Dear Curmudgeons and Grinches-in-Training,
Avert your eyes! Step away from the monitor or makeup counter, and don’t even think about looking at MAC’s new $39.50 Primped Out Lip Look Bag in Lavish Coral, a new limited edition holiday gift set in the MAC Fabulousness collection.
Like Santa’s bag of gifts, this pink leopard print purse (cute overload!) is filled with goodies, namely three coral lip products.
If you didn’t heed my advice and looked at the bag, you might be wondering, “Would this kit be a good holiday gift?”
Well, unless you want your 14-year-old niece throwing her arms around your neck and calling you “the coolest aunt evah!” — DON’T DO IT!
Unless you want your favorite coworker, the one who dutifully listens to your endless cat stories without ever rolling her eyes, to send you a text that reads, “WERK BFFs 4 LIFE!” — DON’T DO IT!
Unless you’re completely comfortable being adored and repeatedly hearing, “OHMIGOSH! This bag is so cute, and I can totally wear all of these colors!” — DON’T DO IT!
Why? Because I think this kit is entirely capable of thrilling everyone on your holiday list. The three neutral coral colors it contains should suit most skin tones, and the black and pink leopard print bag is full-on adorable.
5 Reasons to Love the New MAC Lip Look Bag in Lavish Coral
- The primped-out purse is so cute! It’s also easy to open and close, and large enough to hold everything that comes with the kit, as well as a full-size powder compact.
- The Lip Liner Pencil in Boldly Bare looks great with coral, peach or brown lipsticks. This neutral reddish brown pencil is even deluxe sized, and I think it also looks great with a nice gloss slicked on top.
- The Cremesheen Glass in Kiss Me Softly is slightly larger than the Cremesheen Glasses in MAC’s permanent line. But just barely. It comes in a 0.09-ounce tube, versus the 0.08-ounce ones from MAC’s permanent line. This soft peachy golden pearl is also lovingly sheer and moisturizing, and the non-sticky, lightweight formula has a faint vanilla flavor and scent.
- Cremesheen Lipstick in Shy Girl is a perfect everyday color. This sheer, beige-like coral has a creamy finish and the same vanilla vibe as the gloss. This one here is also full size.
- The price! I think $39.50 is actually a pretty sweet deal, considering that one full-size MAC Lipstick, a Cremesheen Glass and a Lip Liner Pencil would by themselves cost $59 (and that doesn’t include the print bag).
If you do decide to give this kit to any lovely ladies in your life, please be advised: your reputation as a grumpy goat will be called into question. This snazzy set has plenty of potential. 🙂

Update: Project Food Experiment
Remember how I prepped all those meals last Sunday so I wouldn’t have to cook this week? Well, it’s working out!
After Day 1, I thought I might get tired of eating similar meals each night this week, but I just tweak ’em a little bit to keep things interesting — like by having avocado slices with my shrimp pitas one day and red pepper sauce the next.
I love not having to worry about cooking or making something healthy to eat at the end of a long day.
The thing is, it took me a few hours to prep so many meals last Sunday afternoon. I hope I can keep this up… On Sundays, two of my favorite things are napping and painting my nails. 🙂
Speaking of food, though, what’s for lunch?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

This is something I think I might really like. I’ve been looking for a very natural lipstick and gloss. This looks great on you.
Karen says
Thank you, Marla. That’s what I love about this kit — every girl could always use another beautiful, natural-looking lipstick and gloss.

I don’t think I can (or want to) resist this lip kit. These are my colors, after all!
Lunch today was my latest Trader Joe’s obsession: Japanese Style Fried Rice. So yummy!
Karen says
I think Missy would approve of the print, especially. (Very her style.)
Okay, fill me in on that fried rice. I think I need it in my life! Tonight I’m finally going to bake that box of TJs pumpkin bread…so excited!

It’s a beautiful kit! By the way, I am loving your hair – it looks great! I like the idea of prepping food for the week. I may start doing that myself. It’s hard to get on a schedule because of the type of job the fiance and I have, but we can try!
Karen says
Hi Katherine!
Thank you. 🙂 I’m getting a kick out of wearing it straight these days. Well…I actually really need a haircut, and keeping it straight is easier, LOL!
I think I might be doing Sunday food prep from this point out. It has made a world of difference in my schedule during the week, and it helps me stay on track to eat healthy. Try it! I think you’ll really like it, too. Plus, if you make a big batch of something like lasagna or soup, you could always prep extras to freeze. 🙂

Those lipcolors are gorgeous!
I need to do something like that, foodwise! I need to clean out my refrigerator and stock up on healthy stuff. I hate cooking and food prep though…
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
You know, when I’m busy, cooking’s not always my favorite thing, either, but getting it all done in one pass seems to actually make it go by faster. You could also always freeze things for future meals as well, which is what I’m going to try this weekend (gonna make some homemade veggie burgers), to save more time too.
Happy Friday, btw. Hope you had a good week! 🙂

Oh how I wish someone would read your post and get this little bag of treats for me!! :p
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
You could always send a link to someone as a hint! I do that sometimes, LOL!

I really like the whole prepping in advance thingy! I’m seriously going to have to do that. I’ve been really into using my slow cooker lately though. I love throwing stuff in and forgetting about it. And I’ve been really into soups too! I love this time of year.
Pretty set for sure! And actually, not too bad of a price. PLUS i have a thing for leopard print. 🙂

Hi Tracy,
Soooo I have a slow cooker that needs some serious love. If you have any fave soup recipes please send them my way.
Happy, happy Friday!

Hi Jas,
Thanks! I hope you get a chance to check out the set. Happy Friday!

Awesome job on the cooking ahead – I’m so glad it’s worked out! 🙂 Oh, and happy Friday! It’s a short one for me. We have a hockey tournament to look forward to this weekend so I’m off to run errands. If I don’t catch you again today, have a great weekend!!

I am not terribly impressed by this set..too sheer..!

Just wanted to tell you I really like your hair, you look so pretty in these pics! Have a nice weekend!
Yelena says
seriously this is so pretty but I have suddenly become allergic to all lip products after 26 years of happiness with experimenting with nudes, fuschias and even reds. High end to drug store. I am afraid I will have to dump my collection of lippies (about 60-100 items) because my Dr. says I’m simply allergic to them and I need to stick to vaseline. so sad 🙁
Nika says
I want this kit so bad it’s not even funny.
Katrina says
Really pretty! I certainly wouldn’t mind getting this!
