once! Polish bottes are evil. I have a nail salon, and we drop then constantly. What doesn’t jamb toes, shatters on the walls and floor!
Karen says
That’s cool that you have a nail salon! I’m actually looking for a really great base coat. Do you have one to recommend?
Desiree Cherisse says
Is the Mac makeup remover oil based? I usually use only oil based products on my face since my skin dries up pretty quick (damn you, Neutrogena).
Also I have made spilling nail polish + nail polish remover on my self and the rug a part-time job at this point. Sucks.
gio says
The makeup remover sounds lovely but too bad it doesn’t work well with waterproof mascara.
Karen says
I know! If it did it would be perfect.
Rita says
I don’t remember dropping makeup on my feet, but if I ever drop anything, it surely is on my feet!
Karen says
Gravity is funny that way, isn’t it? I feel like stuff (especially items with sharp corners) automatically gravitates toward my feet!
Juji says
I love the travel sized products from MAC!
I was very excited to see travel friendly packs including my beloved cleanse off oil, prep+prime set powder and fix+ on a trip to Malaysia last year. Possibly one of the best things about shopping at MAC at KLCC!
Definitely will be looking for more travel products when I travel next! 😀
Karen says
Yes! I think it’s one of the best things they’ve done with the skincare line in a while.
Kim says
I’m definitely keeping this MAC cutie in mind. I don’t wear waterproof mascara, so it may be a winner for me. 🙂 I had a small Bi-Facil, but it did leave my eyes a bit blurry (and greasy feeling), like the other oily liquid removers I’ve used.
I’m sorry about your foot. I’ve dropped things like shampoo and body wash in the shower. Those big, full bottles hurt, too – even if it’s just a graze! 🙂
Karen says
You might really like this one, then. NO greasy feeling whatsoever!
We haven’t had the chance to catch up on Game of Thrones. You know what occurred to me the other day? Khal Drogo really works his eyeliner. I want to see him in emerald green or teal, LOL!
Kim says
I think I’ll have to give it a try. I know that leaving any makeup behind is not good for the “fine lines”, so I need a solution. 🙂
You are so right about Drogo. I love him as a casting choice – he’s working the liner and the braided hair, which could be tricky for most men. Btw, he’s the new Conan the Barbarian (you may have mentioned that you knew that already). He sort of reminds me of Lafayette that way. It’s not fair that there are men who can wear liner better than me! And HBO seems to know how to cast them. HAHA!
Vvn says
Oh Gosh, I dropped my MAC Brush Cleanser on my foot, and my poor little pinky toe started bleeding! I had no Idea it would be so heavy!
Karen says
Yikes! Your poor pinky!
Nina says
i got a sample of that eye makeup remover and id have to say it is lovely!
ive had stuff fall on me lotsa times – shower gels, a bottle of philosophy micro delivery exfoliating wash, and this morning, an eyeshadow pan fell into my white shirt. needless to say, i had to change my shirt!
Karen says
Oh no! What color eyeshadow was it? Whenever I wear a white shirt I swear I’m destined to always spill blue shadow on it. 🙂
Nina says
it was mac’s sketch — ya’know, dark and pretty pigmented?
i spritzed the shirt w/ some shout — hopefully the eyeshadow marks will go away in the wash. 😀
Chris25 says
In high school my friend Terri dropped her Masterlock onto her toe, which turned purple and swelled horribly. Eek.
I am sure I have dropped many products onto my toes. No wonder I have strange looking feet. 😛
Karen says
Okay, OUCH. Now that takes the cake! Those things are super heavy.
angie says
i love pro makeup remover, b/c it easily removes smudges and mistakes without removing all of your makeup, great for cleaning up smoky eye fallout!!! i use this often to remove my makeup, but it’s true-it does not remove waterproof! especially things like liquidlast…for that cleansing oil is a dream!
Karen says
I just started using the Cleaning Oil and it’s great. 🙂
Beautiful Canvas says
Hi Karen,
This is off topic – I was just wondering about those Goodies rollers you posted a while ago. How are they turning out for you? Do they give your creases? Thanks!
Karen says
They’re still a work in progress! I tried them over the weekend and it was… stressful. I’m going to try them a few more times to see if I can work my technique out, and then I’ll review it!
G says
I love the Bliss Eye Makeup remover – think you reviewed in a long time ago – so refreshing & it lasts forever – no oil so thats great for dry eyes.
Karen says
Have you tried putting it in the fridge? It feels so good on a hot day!
G says
Perfect in the fridge for the hot steamy summers in Florida – Love it.
Vijaya says
Thank goodness I never dropped a fuidline on my foot! However, the other day I spent the morning dropping every single eyeshadow I was using, mutiple times. Good thing they were loose shadows. =]
