Some products are fun to talk about, in part because of their names, like this new Rouge Coco Shine from Chanel. It’s sooo En Vogue. No I mean, that’s what it’s called. En Vogue. 🙂
It’s one of two new limited edition $32.50 Rouge Coco Shines released with the Summertime de Chanel collection, available now on Chanel counters and chanel.com.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shines in En Vogue (left) and Empreinte
Before my lips got En Vogue (okay, sorry — no more puns), just based on how it looked in the tube, I expected a brighter, warmer orange, but it applies more like a neutral pinkish coral.
I like it! And I also like the matte stain this lightweight, slick lippie leaves on my lips after it wears away (like the Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colours), which en Vogue’s case (was that a pun?) takes about three hours.
Well, the wear time varies… I get about three casual hours with it, or two if I’m just sipping coffee or tea. It usually won’t, however, make it through a meal.
Moisture and shine are two of the Rouge Coco Shine line’s shining achievements. All of the lipsticks I’ve tried from the line feel great, thanks to a hydrating formula (it has a light rose flavor and scent) that doesn’t dry out my lips.
I like En Vogue (the lipstick and the group). I don’t like the price or the wear time, but I think it’s a shade that should flatter most skin tones.
PRICE: $32.50
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters and chanel.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (love the shade, not the price)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. It’s Thursday, and you’re going to have a good one. 🙂

I’m surprised you didn’t put an En Vogue video up there! :p
I bought this a few weeks ago but ended up returning it because it was way too sheer for my taste. Love the colour, though!
Karen says
Ha! I did listen to En Vogue while I wrote this post!
Vijaya says
I adore Rouge Cocos! They are hands down my fave lipstick formula.
Karen says
Yup, they’re great!
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
This looks gorgeous on you, Karen! But yeah, Chanel stuff comes with a Chanel price tag.
Karen says
Hi Sunny,
It sure does. Those interlocking C’s come with a price!
Kim says
You’re going to have a good one, too. It’s simple karma. You make others smile with your very punny reviews and you’re rewarded with a good day. 🙂
The wear time isn’t a deal breaker for me because I like the color and the moisturizing aspect. The price tag is a problem, though. Mostly because I know I’d find it in a coat pocket about a year from now, having been used like 3 times.
Karen says
Hee, hee, you’re so sweet, Kim!
Sounds like you’ll need to make the jump with the Rouge Coco Shine that you can wear every day so you can that bad boy in your purse and you won’t have to worry about switching out your lipsticks.
Anywho, almost to the weekend. What do you and the boys have planned?
Kim says
Very tempting on the every day Rouge Coco Shine! 🙂
I have a Relay for Life fundraiser to work tomorrow afternoon but then we’re going to dinner and to see the Avengers (I think the grown ups are as excited as the kids!). On Sunday, we’re going to dinner with my parents for a Mother’s Day double-whammy. It should be fun. 🙂 How about you guys? What are the weekend plans? Will you get to see your Mom?

I love Rouge Coco Shines. Another thing to add to my shopping list!! !:-)
Have a great almost-weekend Thursday! 😉
Karen says
Hi Nina,
I love them too. They’re especially great for summer when you don’t want anything too heavy on your lips.
The weekend’s almost here, hurray! Got any plans yet?
Nina says
I just want some downtime, really. Last weekend was pretty tiring and I feel the need to do nothing. 😉
Reading (finish One Day and get back on track w/ Charlotte & Emily), some good noms and laundry — thats about the extent of my plans!
Kris says
I love this line, but you absolutely have to go to the counter and try the colors on – they do apply more shear than they appear in the tube..I went in for “Boy” but walked out with “Monte Carlo”, which looks neon red in the tube, but applies as a lovely medium, shiny pink. “Boy” just disappeared on my lips. One of the few lipsticks that doesn’t irritate or dry.
Karen says
Hi Kris,
I’m a big fan of Boy. It’s one of my faves! 🙂
Did you ever pick up any of the Aqualumiere Glosses before they were discontinued? They were like the lipgloss version of these lipsticks — light, glossy and very comfy.
gio says
This is too sheer for my taste, but it looks gorgeous on you!
Karen says
Thanks, Gio!

What is the Chanel compact you are holding in you hand?

Aahh that explains the golden Cs 😀 I have never bought any of their bronzers..so never noticed that before!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
I am loving the look of En Vogue. i also saw swatches of Empriente on another blog and REALLY want that one too–I was scared it would be too nude for my skin tone, but it actually is a very pretty sheer, pinky-nude. Definitely am considering getting both of them–if not at least En Vogue. I wonder how it compares to the Dior Addict Lip Balm in Crystal Coral?
Karen says
Hi Becca,
I just put a review of that shade up! Here it is in case you’re interested:

LOVE En Vogue! So subtle (NC35ish skin, slightly pigmented lips)-layer some glossimer in 166, and voila, that’s one hot lip look! Plus it doesn’t kill my lips :).
