I feel like I’ve been robbed of a Tuesday afternoon. Seriously, where’d it go? One minute I’m playing with a few of the new Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners ($19 each; exclusive to Sephora), and the next minute it’s dark and I hear crickets outside!
Maybe I was just having so much fun finger painting my lids that time got away from me.
I know I’ve gushed over Benefit’s Creaseless Creams many times before. I’m like a broken record with them, “Benefit Creaseless Creams! Benefit Creaseless Creams!” Sorry. It’s just that I like ’em that much.
More on the Benefit Creaseless Creams…
And now with Purple Snap, Tidal Rave, Silver Spoon and Icy White showing up at Sephora, I better warn you — I’m going to do it again!
The New Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners: Sephora Exclusives
TIDAL RAVE
I tried three of the four new colors today and picked a favorite: Tidal Rave. Truthfully, its name gave it a big advantage over the other two. Coupled with its color — shimmery teal with golden glitter — which Benefit must have borrowed from a peacock, my loving it was a foregone conclusion.
I did a light wash with it over the entire eye and then added a few more layers directly onto the lid.
HOLY! I just thought of something… Can you picture MAC Club worn on top of this!? Oh, that’s something I have got to try. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+
PURPLE SNAP
I thought I’d seen Purple Snap somewhere before but couldn’t place it at first. Now I know where it was, or something like it — Gossip, a Creaseless Cream from the spring of 2009, and Plum-Ing for Gold, from the Femme Metale Kit.
But I pulled both of them out to take a closer look, and Purple Snap’s actually quite different, more of a pastel lavender than the other two.
And Purple Snap is no snap to apply. It’s so pigmented, and I find it rather easy to over-apply. The result looked a little patchy and uneven, so less is probably more when it comes to this shade. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B
SILVER SPOON
I would have liked to have been born with one of these… Ya know, I have to be in the mood for silver eyeshadow, but this version of the color could put me in the mood more often. It’s a pearly silver with hints of medium gray, almost like liquid mercury in cream form. Try it layered on top of a dark creamy black pencil for a slammin’ smokey eye. Ricky Schroder would approve. MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A
I haven’t seen the fourth shade, Ice Shot, in person yet, but I’ll post a swatch when I can. It’s described as an icy white. Ooh, right? I can’t wait! 🙂

Ha ha!
If you’re chomping at the bit for these, you might want to bite sooner than later; once Sephora clears these out of stock, they’ll be gone, POOF! All four limited edition colors are available now at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com.
How do you feel about these (and the Benefit Creaseless Creams in general)?
Onward to Wednesday!
I hope your Tuesday was more productive than mine. It was another one of those days for me, you know the kind. You start out with a long list of things you want to get done but only get to two or three of them. Lovely, but tomorrow’s a new day!
Before I dive headfirst into a bowl of Trader Joe’s chicken chow mien, I have to share my new favorite song (new to me), India.Arie’s A Beautiful Day.
I love this part:
Life is a challenge, not a competition
You can still smell the roses and be on a mission
Just take a moment to get in touch with your heart
Sometimes you feel like you’ve got something to prove
Remind yourself that there’s only one you
Cheesy? Yeah, but who cares? 🙂

Ooh! Tidal Rave looks gorgeous 🙂
Karen says
I love it!
What would you wear with it?
makeup morsels says
ohh my Tidal Rave is gorgeous. I could picture it under Club, with some gold dabbed on the inner corner. I’ve actually never tried Benefit’s cream shadows. I treated myself to an Estee Lauder cream shadow after I saw your post about a year ago, and I loved it so much I’m tempted to go back for more colors. I just might have to pick up one of these too…
Karen says
Those are fab too!
If/when you check the Creaseless Creams out you’ll have to peep Skinny Jeans and Birthday Suit — they’re great everyday colors!
lexi says
Yes – my two favorites: birthday suit and skinny jeans (need a new one boo). I thought that exact same thing when I saw the Tidal Wave shade – it would look even better layered with MAC’s Club. I hear good things about the R.S.V.P. shade too, is that LE?
Karen says
I have RSVP (it’s like a pink, cooler version of Birthday Suit) and love it. It’s perm! 🙂
dani@callitbeauty says
ooh, purple snap’s a tad disappointing! i expected it to look more like plum-ing for gold. but tidal rave is GORGEOUS!
also, bonus points for the india.arie track! ghetto and chocolate high are my faves from that record. have you heard jazmine sullivan’s new track? it’s called holding you down (goin’ in circles) and i’m so obsessed with it! check it out when you can, i think you’ll love it 🙂
Karen says
Hi Dani,
I haven’t heard that song! I’m always looking for music, so thanks. 🙂 Can’t wait to hear it!
Christy says
Oooh, pretty!!! I just hope my wallet doesn’t die this holiday season. So many things I want!
Karen says
Holiday is AWESOME for beauty, isn’t it? 😀
What are you most excited about?
Paris B says
Tidal Rave looks amazing! I wonder if we’ll get it here 🙂 I love Benefit Creaseless Cream shadows too!
Karen says
Hi Paris,
What are your go-to shades? Mine are Skinny Jeans and Birthday Suit.
Kate & Zena says
Oooh, I love Tidal Wave, especially after Platinum from Femme Metale left me twitching. Patchy, patchy, patchy.
Was Platinum patchy for you too? I don’t have as much trouble with Taupe-aztic (even though sometimes it likes to be mean and apply patchy) but Platinum is notoriously patchy with a capital P, A, T, C, H,Y.
By the way, I’m peeved at Zena. She came in with a giant mud streak down the side of her neck; she got a bath on Saturday and blessed on Sunday. I thought she had changed her wicked ways! GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Karen says
Hi Kate,
I didn’t have any trubs with Platinum. Purple Snap, on the other hand…
Kate & Zena says
Maybe I’m applying it wrong. How are you applying it?
Karen says
I use a finger or a synthetic brush and apply with a patting motion.
kirsty says
Oh my, these are all gorgeous! I hope they make their way to UK shores.
Did you get round to trying club over tidal rave? Please share a pic if you did!
Karen says
Hi Kirsty,
I haven’t tried it yet… hopefully today! 😀
Lauren says
The minute you said “peacock” I was sold on tidal rave. I love peacock blue/green/teal so I’ll definitely have to try this out soon!
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
You’ll love this then. Once you get it you might want to try layering a gold shadow on top… that would look really pretty!
Connie says
Ahh… Tidal Rave is calling out to me! It’s so rare for Benefit to have colors other than neutral-ish for their creaseless shadows and they had to be Sephora exclusive!
Karen says
I know! Hopefully they’ll add more brights to their permanent line toon!
Vonvon says
When I saw these, my eyes fell on Tidal Rave first. But Purple Snap and Silver Spoon look just as good and pretty! And limited edition only *sulk*
Benefit is starting to come out with colors for their Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners. Good!
Karen says
Yeah! It’s nice to see them doing colors like purple and teal.
Advah says
I love, LOVE, my Birthday Suit (and am coveting Skinny Jeans), but is it me or do these new shadows look a bit chalky in the photos?
Karen says
Hi Advah,
It might be because of how the finish on these photograph; in real life Tidal Rave and Purple Snap aren’t chalky at all. Silver Spoon can look frosty on my skin color because I’m darker, but it’s no prob if I do lighter washes.
Advah says
Ooh thanks! In this case, I should have a closer look at the Benefit counter..
Karen says
You’re welcome! 🙂
gio says
Tidal wave looks gorgeous! Purple Snap is very pretty too.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Love those shades!
Kajal Couture says
TIdal Wave looks hot! I think the Benefit Creaseless Creams are wonderful, but they dry out quickly. I think they are good if you have a few shades that are constantly in rotation, but for the few and far between uses, I think there are other cream products that last longer.
Karen says
Hi Kajal Couture,
I think they can last a long time if you make sure to close the lids tightly and store them upside down.
Nina says
i wannntttt !!! all of `em please! 😀
but i did say no more makeup for the rest of the year, right? 😀
Karen says
Ahh, how about just one? 😀 That’s reasonable, right?
Nina says
hrmmm okayyyy one it is. most probably tidal rave. 🙂
Karen says
🙂 I knew you couldn’t resist.
Nina says
i am weakkkk! 😀
Karen says
We are in the same boat, LOL!
Shannon says
dude!! Tidal Rave reminds me a LOT of Benefit’s Show Offs! in Mint Julep. I freakin LOVE that color – it’s the perfect blue/teal/gold accent for my blue eyes (one of the only blue shadows I’m comfortable wearing, in fact). I still have my little pot of it, even though the stuff’s been discontinued for years, ha. NGL, though, having that type of color in a creaseless cream would be the BOMB DIGGITY. The show offs! can be a little messy to apply.
Karen says
Hi Shannon,
I remember the Show Offs! I had a few that were in the long, skinny, tube. Ahh… takes me back to 1999, when I was in full-on Benefit mode.
Tiffany H says
I need purple snap!
Karen says
Hi Tiffany H,
It’s a lovely shade, especially if you wear purple often.
Have a fab Wednesday!
corinne says
karen, do you think tidal wave is similar to MAC’s paintpot Delft?
Karen says
Hi Corinne,
Delft’s a touch darker, and the green’s more intense. Here’s a comparison swatch for you with Delft on the left and Tidal Rave on the right:
Hope this helps! Lemme know if you have any more Qs.
corinne says
ooo ur awesome!! and the fact you’re from the bay like me is more awesome-r!!
Karen says
LOL… it’s sunny up here today on the North end. How is it ’round your neck of the woods?
I will ALWAYS be a Bay Area girl!!
corinne says
scary to hear that SF is SUNNY and WARM…lol i’m used to the fog and cold…but LOVE when it’s so nice here…
Amanda says
Pretty! do you know off the top of your head if there is a black creaseless cream? i’m looking for something to use as a primer/base for when I do smokey eyes. I actually have the black MAC paint pot, and I’m going to chuck it. It is so hard to work with-hard, dry, patchy. I’ve tried applying everyway I can think of and it’s horid.
Nina says
The closest to black is Strut, I think. 🙂
Kate & Zena says
Strut’s not close to black at all (it’s my favorite CC). Strut is a shimmery medium charcoal grey. It doesn’t look black in any light. If you’ve ever grilled with charcoal, the color of Strut is the grey of the charcoal after you’ve used it. Or if you’ve ever seen wet concrete that they use for house foundations, that’s close to Strut. Try googling images of Strut. It’s one of those greys that are just impossible to explain. “Shimmery medium charcoal” is the closest I can get.
They don’t have a CC that’s close to black that I’ve seen.
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
There used to be one called Towncar that was AMAZING. Unfortch they’ve been phasing it out. If you can find it (there are some floating around), then snatch it up ASAP.
They do have something now called strut, but it’s not a true black.
Phyrra says
Tidal Rave and Gossip look gorgeous.
Karen says
Gossip is rad. It’s one of my fave CC’s. 🙂
vonnie says
silver spoon and tidal rave are goooorgeous!! want want want
Karen says
Love Tidal Rave!
Kim says
I love Silver Spoon and am, apparently, always in the mood for silver or white. 🙂
It’s funny because I was trying to decide which of the UD Jackpots were my fave and it has to be Gunmetal. I guess I just like how it seems to brighten/sparkle me up! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Kim,
Ice Shot, the fourth shade I didn’t get to swatch, would probably be perfect for you then! 🙂
Lydia Joy says
I love these colors! I’m so excited to see some new additions!
Karen says
Are you a fan of the Creaseless Creams, Lydia Joy?
Megan says
These look great! My favorite shade is Plum-ing for Gold!
Karen says
That’s from the Femme Metale kit. Have you seen it yet?
Here are swatches and a review just in case you haven’t:

grrracielou says
oooh la la! with the way that you describe items and the gorgeous pics you make me want to run (as fast as I can) to Sephora and spend a million $$ on make up (wish I had even 1,000 $ lol!) these colors look gorgeous! and they look like they’d go great with any skin color! 😉
Karen says
You’re too cute! 🙂 Which of the shades is your fave?
Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex says
Those shades look great! I’m sad Tidal Rave is limited edition 🙁
Karen says
Me too. I’ve heard that shades that sell really well sometimes get added to the permanent line up, so lets keep our fingers crossed!
amy says
Tidal Wave is very pretty!
Karen says
It is! I think it would look really pretty on you.
Amee says
Awww!! super sexy….
i liked the tidal rave and purple snap the most…
Karen says
Great colors!
knownever says
These aren’t my favorite shades, but crease-less cream shadows are my favorite cream shadows. It’s a tie between them and laura mercier’s metallic cream shadows.
Karen says
Laura’s are pretty good. Have you ever tried Shiseido’s (the ones in the pot)? Those rock too.
Resham says
I love creaseless cream shadows…they are my fav always…Personally I am not liking these new ones. I wish they had released some in warm colors..like a Gold or like antique gold green…those kinds…Thank you for the reviews.
Karen says
You’re welcome, Resham!
Alexandra says
I like Tidal Rave and purple snap. Wish we had a sephora over here 🙁
