Becca longs to light up your lids for the holidays, babe! 🙂 Just say “Seasons Greetings” to their Jewel Dust loose powders ($24).
I’ve been wearing two of the 16 shimmery powders (they’re like business casual MAC Pigments) — Mazikeen (a rich royal purple with subtle, multi-colored glitter) and Asral (an opalescent pinkish purple with silver glitter) — and I can’t wait to give the rest of them a try.
Like the MAC piggies, these come loaded with full of pigment, but the finish is a touch different.
Neither of them are as frosty as MAC Pigments, which is cool in this case because I think they end up looking more natural on the eyes.
Just gives you another option. 🙂
Becca loves products that multitask (hello, Beach Tints!), and, while most of these 16 shades were designed with eyes in mind, a few of the colors — Titania, Astra and Nissa — also play well on lips and cheeks (they’re marked as lip and cheek-safe).
All of them can be worn alone, wet or dry, or layered atop other products like powder/cream shadows and cream blushes on the eyes, or lipglosses for the lip-friendly ones I mentioned above.
For awesome all-day wear, layer Jewel Dusts on top of an eye primer like NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base or Urban Decay Eden Primer Potion.

MAC Pigments are great, and you get a decent amount for the price (a 0.15-oz. jar goes for $19.50). A 0.04-oz Jewel Dust costs considerably more for a much small amount ($24), but…I love Becca’s packaging. The wide base on the Jewel Dusts feels sturdier and more stable than MAC’s pots, and so far (knock on wood), I haven’t knocked one of them over (I’m sure it’s just a matter of time, ha!).
The Becca sifter top also makes it easy to control how much product you use, which is great considering how they don’t contain very much product in the first place.
To any MAC or Becca bigwigs reading, how about a larger hybrid pot WITH a sifter top? 🙂
If you find yourself using too much product despite the helpful sifter, you can use a small piece of tape to cover some of the holes.
You know, I really like these a lot. If you like wearing colorful, sparkly, yet still rather sophisticated eye looks — in other words, you’re not looking for teenager-y glitter or high-shine frost — take a closer look at these.
I’ve seen online sample sites HauteLook feature Becca on occasion… If I get wind of an upcoming sale, I’ll be sure to let you know.
PRICE: $24 for a (smallish) 0.04-oz. pot
AVAILABILITY: At select department stores and also online

I have a few of these from when they were liquidating Sephora’s stock of Becca. They are nice, but I don’t think worth the retail price. I like the purple on you!!! Very pretty!

Have you tried any of the NYX loose pearl powder? If Mazikeen is coloured anything like their cleverly named “Purple”, we may have a decent dupe on our hands! Maybe blended with a bit of NYX Space to get the royal blueish in there…. hmmm..

love the packaging! thankfully, i’m not a fan of loose powder products so my bank account can heave a great big sigh :p

Oh Karen, you kill me! Mazikeen looks gorgeous — it does remind me a lot of an Annabelle pigment I already have, though, which settles my lemming a little! (This one. I think Mazikeen’s a little darker, though?)
knownever says
Oh Mazikeen is still pretty on, but a bit disappointing from how great it looked in the jar.

Omg I love how that eyeshadow looks on you, so pigmented. I will definitely try it out.

These are REALLY great! The best pigments ever, I’d love to have them all. If anyone is interested, zuneta.com has them for almost half of the price now 😉
Karen says
Thanks for the heads up, Marina.

Gasp! What lovely violet eyes! Lusting over asral, it’s really cool how the pigment looks white in the jar but lilac on the skin. Do you know of any MAC dupes for these?
Karen says
Hi Lucie,
Vex eyeshadow is kinda similar. It’s got that pinkish white opalescence. It might flash a little green, too, depending on your skin tone.

Those pots are sweet! You know me, always more excited about the packaging than what actually comes in it (and you’d think I’d know better!). 🙂
I like the Mockingjay-esque necklace, btw. 🙂
Karen says
And this is why you’re awesome — I was hoping somebody would pick up on the Hunger Games/Mockingjay vibe. 🙂
