When boredom threatens your makeup bag, whom do you call?
Batman? Nope, he can’t help.
Spidey? Sorry, not this time.
Jeremy Renner?
Yes…you call Jeremy Renner. 🙂
But seriously, you call Dolce & Gabbana! With their fierce leopard-print caps, the three new $34 limited edition Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipsticks from the Animalier collection are so wild they’re practically feral.
Cat lady says what?
(What?)
Iconic (a warm-toned tomato red), Desert (a shimmery bronze) and Caramel (a sheer beige) will go purrfectly with some of my favorite accessories, like my leopard-print dress, the husky tabby often draped across my arms, and the golden neutral shades in D&G’s new Desert eyeshadow quad.
All three have Dolce & Gabbana’s faint rosy lipstick flavor and scent and a creamy, luxuriously smooth formula that lasts on my lips from 3-4 hours.
Like Batman’s utility belt, these are expensive, and you could probably find similar colors for less, but with great power comes great responsibility!
Okay…I just wanted to use that in a sentence. I’m aware that it makes absolutely no sense. 🙂
What I’m trying to say is this: any makeup bag would be lucky to get one of these classic colors for Christmas.
PRICE: $34 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online at saksfifthavenue.com

I think that I might…
…be the only person who lived through ’80s without seeing Flashdance.
It’s not like my parents were strict about what we watched (hello, they let me and my elementary-school friends rent Purple Rain for a slumber party!). I guess I just never got around to Flashdance.
It occurred to me last night while scrolling through Netflix when I saw the movie poster for the umpteenth time.
Now it’s sitting in my queue. 🙂
Quick! — your favorite ’80s flicks?
I’m sure I’m forgetting something here, but I’m gonna go with Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future and Pretty in Pink.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Love the feline-ness of Desert. So sexy on you, Karen! MRROW!
I’ve only seen Dirty Dancing for the first time this year and it was pretty hawt. LOL Patrick Swayze could really sway those hips. xD
Rachel says
Desert looks gorgeous on you!
Chris El says
Dirty Dancing has to be one of my all-time favorite movies! Nobody puts baby in a corner lol. On another note, yet another item that you effortlessly make me want to buy! Didn’t think Desert would be that gorgeous on. Lusting…
Meredith says
Love Desert on you. And I haven’t seen Flashdance, either!
Heidi says
Another one here who hasn’t seen Flashdance! My fave from that era is The Breakfast Club.
Desert looks so, so pretty!
Vanessa says
I agree with everyone else. Desert looks great on you!
Allyson says
Those lipsticks are all gorgeous, but Desert really looks fabulous. And I’m dying over the packaging!
My favorite 80s movies are Ferris Bueller, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science… But it’s tough to just pick three! So many good movies during that time.
musical says
You are rockin’ Desert! I can hear Tabs roar a loud Mrrow in the background :).
I haven’t seen Flashdance either!!
PS: I’m totally lemming Tarte’s “The Stand Outs”set and the Bliss body butter trio (already got one a cpl. of months ago-love it, and it’s a fantastic value). Oh, and the Smashbox liner set-all my everyday colors are in it ;). Above all, I am lemming a Kindle Paperwhite :). Everyone else’s presents are already chosen and ready :). You must check out Cyberoptix ties on Etsy, if you have a chance.
What are you lemming, bella?

I honestly think this is YOUR red! You look great with it on. Makes me want to run out and get it but I know it won’t look as good on me.

Love Desert on you!

Desert looks so pretty on you!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
That’s really funny because the other night, I was watching Saturday Night Fever (I was SUCH a little wannabe disco-baby when I was young :P) and was totally thinking that I’d never seen Flashdance and should really do it!!
Neeraj says

Sunny says
Ahh gimme some of that Iconic! It’s amazing how good Desert looks on you! I don’t think it’s a shade anyone can pull off.
Karen says
Hi Sunny,
Thanks! 🙂
Silke says
Wow! Karen, the Desert one is really brightening you up … this color makes your skin look that wonderful … can’t beleave it… Beautiful!
Karen says
Thank you, Silke. It’s going right into my bag of go-tos! 🙂
Kim says
It’s funny because Desert didn’t really appeal to me, even in the swatch, until I saw it on you. It is very stunning! Of course, I’m reminding myself that it won’t look like that on me. 🙂
Wow – I’m surprised about Flashdance. If you saw the music vid for Irene Cara’s What a Feeling (which probably ran 75 times per day back then), you probably saw the best parts of the movie. 🙂 I still liked it, of course. Some Kind of Wonderful has a special place in my heart from the 80s. Btw, the Hubs had never seen Dirty Dancing. I couldn’t get over it and made him watch it a few months ago just so he’d understand my “no one puts Baby in a corner” reference. HAHA!
Karen says
What the what? I know he’s a dude and all, but how could he have missed Dirty Dancing?!?
Re: Flashdance. I’m about halfway through it. So far I’m really enjoying the music. Maniac and Gloria, OMG! So good.
Kim says
I know, right?! And he was pretty resistant to watching it. I’ve sort of encouraged him off and on for about 15 years! It was on TV and every time he left the room, I paused it. He finally gave up and sat still. hee hee!
That really was a good soundtrack! 🙂
OMG, I have to tell you, I started streaming the Sean Bean 1993 BBC version of Lady Chatterly on Netflix. I know the story and had an expectation that it might be slightly racey, but it was pretty shocking. It was like Cinemax After Dark meets BBC! HAHA!
Nina says
Flashdance FTW! 😀
Chynna says
I just saw 16 Candles in the theater with some friends last night. So much fun! I love John Hughes movies.
Danielle says
YOU MADE A THUNDERCATS REFERENCE OMG! I love you so much for that! *-*
Jennifer says
I never have the confidence to try red like this! VERY pretty! The caramel and dessert colors are much more my speed!
NeenaJ says
Desert was made for you! All the John Hughes movies get major props but, my favorite 80s movie (and coincidentally, also my favorite holiday movie) is Trading Places. It just doesn’t get any better than Eddie Murphy in his prime and Dan Ackroyd eating stolen smoked salmon through a fake Santa beard. And, I’m pretty sure you could use the D&G bronzer to fake Jaime Lee Curtis cheekbones. ;P
Leah @ Mile High Beauty Blog says
I’m getting Desert the next time I’m at the mall. I don’t even care how much it is! It’s so pretty and one word…. Leopard! I’m a sucker for all things leopard.
